Abstract

Abstarct: This research aims to find out errors in constructing content question made by the eleventh grade students of students SMK Bina Putra Sungai Raya Pontianak, to identify the type of errors in constructing content question and to investigate the percentage of the type of error in constructing content question. The method of research that used is a descriptive method. The technique of data collecting is a measurement technique. Sample of the research is 25 students. After having conducted the research, the writer found some fact that the eleventh grade stutents of SMK Bina Putra Pontianak made some errors in constructing content question, most of students could constructed content question well although there were some students still made some errors in constructing content question, there are five aspect that writer analized, those are question word, Auxiliary, Verb, Auxiliary, To be and Compliment. Most of the students made errors in constructing content question, especially in auxilliary and complement aspects with percentage 73% and 64%, that is High. These errors cover on four types of error, they are error of ommision, addition, substitution and ordering. The error of substitution is the most common error of all. Key word: Analysis, Error, Constructing, Content Question   Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kesalahan siswa kelas XI SMK Bina Putra Sungai Raya Pontianak dalam membuat content question, untuk mengidentifikasi tipe kesalahan dalam membuat content quention, dan untuk mengetahui persentase kesalahan dalam membuat content quention. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pengukuran. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Setelah melakukan penelitian penulis menemukan beberapa fakta bahwa siswa kelas XI SMK Bina Putra Pontianak melakukan beberapa kesalahan dalam membuat content quention. Kebanyakan siswa bisa membuat content quention dengan baik, akan tetapi ada beberapa siswa yang masih melakukan beberapa kesalahan dalam membuat content quention.  Ada lima aspek yang penulis analisis, yaitu question word, Auxiliary, Verb, Auxiliary, To be dan Compliment. Kebanyakan siswa membuat kesalahan pada aspek Auxiliary dan Compliment dengan persentase 73% dan 64% dengan kualifikasi tinggi. Kategori kesalahan mencakup empat tipe kesalahan, yaitu ommision, addition, substitution and ordering. Tipe kesalahan subtitution adalah tipe kesalahan yang sering dilakukan oleh siswa. Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve the students’ speaking ability through short drama. Based on the writer experience during teaching, the students find difficulty to get ideas and how to pronounce the dialogue of short drama. The methodology of this research is a classroom action research which consisted of 3 cycles. The research was conducted at SMP DIAN SEBADU in the academic year 2013/2014. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students. The number of participants in this research was 30 students. The result of this research has shown that the students’ progress in improves speaking in each cycle. First cycle was 5.2 point (less than 70, not achieved). The second cycles was 6.2 point (less than 70, not achieved). The third cycle was 7.1 point (Achieved) which was higher than the KKM score. In conclusion, the use of short drama had a value in improving the students’ speaking ability. Key Word: Improving Students’ Speaking Ability Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa melalui drama pendek. Berdasarkan pengalaman penulis selama mengajar, siswa-siswa menemukan kesulitan dalam menemukan ide-ide dari drama pendek dan cara mengucapkan percakapan dari drama pendek tersebut. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP DIAN SEBADU tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi kelas VIII yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini pada siklus pertama poin siswa 5.2 (kurang dari 70, tidak tercapai). Hasil siklus kedua poin siswa 6.2 (kurang dari 70, tidak tercapai). Hasil siklus tiga poin siswa 7.1 (tercapai) dimana lebih dari KKM. Dapat disimpulkan, penggunaan drama pendek dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Kata Kunci: Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berbicara Siswa

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to know whether the bamboo dance method is effective or not in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text  to the the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015. The method of this research is quantitative research in quasi-experimental research. The subject of this research were the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015 which divided into two groups, experimental group that consist of 50 students and control which are consist of 50 students. The research findings showed that bamboo dance method were very effective in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text to the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah metode bamboo dance efektif atau tidak untuk diterapkan di dalam pengajaran membaca komprehensif teks deskriptif dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas 10 SMAN 06 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi-eksperimen. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 10 SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang mana dibagi kedalam dua grup, eksperimental grup yang terdiri dari 50 siswa dan kontrol grup yang juga terdiri dari 50 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa metode bamboo dance sangat efektif dalam pengajaran membaca komprehensif teks deskriptif pada siswa kelas 10 SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted on the seventh grade student of SMP Negeri 16 Pontianak in academic year 2017/2018. The research was conducted in order to solve the problem of students in vocabulary achievement on transactional text. Most of the students had lack of vocabulary. To achieve the objectives of the research, a classroom action research was conducted. The researcher observed the students’ vocabulary achievement by collecting the data through direct and measurement technique. The tools of data collecting were observation checklist, field note, and test. The test contained 30 questions, and implemented to 30 seventh grade class B students. This research was done in three cycles. The result of data analysis showed that Domino game was a successful technique for improving students’ vocabulary achievement. Observation checklist and field note also showed improvement in teaching learning process. The words in material, which had provided by the teacher as an example in the beginning of the lesson activated students’ background knowledge about materials. Working together in groups when playing Domino game also encouraged the students to remember the new vocabulary, they also became active in class. It can be concluded that the students’ vocabulary achievement by using Domino game technique was improved. Keywords: Vocabulary, Domino game technique, Transactional text

