Abstract

The Bengawan Solo River has an important role for humans and surrounding aquatic organisms. Efforts to maintain riparian vegetation can be done by maintaining the existence and striving for the diversity of constituent plant species so that they can provide services to the environment optimally. Therefore, this study aims to determine the diversity of riparian vegetation, especially grasses along Bengawan Solo tributaries. The research was conducted in February - July 2024 at three locations where the upstream was in the Bengawan Solo River, the middle of the river was in the Jatimalang River, and the downstream was in the Lalung Reservoir area, Karanganyar Regency. The method used in sampling is Purposive Random Sampling with the provision that each sample point plot has an area of 200 m2 made as many as 5 plots at each station. Observations include the name of the species and the number of individuals in each plot of each plant stata and the results obtained are then identified and calculated for diversity with the Shannon-Wiener index. The results obtained were fifteen (15) types of grass riparian vegetation belonging to three (3) tribes. The diversity of riparian vegetation at the grass level at the research site is moderate (H' 1≤ H ≤ 3).

Abstract

Biodiversity is a crucial element in ecosystems and human life. The Jatimalang River in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, is an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, particularly within the Angiospermae plant group. This study aims to identify the species of Angiospermae along the Jatimalang River and analyze their distribution based on environmental conditions. The results show the diversity of Angiospermae species from various families, including Poaceae, Musaceae, Fabaceae, and Euphorbiaceae, which demonstrate complex ecological adaptations to local conditions. This study is expected to contribute to conservation efforts and natural resource management in the region. By prioritizing the protection of important habitats and conducting further research, the Jatimalang River area can continue to support ecosystem sustainability and the welfare of the communities dependent on it.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the behavior caused by the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) due to bait and bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum). The research method used is a quantitative (experimental) method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments with 3 times variations. The results showed the behavior of cockroaches that approached the bait and bay leaf. In the first treatment (P1) as a control in the form of 5 grams of bait showed clear results that the behavior of the cockroach approached the bait. In the second treatment (P2) in the form of 5 grams of bait and 3 grams of bay leaves showed a repellent power of 20%. While in the three treatments (P3) in the form of 5 grams of bait and 10 grams of bay leaves, the repellant power was 26.67%. Based on this, the bay leaf is still less effective to be used as a natural cockroach repellent or repellent. So it can be said that the provision of bait and bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) to the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) resulted in  similar behavior.
