Abstract

Fogponic cultivation, a hydroponic technique that utilizes water mist for nutrient delivery, offers a significant advantage in water and nutrient efficiency. However, suboptimal air circulation, temperature, and humidity in the root chamber can hinder plant growth and nutrient uptake. This study develops an IoT-enhanced mechanical system to optimize environmental conditions in a fogponic root chamber for cultivating spinach (Spinacia oleracea) seedlings. An actuator in the form of a fan was integrated to regulate air circulation, and managed by a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller for precise temperature and humidity control. The system was monitored using the IoT-based Blink application. The results showed that the PID controller effectively regulated environmental conditions, with optimized parameter values: Kp = 5.76, Ki = 0.576, and Kd =14.4. Performance comparisons with P, PI, and PD controllers demonstrated effective humidity control, achieving the target set point of 92% with rise times of 447–1090 seconds and steady-state errors of 0–0.5%. By integrating mechanical components such as the fan with IoT-based monitoring, the system achieves continuous adjustments to the environment, enhancing plant growth conditions.

Abstract

In autistic children, one of the important physiological aspects to be examined is the heart condition, which can be assessed through electrocardiogram (ECG) signal analysis. However, ECG signals in autistic children often contain interference in the form of noise, making the analysis process, both manual and conventional, challenging. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the ECG signals of autistic children using a classification method to distinguish between two main conditions: playing and calm conditions. A deep learning approach employing the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures was used to obtain accurate results in distinguishing the heart conditions of autistic children. The data used consists of 700 ECG signal data in each class, processed through the filtering, windowing, and augmentation stages to obtain balanced data. Three CNN architectures, ResNet, DenseNet, and XceptionNet, were tested in this study. Although these architectures are originally designed for 2D and 3D image data, modifications were made to adapt the input data structure to perform 1D data calculations. The evaluation results show that the XceptionNet model achieved the best performance, with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score of 97,14% each, indicating a good ability in capturing the complex patterns of ECG signals. Meanwhile, the ResNet obtained good results with 96,19% accuracy, while DenseNet performed slightly lower results with 94,76% accuracy and evaluation metrics. Overall, this study demonstrates that a deep CNN architecture based on dense connections can enhance the accuracy of ECG signal classification in autistic children.

Abstract

Masalah yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana bentuk dan penyebab campur kode bahasa melayu Malaysia terhadap penggunaan bahasa Indonesia di wilayah perbatasan pulau Sebatik Kalimantan Utara. Sedangkan, tujuan penelitian yaitu mendeskripsikan bentuk dan penyebab campur kode. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu (1) Teknik observasi, (2) Teknik wawancara, (3) Teknik perekaman dan (4) Catatan lapangan. Teknik analisis data yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk campur kode melayu Malaysia adalah bentuk kata dasar, kata ulang, bentuk frasa dan bentuk klausa. Kemudian penyebab terjadinya campur kode yaitu keterbatasan penggunaan kode, penggunaan istilah yang lebih populer, pembicara dan pribadi pembicara, mitra bicara, modus pembicara, topik, fungsi dan tujuan, ragam dan tingkat tutur bahasa, hadirnya penutur ketiga, pokok pembicara, untuk membangkitkan rasa humor.

Abstract

Mutual understanding among dialects is one of the aspects in research of comprehensive sociolinguistic. Assessment of mutual understanding shows how speakers from certain dialect or language society understand other dialect. This study focuses on examination of how far the speakers of four local dialect in Palu valley have interaction. These four dialects are Ledo, Da’a, Unde, and Rai. A sample of 20 people were surveyed representing each of four persons from society leaders, head of families, mothers, teenagers, and children. The results indicate that dialectal speakers of Ledo is 29,7%, Da'a is 37,26%, Unde is 40,14%, and Rai is 31,02% using Kaili language in various daily association domain. Congeniality to vernacular alone for adult circle is still very high. However younger people have less understanding of which there are about 80%. Difference mutual understanding between dialect interchangeably is not evident as shown by only 10% of the difference. Thus, it seems that there is good mutual understanding between speakers of four dialects of Kaili’s language. Ledo dialect seems to have higher level of understanding, this is not a suprising as Ledo is situated in the middle of the Palu Valley.

