Abstract

The development of culturally responsive digital learning media is increasingly important in teacher education, particularly for preserving local languages and cultural values in higher education. Sundanese language and culture learning in Primary School Teacher Education programs still faces challenges related to students’ limited understanding of cultural materials and the continued use of conventional learning media. This study aimed to develop and examine the feasibility of a Sundanese educational podcast as an alternative medium for learning Sundanese language and culture in the Primary School Teacher Education Program. This study employed a research and development design using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants involved 25 PGSD students, material experts, and media experts. Data were collected through needs analysis questionnaires, expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, limited interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that students had a strong need for audio-based digital learning media, with 85% indicating the need for digital audio media and 88% expressing interest in using podcasts for learning. The material expert validation obtained an average score of 92%, while the media expert validation reached 89%, both categorized as very feasible. The limited trial also showed a highly positive student response, with an average score of 90.25%. In addition, students’ understanding increased by 16 points after using the podcast. These findings indicate that the Sundanese educational podcast is feasible, engaging, and relevant for supporting flexible and culturally grounded learning. The implication of this study is that podcast-based learning can serve as an innovative digital medium for strengthening local language learning, student engagement, independent learning, and cultural literacy among prospective primary school teachers.

Abstract

Enhancing national competitiveness in education, particularly at the elementary level, is essential in addressing the challenges of the Educational Revolution 4.0. Teachers, as the key agents of educational transformation, require continuous capacity building in digital and technological literacy to maintain professional excellence and instructional relevance. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen elementary school teachers’ competencies in technology literacy as part of their pedagogical and professional development. The implementation was conducted through a two-phase process focused on integrating technology-based learning media into classroom practices. Data were collected through observations, discussions, and evaluation instruments to assess teachers’ progress. The findings revealed significant improvements in teachers’ ability to utilize digital tools, design innovative instructional media, and apply technology-based learning strategies effectively. Moreover, participants demonstrated increased confidence in sharing educational innovations through scientific publications. The results underscore that developing teachers’ technology literacy not only enhances the quality of learning but also supports sustainable professional growth and contributes to the advancement of digital education ecosystems in elementary schools.
