Abstract

The transition to Industry 5.0 necessitates a robust legal framework to regulate human capital investment, ensuring digital workforce development aligns with labor protections and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study examines the regulatory structures governing human capital investment in Indonesia, the European Union, and the United States, evaluating their effectiveness in addressing digital transformation challenges, AI-driven employment governance, and workforce adaptability. A mixed-methods approach integrates legal analysis with empirical assessments of policy effectiveness, workforce investment trends, and labor market outcomes. Findings reveal significant disparities in AI workforce governance, skill accreditation, and automation labor rights. Indonesia’s fragmented legal framework hinders workforce reskilling and AI employment governance, while the European Union’s AI Act provides a structured, albeit inconsistently implemented, model for digital employment regulation. The United States, despite its technological leadership, lacks federal AI workforce policies, leading to state-level regulatory variations. The study underscores the necessity of harmonized legal frameworks to bridge workforce skill gaps, protect labor rights, and advance SDG-aligned workforce policies. Future legal reforms must prioritize AI governance, digital workforce training, and cross-border labor protections to ensure equitable workforce transitions. Strengthening public-private partnerships, standardizing AI employment regulations, and enhancing labor rights enforcement will be essential for fostering sustainable human capital investment in the industry 5.0 era. The contribution of research extends beyond theoretical frameworks, providing substantial implications for policy formulation, industry practices, educational advancements, and societal improvements.

Abstract

The increasing religious diversity in Indonesia poses significant challenges to human resource (HR) management in the workplace. This paper explores the role of interfaith law in addressing these challenges and promoting inclusivity in the Indonesian workplace. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the intersection of religious diversity and HR management within the legal framework of Indonesia, particularly through the lens of interfaith law. By examining the current legal provisions and practices surrounding religious rights and freedoms, the paper underscores the critical role that interfaith law plays in creating an environment where employees from diverse religious backgrounds can coexist harmoniously. The urgency of addressing religious diversity in HR management is highlighted by the potential risks of discrimination, conflict, and marginalization, which can negatively impact organizational performance and employee well-being. With Indonesia being a predominantly Muslim country, but home to various other religious communities, the challenge of balancing religious rights and organizational goals remains ever-present. This paper contributes to the growing body of literature on diversity management by proposing legal frameworks and HR practices that not only comply with religious laws but also enhance organizational effectiveness. The findings call for more robust policies that integrate interfaith principles to manage religious diversity effectively, ensuring equitable treatment of all employees and fostering an inclusive workplace culture. By addressing the gaps in existing HR strategies, this study offers valuable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and scholars in managing religious diversity in Indonesia's dynamic workplace environment.

Abstract

Spatial ability constitutes a critical cognitive skill that facilitates students' capacity to comprehend and manipulate spatial information. In recent years, the integration of technology—particularly interactive multimedia tools such as GeoGebra—has garnered increasing attention as a means to enhance spatial ability among elementary school students. This study presents a literature review examining the effectiveness of GeoGebra in fostering spatial abilities in elementary education between 2020 and 2024. A total of eleven peer-reviewed articles were identified using Harzing’s Publish or Perish software in conjunction with Google Scholar. Each study was systematically analyzed, and pertinent data were synthesized into a table summarizing the title, authorship, year of publication, and principal findings. The review indicates that, relative to conventional instructional methods, the use of GeoGebra significantly enhances students’ mathematical comprehension. Key trends identified include notable improvements in visualization, mental rotation, and spatial problem-solving abilities among students engaged in GeoGebra-based instruction. The findings underscore the potential of GeoGebra as an effective pedagogical tool for promoting spatial reasoning and conceptual understanding in elementary mathematics education. These insights carry important implications for curriculum development, suggesting that technology-enhanced learning environments can foster greater student engagement and a deeper grasp of geometric concepts.

Abstract

Academic literacy encompasses all literacy practices, including the scientific writing skills. This sort of writing requires critical, analytical, and evaluative thinking skills, which are closely linked to the construction of arguments within academic texts. This study aims to analyze students’ academic literacy skills as a pilot study for the development of an instructional module on scientific writing based on argumentation. The type of argumentation used in this study is the witness argument model proposed by Douglas Walton. A qualitative approach was employed through document study. The data sources for this research included the course syllabus and students’ journal article manuscripts. Content analysis was used for data analysis, involving procedures of data collection, reduction, and verification. The research findings are described as follows. First, the Academic Literacy course syllabus was designed to incorporate three competencies at the lower taxonomy levels (C1 and C2), four competencies at the medium levels (C3 and C4), and seven competencies at the higher levels (C5 and C6). Second, the representation of the witness argument type in students’ journal articles included expert opinion arguments, analogy arguments, practical reasoning arguments, fact-hypothesis arguments, exception arguments, and precedent arguments. The results of this pilot study may serve as a foundation for further research, particularly in the development of an instructional module for scientific writing based on the witness argument model.

Abstract

Vocational education (SMK) has a strategic role in preparing human resources ready for work. Indonesia has targeted an increase in the proportion of vocational school students in order to prepare a productive workforce and reduce the unemployment rate of secondary education graduates (Ministry of Education and Culture, 2020). However, in reality, the number of students who graduated from junior high school/MTs who choose to continue to vocational schools is still lower than those who continue to high school or MA (BPS, 2023). The results of a mini research conducted by the researcher on grade IX students of SMP 1 Dawe Kudus for the 2024/2025 Academic Year through a questionnaire in the form of a google form about the selection of further study to SMA/SMK/MA/Pondok Pesantren, also show that high school is still more in demand by students. Of the 206 students, 143 students chose high school, 54 students chose vocational school, 3 students chose MA, and 6 students did not continue their studies. This article examines the factors that cause low interest in vocational schools and provides strategic recommendations to increase vocational education participation. Through literature studies and data analysis, it was found that negative public perception of vocational schools, inequality of quality between vocational schools, and weak linkages with the world of work are the main obstacles. It is necessary to transform the image of vocational schools, revitalize the curriculum, and increase synergy with industry to attract more students to vocational education.

Abstract

Teacher professional development (PD) is widely recognized as a key factor in enhancing teaching quality and improving student learning outcomes. However, teachers often face significant barriers to accessing and engaging in PD, which operate at individual, institutional, and systemic levels. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 25 qualitative and mixed-methods studies published between 2010 and 2024 to identify and analyze these barriers. Thematic analysis reveals five major challenges: time constraints and heavy workloads, limited access and infrastructure (especially in remote areas), misalignment between PD content and classroom needs, lack of leadership and policy support, and low teacher motivation and professional identity. These barriers are categorized across three levels: individual (e.g., burnout, lack of motivation), institutional (e.g., inadequate school leadership, absence of collaborative structures), and systemic (e.g., digital divide, centralized and non-contextual policy design). The review also synthesizes key recommendations from the literature, including the need for contextually relevant PD, collaborative models such as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), stronger instructional leadership, and inclusive, long-term policy frameworks. Findings highlight the importance of moving beyond superficial training models toward a systemic, multi-layered approach that fosters a sustainable culture of professional learning and empowers teachers as active agents of educational change.
