Abstract

This study examines landslide disasters through a scientific interpretation approach to the verses of the Qur'an, focusing on the landslide incident at the Cilowong Final Waste Disposal Site (TPSA), Banten. Landslide disasters are not only viewed as natural events, but also as a form of divine warning reflected in QS. Ar-Rum verse 41. This study was conducted using the thematic method (maudhu'i) and a qualitative approach through literature and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the verses of the Qur'an contain scientific signs that can be aligned with contemporary science, but still require a careful interpretation method so as not to deviate from their original meaning. The landslide case in Cilowong reflects the negative impacts of unwise environmental management and emphasizes the need for synergy between religious values and scientific knowledge in disaster management efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of collective awareness in preserving nature while making the Qur'an a spiritual guide in understanding and responding to natural phenomena.

Abstract

This study explores the reconstruction of the concept of I‘tikāf through the scientific interpretation (tafsir ilmi) of the Qur’an, aiming to bridge the gap between spirituality and rationality. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods to analyze Qur’anic verses related to I‘tikāf and various classical and contemporary tafsir works. The primary sources include the Qur’an and interpretations from scholars such as M. Quraish Shihab, al-Maraghi, and Ibn ‘Ashur. The study finds that I‘tikāf, when viewed through the lens of scientific exegesis, offers not only a spiritual retreat but also a space for reflection, intellectual development, and personal transformation. This integrated understanding enhances the relevance of Qur’anic teachings in the context of modern life, emphasizing that spirituality and reason are not mutually exclusive but complementary in the Islamic worldview.

Abstract

The Qur’an contains a wealth of information and regulations regarding the Essence and purpose of the creation of the universe, including the process of human Creation. It describes several stages of human development starting from the prenatal Phase, namely the nutfah (sperm drop), alaqah (a clinging clot), mudghah (a chewed-like Lump of flesh), izam (formation of bones), and khalqan akhar (the formation of a complete Human being). In interpreting these stages, Ar-Razi applies a philosophical approach, while Hamka employs a scientific approach in their interpretations of Surah al-Mu’minun verses 12-14. The main issue explored in this study is how the two exegetes interpret Qur’an Surah al-Mu’minun verses 12-14 concerning the process of human creation. This research Is qualitative, employing a library research approach and a comparative method between Mafatih al-Ghayb and Tafsir al-Azhar. Data collection is conducted through Documentation techniques, which involve gathering relevant written or recorded Documents. The findings conclude that although both scholars present similar theories, They adopt different approaches. Ar-Razi interprets these verses as referring to the creation Of Prophet Adam and his descendants, whereas Hamka interprets them as describing the general process of human creation (the offspring of Adam).

Abstract

This research aims to examine the verses of the Qur'an about the process of human creation, especially QS. Al-Mu'minun verses 12–14, through the approach of scientific interpretation and comparing it with the findings of modern embryology. These verses gradually describe the process of human occurrence starting from the essence of the earth, nuthfah (semen), 'alaqah (a clot of blood), to mudhghah (a lump of flesh), which is then formed into bones and wrapped in meat. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method by examining classical and contemporary interpretations, as well as scientific data from modern embryology. The results of the study show that there is an alignment between the description of the Qur'an and the development of modern science, especially in the stages of fetal development. This shows that the Qur'an is not only a book of spiritual guidance, but also contains scientific cues that are relevant to scientific findings. Nevertheless, the scientific interpretation of the verse must still be done carefully so as not to get caught up in the imposition of meaning (scientific fallacy).

Abstract

The ecological potential of marine resources in the coastal area of Karangjaya can be seen from the various riches and abundance of the components living far from the big city population, gradually. Karangjaya has multiple materials that can be used as tools to survive, considering that Karangjaya is very strategic in searching for fish, coral, and sea sand. However, the problem is that Karangjaya still cannot cultivate the results of its livelihood. The most striking issues are the challenges in the management of its problems. Scientific interpretation is present in studying materialistic objects and components of an item to explore messages related to the ecology of Karangjaya empowerment in increasing local wisdom and planting reason in cultivating it, in the object of scientific interpretation based on the object of marine study. This study was conducted to find out what shortcomings are not yet known to the Karangjaya population from the aspect of wisdom and cultivation, where scientific interpretation that discusses maritime can help develop local wisdom and can cultivate the results of its livelihood.

