Abstract

The quality of human capital is a key determinant in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), especially within high-technology sectors where innovation, adaptability, and workforce readiness are critical. Despite having a vast digital consumer base, Indonesia has failed to attract investment from global technology leaders such as Apple, signaling deeper structural challenges within its human resource (HR) ecosystem. This study aims to investigate how HR-related constraints including competency gaps, misalignment between education and industry, and ineffective incentive policies, influence multinational investment decisions. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research integrates netnographic observations with thematic content analysis. Primary data were obtained from Apple's digital narratives, social media platforms, and credible electronic mass media, and triangulated with academic literature and national policy documents. The findings reveal that Indonesia’s fragmented HR development strategies, limited curriculum flexibility, and weak institutional coordination reduce its appeal in the global FDI landscape. These challenges indicate an urgent need for education system reform, workforce absorption enhancement, and policy synchronization across sectors. The study contributes theoretically by combining digital ethnography with institutional analysis and provides practical implications for developing countries seeking to foster a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. In conclusion, aligning human capital development with global industry demands is essential to increasing FDI competitiveness.

Abstract

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) declared itself as a conservation university with 3 main pillars, namely: (1) values and character, (2) arts and culture, and (3) natural resources and physical environment. UNNES believes the environmental crisis cannot be overcome only through practical and technical actions but it also attempts to change the way humans view and behave towards the environment. One indicator of natural resources pillars and the environment is green transportation. To implement green transportation, UNNES develops an internal transportation system to guide the use of vehicles, roads and parking areas on the campus. The use of regulated vehicles included motorized and non-motorized vehicles. The target of implementing a green transportation system was to reduce emissions in the campus environment to a minimum level. Motorized vehicles must obey the directional traffic signs applied in the campus environment and be only allowed to park in designated parking areas. Sufficient space for bicycle traffic, environmentally-friendly vehicles, and pedestrians on the sideways were preferred. Motor vehicle noise levels must not exceed 55 dB. Special vehicle traffic, among others, such as garbage transporters, watering plants, fire engines, and special-licensed vehicles were regulated under applicable regulations. Inspection tasks were carried out by security vehicles that can go through all roads in the campus environment in the direction of the designated lane, except in unlikely emergencies. Environmentally-friendly vehicles in the form of electric and non-fossil cars operated on Monday-Friday from 6:00 to 18:00 and were free. Markings with different colors, and bicycle lanes were used to differentiate between motorized vehicles. Campus parking points consisted of a central parking point and several auxiliary parking units. The central parking in the Multi-purpose Building was used for motorized vehicles or bicycles and was guarded 24 hours. Meanwhile, the auxiliary parking units were located in each work unit area which also had a security system. People with disabilities were facilitated through special signposts.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes systematic and authentic assessments as integral components of the learning process. An assessment is an integral part of learning process, facilitate learning and providing holistic feedback to teachers and students, enabling them to plan future learning strategies. Authentic assessment refers to evaluation methods rooted in real-world contexts and conducted during the learning process. The assessment is conducted during the learning process and teachers need to conduct authentic assessment. However, implementing such assessments in classrooms poses significant challenges for educators. This research aims to identify the needs and challenges faced by teachers and students regarding authentic assessment. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using descriptive data analysis collected through teacher and student interviews. Data was also obtained by classroom observations, and questionnaires filled by 24 students. The findings reveal that teachers lack authentic assessment instruments and often rely on multiple-choice tests, which are inadequate for measuring students’ understanding. Based on tes result with 24 students, it reveals that authentic assessment using essay questions on Microsoft Forms provided a deeper measure of students' understanding compared to multiple-choice assessments conducted on platforms like Quizizz, Kahoot, or Gimkit. The finding suggests the need for an authentic assessment instrument utilizing Microsoft Forms, integrated with digital classrooms, to effectively evaluate students' understanding, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, argumentation abilities, and decision-making competencies.

Abstract

BSTRACT Vocational education (SMK) has a strategic role in preparing human resources ready for work. Indonesia has targeted an increase in the proportion of vocational high school students in order to prepare a productive workforce and reduce the unemployment rate of secondary education graduates (Kemdikbud, 2020). However, in reality, the number of junior high school/MTs graduates who choose to continue to vocational high schools is still lower than those who continue to high schools or MA (BPS, 2023). The results of a mini-research conducted by researchers on grade IX students of SMP 1 Dawe Kudus in the 2024/2025 academic year through a questionnaire in the form of a Google form regarding the choice of further studies to SMA/SMK/MA/Islamic Boarding Schools, also showed that SMA is still more popular with students. Of the 206 students, 143 students chose SMA, 54 students chose SMK, 3 students chose MA, and 6 students did not continue their studies. This article examines the factors that cause low interest in vocational high schools and provides strategic recommendations to increase participation in vocational education. Through literature study and data analysis, it was found that negative public perception of vocational schools, disparities in quality between vocational schools, and weak links to the world of work are the main obstacles. It is necessary to transform the image of vocational schools, revitalize the curriculum, and increase synergy with industry to attract more students to vocational education. Keywords: vocational education (vocational school), factor analysis, strategic recommendations.
