Abstract

This research examines the philosophical and scientific meaning related to tawhid (oneness of God) in Islam through qualitative research methods with a literature study approach. The research aims to understand the concept of monotheism from ontological, epistemological and axiological dimensions. The results show that monotheism is not just a recognition of the oneness of Allah, but is a basis for understanding the reality of life. Ontologically, tawhid affirms Allah as Absolute Being. In epistemology, monotheism bridges revealed knowledge and reason. Meanwhile, in axiology, monotheism provides a system of values ​​and ethics that form character. This concept is supported by modern scientific discoveries such as the Big Bang theory, DNA and quantum entanglement. In practice, monotheism gives birth to the principles of anti-discrimination, human unity, and the concept of the caliph who protects the environment. In the modern era, monotheism remains relevant as a dynamic concept that provides solutions to contemporary problems, while maintaining the essence of recognizing the oneness of Allah.

Abstract

This study explores the philosophical and scientific meanings related to Islam. Philosophy and scientification in the Islamic context are complementary in understanding reality and enhancing human knowledge. Through the integration of faith and reason, Islamic tradition has successfully developed a knowledge system grounded in moral and spiritual principles. Consequently, scientification in Islam is not merely the practical application of technology but also an effort to comprehend God's creation and elevate human dignity holistically. Ontology in the Islamic context refers to an in-depth investigation into the nature of existence and reality as they relate to Islamic teachings. Several principles of Islamic epistemology pertain to the definition of knowledge, its sources, objects, and scientific methods within Islamic epistemology. In Islam, axiology examines values or ethics, where ethics (akhlaq) serves as the ultimate goal for those pursuing knowledge itself.

Abstract

The study of faith in philosophical and scientific contexts is an attempt to understand the spiritual dimension of human beings from different perspectives. In philosophy, faith is explored through in-depth questions about the existence of God, the relationship between faith and reason, and the moral values ​​that arise from faith. This approach encourages individuals to think about the nature of their beliefs and enforce them in everyday life. Meanwhile, the scientific approach emphasizes the empirical aspects of faith, focusing on its impact on mental health, social behavior, and religious experience. Research in psychology, sociology, and neuroscience offers insights into how faith affects the lives of individuals and groups, and how religious experiences can be explained through a scientific lens. The combination of philosophical and scientific approaches to understanding faith not only enriches discussions about faith but also provides a foundation for constructive dialogue between religion and science. By understanding faith from both perspectives, we can explore deeper and more relevant meanings, and bridge the gap between spiritual beliefs and scientific knowledge. This article aims to examine the interaction between philosophy and science related to faith, and its strengthening for individuals and society in facing the challenges of modern life. Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between science and revelation in understanding human creation, particularly within the context of scientific exegesis (tafsir ilmiy) and findings in genetics. The primary objective of this research is to integrate the Quranic explanation of the stages of human creation with scientific concepts in the fields of embryology and genetics. The methodology used is a literature review, comparing Quranic verses on human creation with modern scientific discoveries related to fertilization, embryonic development, and genetic formation. The results of this study show that while the Quran and science use different approaches, they complement each other in describing the stages of human creation, both biologically and spiritually. This research reveals the alignment between the Quranic descriptions and modern scientific findings, such as fertilization processes and embryonic development. In conclusion, the integration of science and revelation provides a more comprehensive understanding of human creation, emphasizing the importance of a harmonious relationship between science and religion in contemporary times. Further research could explore the relationship between science and revelation in other fields and develop a more dynamic methodology for interpreting revelation in the context of evolving scientific knowledge.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas moderasi dalam dunia fashion khususnya hijab berdasarkan Tafsir Al-Mizan karya Thabathabai pada Surat Al-Ahzab Ayat 59. Tafsir Al-Mizan dikenal dengan pendekatan filosofis dan rasional yang mengintegrasikan aspek teologis dan sosial, menekankan konteks historis dan linguistik untuk memahami ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an. Thabathabai menggunakan metode analisis kritis yang menggabungkan tafsir bil ma'tsur dan tafsir bil ra'yi, mempertimbangkan aspek sosial dan budaya. Penelitian ini merumuskan beberapa pertanyaan kunci, di antaranya: apa makna hijab dalam konteks ayat ini, bagaimana pandangan moderasi dalam busana Muslim, serta relevansi ajaran hijab dalam masyarakat modern. Maka dari itu, pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hijab berfungsi sebagai simbol kesopanan dan identitas yang sebaiknya diterapkan secara moderat, baik dalam penampilan fisik maupun sikap, dan tetap relevan jika dipahami dengan mendalam tanpa terjebak pada interpretasi yang kaku. Penulis menyarankan agar selanjutnya penafsiran hijab juga memperhatikan konteks sosial dan budaya yang dinamis untuk mendukung penerapan yang moderat dan inklusif.