Abstract

The number of stunting children in the Aceh Besar region until the end of 2022 reached 1,211 cases, so that the Aceh Government and all stakeholders were very focused on reducing the number of stunting cases according to the target set by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. To help determine the stunting case in Aceh Besar, an accurate digital measuring device is needed so that the prevention process is carried out on the right target. This community service activity is carried out continuously by applying the results of research measuring automatic nutritional status in children through high measurement and weight implemented at the Gampong Barabung Posyandu by training 12 Posyandu cadres in order to use the measuring instrument correctly. The method carried out is through practice and trials so that posyandu cadres that have been trained can determine the number of stunting cases in their area appropriately.

Abstract

This service was created with the aim of training partners who have businesses to develop their businesses by creating websites. Where the Website is one of the promotional media which is quite influential in this increasingly sophisticated technological era compared to other promotional media which still use paper such as brochures, posters and others. Websites are the cheapest, most effective and efficient promotional media if they can be managed properly. From any point of view, promotional media using websites still has more advantages, both from the point of view of distributing information, speed of information delivery, and even the price. The idea is to use pantheon.io as a hosting creation page and use several plugins to support website creation, both design and uploading product photos. The partners involved in this activity are online entrepreneurs engaged in selling fragrance products (perfume). The method we use in creating websites is the RAD (Rapid Application Development) method. As a result of this training and mentoring, partners will be able to take advantage of the use of websites and online shopping sites, so that the websites created can be useful for partners who have businesses to increase the target market for their products even wider.

Abstract

There have been many studies on first language interference towards learners’ second or foreign language learning, but not many on the otherwise. This study investigates the effects of learning Japanese as a foreign language towards learners’ first language use, Indonesian. The data for this qualitative study were obtained from five Japanese learners who had different backgrounds of Japanese learning. Observation and interview were used as the research instruments to collect the data in this study. The results were found that the learners showed foreign language effects; grammatical aspects and borrowing. In short, learning a foreign language (FL) influences learners’ first language (L1), which means that learning Japanese language had affected the learners’ first language, Indonesian. It can be concluded that learning a second or foreign language may interfere a learner’s first language.

Abstract

Lake Maninjau experiences periodic upwelling events that disrupt water quality, harm fish stocks, and pose socioeconomic challenges to surrounding communities. This study aimed to enhance upwelling prediction accuracy by integrating Vector Autoregressive (VAR) time series modelling with Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification. A five-year dataset (2020–2024) of daily climate variables surface temperature, precipitation, and wind speed was collected from NASA. Data stationarity was confirmed using Box-Cox transformations and Augmented Dickey-Fuller tests, while Granger Causality analysis revealed bidirectional relationships among the variables. The optimal forecasting model, VAR(17), was selected based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), ensuring residuals met white-noise criteria. K-means clustering then labelled potential upwelling days, and these labels were employed to train SVM classifiers. An interactive dashboard was developed using Python and Streamlit to facilitate real-time forecasts and classification outputs. The VAR(17) model produced highly accurate forecasts, reflected by minimal error metrics (e.g., RMSE < 0.60). SVM classification of potential upwelling events achieved strong performance, consistently attaining F1-scores above 0.95. By merging time series forecasts with event classification, the hybrid VAR–SVM framework outperformed single-method approaches in identifying and predicting upwelling episodes. This integrated modelling strategy effectively addresses the complexity of upwelling in Lake Maninjau, enabling timely decision-making for fisheries management and local tourism stakeholders. Future work may incorporate additional environmental indicators (e.g., dissolved oxygen, pH) and extend dashboard functionalities to bolster sustainable resource management and community resilience

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi robotika telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dunia pendidikan. Robotika, sebagai bidang multidisiplin yang menggabungkan aspek mekanika, elektronika, dan ilmu komputer, memiliki potensi besar untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pengenalan sistem robotika di SMA Labschool Unsyiah Banda Aceh serta mengkaji dampaknya terhadap pengetahuan dan motivasi siswa. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, perencanaan materi, pelaksanaan kegiatan, praktik sederhana, hingga evaluasi. Dokumentasi kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dari siswa selama mengikuti seluruh rangkaian kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi melalui kuesioner dan observasi lapangan mengindikasikan bahwa siswa memperoleh peningkatan pemahaman tentang konsep dasar robotika serta terdorong untuk lebih berminat pada bidang STEM. Guru pendamping juga menilai kegiatan ini relevan dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran dan membuka peluang pengembangan robotika sebagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pengenalan robotika tidak hanya berkontribusi pada peningkatan literasi teknologi siswa, tetapi juga menjadi langkah awal dalam membangun ekosistem pendidikan berbasis teknologi yang berkelanjutan di SMA Labschool Unsyiah Banda Aceh.
