Abstract

This study aims to map global research developments on experiential learning (EL) in higher education by employing a bibliometric approach. Experiential learning has gained increasing attention as a transformative pedagogy that connects theoretical understanding with real-world application. Research data were collected from the Scopus database for the years 2023–2025 and analyzed using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny to examine publication trends, citation patterns, author productivity, and thematic clusters. The findings reveal a sharp and consistent increase in EL-related publications worldwide, with the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom emerging as the most productive countries, while Southeast Asia—particularly Indonesia—shows relatively limited contributions. The analysis also identifies several emerging thematic clusters, including the integration of EL with immersive technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the metaverse, as well as applications in service learning, entrepreneurship education, and authentic assessment. The novelty of this study lies in its focused examination of the 2023–2025 publication period, capturing the latest global trends shaped by digital transformation and sustainability agendas. Practically, the results highlight the need for stronger institutional and policy support to systematically embed EL within higher education curricula. Overall, this study contributes to strengthening evidence-based, student-centered learning and informs future research opportunities in experiential education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of implementing self-management techniques on student learning discipline at SMAN 13 Makassar. The background of this research lies in the importance of learning discipline for academic success and how self-management techniques can serve as an effective tool to cultivate discipline. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with two groups: an experimental group receiving self-management intervention and a control group. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and then analyzed descriptively and statistically using t-tests. The results of the study indicate a significant improvement in students’ learning discipline after implementing self-management techniques. Before the intervention, 60% of students were in the low discipline category and 40% in the high category. After applying self-management techniques, 70% of students fell into the high discipline category. A p-value of < 0.05 indicates a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. These findings are supported by observations and interviews showing that self-management techniques enhance student participation, time management, and learning motivation. In conclusion, self-management techniques are effective in improving learning discipline and should be integrated into school counseling programs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of group counseling using the indirect modeling technique based on short films to increase awareness of the risks of early marriage among adolescents. The research method used is quantitative with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were junior high school students who showed low awareness regarding the negative impacts of early marriage. The intervention was conducted through several group counseling sessions, where students were shown short films containing moral messages and real-life situations that reflect the adverse effects of early marriage. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests to determine the significance of change before and after the intervention. The findings indicate a significant increase in students’ awareness after participating in the group counseling. The use of short films in indirect modeling proved effective in helping students develop empathy, better understand the long-term risks of early marriage, and reflect on their own values and decisions. This study concludes that the implementation of group counseling with short-film-based indirect modeling techniques is an effective alternative approach to increase adolescents’ awareness about the risks of early marriage. The results have implications for guidance and counseling services in schools as a preventive measure to reduce the trend of early marriage among teenagers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze smoking behavior among students at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 8 Makassar and the efforts to address it. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving two subjects, namely students with the initials DP and RPS, who have been identified as having smoking behavior. Data were collected through interviews and observations, and analyzed descriptively using triangulation techniques. The results of the study indicate that the smoking behavior of both students is perceived as normal and enjoyable, with consumption reaching one pack per day. Factors influencing this behavior include the desire for recognition, peer influence, and imitation from parents. The handling of smoking behavior was conducted through cognitive restructuring techniques consisting of six stages: rationalization, identification of thoughts, introduction and training of coping thoughts, shifting negative thoughts, positive reinforcement exercises, and evaluation. After the intervention, there was a change in thinking from irrational to rational, which is expected to reduce students' smoking behavior.

Abstract

Improving students' character education learning outcomes requires instructional models that are both interactive and culturally relevant. Traditional teaching methods often fail to fully engage students or reflect local cultural values. This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating the Poster Comment cooperative learning model with Longko’ cultural values to enhance students’ learning outcomes in character education. A 2×2 factorial experimental design was employed involving 100 undergraduate students from a Christian higher education institution in Indonesia. Participants were randomly assigned to four groups based on two variables: learning model (Poster Comment vs. Non-Poster Comment) and cultural integration (Longko’ vs. Non-Longko’). Learning outcomes were assessed through pre- and post-tests using validated multiple-choice and essay instruments. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The findings demonstrated significant main effects of both the learning model and cultural values on students' learning outcomes. The Poster Comment approach outperformed the Non-Poster model (?(1,46) = 45.77, p .001), and Longko’ cultural integration significantly improved scores compared to non-cultural approaches (?(1,46) = 196.40, p .001). A significant interaction effect (?(1,46) = 11.79, p = .001) indicated the greatest gains occurred when Poster Comment was combined with Longko’ values. Integrating cooperative learning with indigenous cultural values fosters deeper understanding and engagement, leading to improved learning outcomes in character education. This study highlights the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy in higher education and supports the development of localized, value-driven instructional models.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ behavioral tendencies in using ChatGPT amid its emerging benefits and challenges, through the lens of the Theory of Planned Behavior. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method, involving 729 students from the Faculty of Education Sciences. Data were collected through surveys and interviews, and analyzed using SPSS. The findings, which refer to the three core variables of attitude toward the behavior (ATB), subjective norms (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC), show that the majority of respondents (70,6%) had a high positive attitude toward using ChatGPT for academic purposes. Most students (66,0%) reported moderate subjective norms, while perceived behavioral control was high (70,1%). These results indicate that students recognize the benefits of ChatGPT and feel confident in regulating its use. Consequently, their intention to use the tool is more strongly influenced by personal attitudes and self-regulation than by social pressure. The findings also highlight students’ ability to adapt to ChatGPT in academic contexts, although institutional guidance remains essential to ensure ethical and integrity-driven usage across the academic community.

Abstract

Fragmentation between Guidance and Counseling (GC) services and Character Education (CE) often dilutes school-based efforts to cultivate students’ socio-emotional and moral development. This study developed and appraised a GC–CE collaborative module grounded in the Paulus Makassar Foundation’s core values (excellence, creativity, compassion, mission orientation) to offer an operational remedy to that fragmentation. A Research and Development design (modified Borg & Gall) was implemented through needs analysis, prototype design, expert validation, and small-scale practicality testing with GC/CE teachers and media/content experts. Results indicate a systematically articulated module—objectives, indicators, learning materials, student tasks, structured reflection, and performance rubrics—that is conceptually relevant, context-sensitive, and classroom-ready. The study advances teacher-collaboration theory by proposing a micro-collaboration framework at the session level, coupling complementary GC–CE roles with performance-based assessment and reflective supervision. This bridges value knowledge and observable behavior, extending contemporary co- teaching and school-based intervention models. The module provides a scalable guideline for schools to formalize GC–CE co-delivery, align it with PLC routines, and integrate digital/interactive formats. It can inform district-level regulations on collaborative character education and guide resource allocation (training, supervision, and monitoring). Beyond local feasibility, the model contributes a replicable, culturally responsive mechanism to strengthen holistic character education through structured teacher collaboration.