Abstract

Fenomena film bertema bidaah telah memicu beragam reaksi dalam masyarakat Indonesia, mulai dari dukungan yang kuat hingga pertentangan yang tajam. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dinamika perspektif pro dan kontra tersebut melalui kacamata filsafat ilmu, dengan menganalisis bagaimana konstruksi pengetahuan, nilai, dan interpretasi agama membentuk persepsi publik terhadap film bertema bidaah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang berlandaskan pada filsafat ilmu, khususnya fokus pada aspek epistemologis, aksiologis, dan ontologis dari isu-isu tersebut. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa perbedaan latar belakang pendidikan, pemahaman agama, dan kecenderungan ideologi merupakan faktor kunci yang mempengaruhi spektrum respon masyarakat. Lebih jauh lagi, film sebagai media komunikasi massa memainkan peran penting dalam memperluas atau memicu kekhawatiran tentang otoritas agama dan batas-batas penafsiran. Penelitian ini menawarkan wawasan filosofis tentang interaksi antara pengetahuan dan media dalam konteks budaya dan agama, dan mengundang refleksi kritis dari penonton dan pembuat film.

Abstract

The waste crisis in the big cities reflects not only the technical and structural failures of waste management, but also the moral and spiritual deterioration of modern society. However, the study of ethical solutions based on the thoughts of contemporary Islamic figures, especially Fazlur Rahman, is still limited, showing that there is a research gap in integrating dynamic Qur'anic ethics with today's ecological problems. This study aims to analyze Rahman's thoughts on human moral responsibility towards nature and its relevance in dealing with the waste crisis. Using a qualitative approach through literature study, this study applies Rahman's double movement method to interpret the Qur'anic text historically and contextually. The findings show that the Qur'anic ethics formulated by Rahman views nature as a divine mandate that must be maintained, so that waste management is not only a technocratic obligation, but also a form of spiritual and social responsibility. These ethics can be the basis for forming collective ecological awareness, encouraging sustainable lifestyles, and inspiring environmentally just public policies. This study concludes that the resolution of the ecological crisis requires a transformation of moral consciousness, with religion as the source of value that guides humans to act justly towards all creation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Konsep Keadilan Sosial dalam Tafsir Fazlur Rahman: Analisis terhadap Prinsip Moral Qur’ani”. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana Fazlur Rahman memahami konsep keadilan sosial dalam Al-Qur’an melalui pendekatan hermeneutika double movement yang ia gagas. Fazlur Rahman menekankan bahwa pesan moral Al-Qur’an bersifat universal dan harus dipahami secara kontekstual agar dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sosial modern. Keadilan sosial, menurutnya, bukan sekadar distribusi ekonomi yang merata, melainkan upaya menegakkan nilai kemanusiaan, kebebasan, dan tanggung jawab moral dalam struktur masyarakat. Melalui analisis terhadap karya-karya utama Fazlur Rahman seperti Major Themes of the Qur’an dan Islam and Modernity, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa keadilan sosial merupakan inti dari misi etika Al-Qur’an yang menuntut transformasi sosial berlandaskan tauhid dan moralitas universal. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis isi terhadap teks-teks Fazlur Rahman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gagasan keadilan sosial Rahman berakar pada pemahaman moral Qur’ani yang dinamis, yang menolak legalisme tekstual semata dan menekankan aktualisasi nilai-nilai etis wahyu dalam konteks sosial-historis yang terus berkembang. Abstract