Abstract

This article explores Quranic verses related to earthquakes through the lens of tafsir ilmi (scientific exegesis) and analyzes their correlation with core concepts in seismology. The study is motivated by the need to integrate revelation and science in addressing natural phenomena comprehensively and contextually. This research employs a qualitative method through literature review, classical and contemporary tafsir analysis, and scientific examination of fundamental seismological theories. The findings reveal that verses such as Surah Az-Zalzalah, Al-Hajj, and An-Nazi’at describe earthquake phenomena in a manner that does not contradict modern scientific explanations, such as tectonic plate movement and seismic waves. Classical interpretations emphasize spiritual and eschatological dimensions, while tafsir ilmi offers a rational and scientific reading. This study concludes that the correlation between the Qur’an and seismology is not aimed at proving the Qur’an through science, but rather at building epistemological coherence that enhances the understanding of ayat kauniyah (signs of nature). This study contributes to the development of integrative Quranic exegesis and encourages ecological awareness among Muslims in responding to natural disasters with both wisdom and scientific insight.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the meanings of science in Surah An-Nahl Verse 56 through the approach of scientific interpretation which with the letter can be related between the combination of Surah An-Nahl 56 to food security in the Pandeglang Carita area. The interpretation of science as a method rather than interpretation seeks a concept of how the Qur'an can adapt and can distribute its role to global and economic challenges as is the case in Pandeglang Carita. More than that, the interpretation of knowledge can be used as a source of role in studying and processing natural resources in this world. In the view of the Tafsir of science in Surah An-Nahl: 65 there is a correlation with the problems in Pandeglang Carita. The interpretation of knowledge in Surah An-Nahl can make the people of Pandeglang Carita improve the quality and general knowledge in managing resources in their area, especially in Pandeglang Carita in the sea area. Pandeglang Carita has many problems in knowing the benefits of marine resources and components. The Tafsir Ilmi can be a solution to the detention of food and staple food of the Pandeglang Carita community Keywords : Tafsir Ilmi, Surah An-Nahl 65, Pandeglang Carita, Food Security

Abstract

Abstract

Water resource management in Indonesia has tended to be dominated by technocratic and sectoral approaches, without adequate integration with religious values that can contribute to ecological awareness. On the other hand, the approach of scientific interpretation in the Islamic tradition holds many rich and relevant sustainability principles. However, these principles have not been systematically utilized in environmental management policies, especially related to strategic infrastructure such as the Sindangheula Dam. This study aims to bridge the gap between epistemic and praxis in water resource management with the formulation of an integrative framework that links the values of the Qur'an through scientific interpretation and the concept of sustainability. Using a qualitative-contextual approach and thematic analysis methods to Qur'anic verses related to water, this study found that principles such as monotheism, trust, balance (al-mīzān), justice ('adl), and prohibition of waste (isrāf) have direct relevance to fair, participatory, and sustainable water governance practices. As a case study, the Sindangheula Dam is used to demonstrate the potential application of Qur'anic values in socio-technical and public policy contexts. The results of this study conclude that the interpretation of science is not only a hermeneutic approach, but also an axiological paradigm that can strengthen natural resource policies based on spiritual values and ecological sustainability. These findings open up opportunities to develop integrative studies between Islamic sciences, environmental science, and public policy in the context of sustainability.

Abstract

This study reveals a significant correlation between the phenomenon of underwater rivers discussed in modern oceanographic studies and the scientific signs contained in Surah Al-Furqan verse 53. This verse not only illustrates the difference between two types of water, but also represents physical phenomena that can be explained scientifically, such as the existence of halocline layers and hydrogen sulfide compounds that appear in the transition area between fresh water and sea water. Both classical and contemporary interpretations show that the Qur'an implicitly conveys instructions regarding natural realities that can only be understood through a contemporary scientific approach. The scientific interpretation approach opens up integrative opportunities between divine revelation and empirical knowledge, which not only strengthens the dimension of faith but also stimulates rational, scientific, and spiritual thinking in exploring the meaning of the kauniyah verses. Thus, this study emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in understanding the Qur'an in a way that is relevant to the dynamics of science and the challenges of the times.