Riset ini berorientasi untuk mengemukakan analisis mendalam atas interpretasi Amina Wadud terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an tentang keadilan, khususnya dalam QS. an-Nisā' [4]:129. Riset ini berorientasi dalam rangka mengeksplorasi signifikansi eksegesis feminisnya dalam kaitannya dengan wacana keadilan gender dalam kerangka pemikiran Islam kontemporer. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada pemahaman bahwa interpretasi tradisional terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an tentang poligami seringkali dipengaruhi oleh perspektif patriarki, yang cenderung melanggengkan status subordinat perempuan dalam struktur keluarga. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis karya Amina Wadud yang berpengaruh, Qur'an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman's Perspective. Temuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Amina Wadud menafsirkan ayat kitab suci Al-Qur'an berkenaan dengan legalitas bukanlah sebagai hal yang didukung terhadap praktik tersebut, melainkan sebagai batasan moral yang mensyaratkan keadilan sejati suatu kondisi yang, pada kenyataannya, hampir mustahil dipenuhi oleh manusia. Ia menggarisbawahi bahwa esensi ayat tersebut terletak pada perlindungan hak-hak perempuan dan promosi prinsip-prinsip universal kemanusiaan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan transisi metodologis dari modus penafsiran legalistik menuju pendekatan etis-kontekstual yang berlandaskan prinsip-prinsip keadilan dan kesetaraan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini berkontribusi signifikan terhadap kemajuan wacana eksegesis feminis dan menawarkan jalan baru untuk mengeksplorasi integrasi hermeneutika gender dengan maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah dalam studi penafsiran Al-Qur'an kontemporer. Abstract This research seeks to provide an in-depth analysis of Amina Wadud’s interpretation of Qur’anic verses concerning polygamy, specifically QS. an-Nisā’ [4]:3 and QS. an-Nisā’ [4]:129. The study aims to explore the significance of her feminist exegesis in relation to the discourse on gender justice within the framework of contemporary Islamic thought. This research is grounded in the understanding that traditional interpretations of Qur’anic verses on polygamy are frequently influenced by patriarchal perspectives, which tend to perpetuate the subordinate status of women within the family structure. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes Amina Wadud’s influential work Qur’an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman’s Perspective. The findings of this study reveal that Amina Wadud interprets the Qur’anic verse on polygamy not as an endorsement of the practice, but as a moral limitation that requires genuine justice a condition that is, in reality, nearly impossible for humans to fulfill. She underscores that the essence of the verse lies in safeguarding women’s rights and promoting universal principles of humanity. The conclusion of this study demonstrates a methodological transition from a legalistic mode of interpretation to an ethical-contextual approach grounded in the principles of justice and equality. Consequently, this research contributes significantly to the advancement of feminist exegetical discourse and offers new avenues for exploring the integration of gender hermeneutics with maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah in contemporary Qur’anic interpretation studies. Abstract

This study aims to explore the semantic approach proposed by Toshihiko Izutsu in analyzing key terms in the Qur’an, which play a crucial role in shaping a worldview derived from the Qur’an. Toshihiko Izutsu, a Japanese scholar recognized as a pioneer in Qur'anic semantic studies, introduced a method that emphasizes the relationships between words within the context of revelation. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this research examines Izutsu's seminal texts such as God and Man in the Qur’an and Ethico-Religious Concepts in the Qur’an, as well as analyzes various relevant secondary literature in the fields of linguistics, exegesis (tafsir), and philosophy of language. The findings of this study show that, according to Izutsu, each term in the Qur’an does not have an isolated meaning but forms a semantic network that reflects the theological values and concepts in Islam. Terms like faith (iman), disbelief (kufr), piety (taqwa), and justice (‘adl) are interconnected within a structure of meaning that represents the relationship between humans and God, between humans, and between humans and the universe. This semantic approach offers the potential for more reflective and contextual interpretations, enabling the meaning of the Qur’an to be understood in a more holistic, profound, and relevant way to the challenges of the modern era. Therefore, the semantic perspective put forth by Toshihiko Izutsu not only contributes to the advancement of contemporary exegesis techniques but also enriches the understanding of the essence of the language of revelation as a manifestation of the religious consciousness present in the human soul. Keywords: Toshihiko Izutsu, Semantics, Qur’an, Key Vocabulary, Qur’anic Worldview   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pendekatan semantik yang diusulkan oleh Toshihiko Izutsu dalam menganalisis istilah-istilah kunci dalam Al-Qur’an, yang memiliki peranan krusial dalam membentuk pandangan dunia yang bersumber dari Al-Qur’an. Toshihiko Izutsu, seorang akademisi Jepang yang diakui sebagai pionir dalam studi semantik Al-Qur’an, memperkenalkan metode yang menekankan hubungan antar kata dalam konteks wahyu. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang didasarkan pada studi pustaka, penelitian ini mengkaji teks-teks utama Izutsu seperti God and Man in the Qur’an dan Ethico-Religious Concepts in the Qur’an, serta menganalisis berbagai literatur sekunder yang relevan dengan bidang linguistik, tafsir, dan filsafat bahasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menurut Izutsu, setiap istilah dalam Al-Qur’an tidak memiliki arti yang berdiri sendiri, melainkan membentuk jaringan semantik yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai dan konsep teologis dalam Islam. Istilah seperti iman, kufr, taqwa, dan ‘adl saling terhubung dalam struktur makna yang menggambarkan hubungan antara manusia dan Tuhan, hubungan antar manusia, serta hubungan manusia dengan alam semesta. Pendekatan semantik ini memberikan peluang untuk penafsiran yang lebih reflektif dan kontekstual, sehingga arti Al-Qur’an dapat dipahami secara lebih holistik, mendalam, dan relevan dengan tantangan di era modern. Oleh karena itu, cara pandang semantik yang diajukan oleh Toshihiko Izutsu tidak hanya berperan dalam kemajuan teknik tafsir masa kini, tetapi juga menambah wawasan mengenai esensi bahasa wahyu sebagai wujud dari kesadaran religius yang ada dalam jiwa manusia.