Abstract

Abstract  This research aimed to improve students’ vocabulary using realia to class VII F students of SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya in Academic Year 2017/2018. This research was conducted based on the problems found in the classroom. It was found that students had difficulties in understanding on meaning of words, spelling and pronunciation. This research was conducted through a Classroom Action Research in two cycles to 32 students of class VII F. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation and measurement technique. The tools of collecting data were observation checklist, field notes and test. The qualitative data were analyzed using the following procedure: organizing the data, describing the data and building interpretation. For the quantitative data were analyzed by finding and comparing the mean score of the test in cycle 1 and cycle 2. Based on the findings in this research, it was  found that using realia in teaching and learning improved students’ understanding on meaning of words, ability in spelling and ability in pronuncing the words. Besides, the presence of the things interests the students in teaching and learning in the classroom. Keywords: Improve, Vocabulary, Realia.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to find out the effectiveness of reciprocal technique to teach narrative texts to the Year-10 students of SMK Cahaya Bangsa in Academic Year 2018/2019. The research participants were Class X Pharmacy which consisted of 25 students. The data were collected through a written test. The finding showed that the students’ mean score of post-test (72) was higher than that of pre-test (56). Statistically the t-test (11.58) was higher than the t-table (0.381) and the effect of the treatment was categorized strong (2.31). In short, the use of Reciprocal Technique affects the teaching of narrative texts significantly. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis which stated “Reciprocal Technique affects the teaching of reading comprehension of narrative texts to the Year-10 students of “SMK Cahaya Bangsa Rasau Jaya in Academic Year 2018/2019” was accepted.  Keywords: Reading, Narrative Text, Reciprocal Technique

Abstract

Abstract : This research was conducted on 8A students of SMP Mujahidin Pontianak in academic year 2012/2013. The purpose of this research was to improve students’ storytelling ability by using Stick Puppet and Jigsaw technique. The problem found in this research was students’ difficulties in retelling setting, characters, conflict, solution, and moral value of a story. Therefore, to overcome the problem, the researcher designed a classroom action research by using Stick Puppet and Jigsaw technique. The classroom action research was conducted in three cycles. Each of the cycles began with planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stage. In collecting the data, the researcher used close-ended questionnaires, observation checklists and field notes to record the process in the classroom; and performance test to measure students’ storytelling performance. Based on the research finding, students’ storytelling ability improved from first to third cycles. From this result, action hypothesis that stick puppet and jigsaw technique can improve students’ storytelling ability to 8A students of SMP Mujahidin in academic year 2012/2013 was accepted. Keywords : Storytelling, stick puppet, jigsaw technique Abstrak : Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa 8A SMP Mujahidin Pontianak Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam bercerita kembali dengan menggunakan boneka tongkat dan tekhnik Jigsaw. Masalah yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah kesulitan siswa dalam menceritakan kembali latar, tokoh, konflik, solusi konflik, dan nilai moral dari sebuah cerita. Oleh karena itu, peneliti merancang sebuah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan boneka tongkat dan tekhnik jigsaw. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Setiap siklus dimulai dengan tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner terutup, lembar pengamatan dan catatan lapangan untuk menceritakan proses yang terjadi di dalam pembelajaran, serta tes penampilan untuk menilai penampilan bercerita kembali dari siswa. Berdasarkan temuan, kemampuan siswa dalam bercerita kembali meningkat dari siklus pertama hingga siklus ketiga. Dari hasil ini disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis tentang penggunaan boneka tongkat dan teknik jigsaw terbukti dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam bercerita kembali. Kata kunci : Bercerita kembali, Boneka tongkat, tekhnik jigsaw

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to design a comic based on West Kalimantan folklore to support teaching reading on narrative text. The research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh with the tenth grade students in academic year 2015/2016 and their English teacher as the participants. The method of this research was development research which consists of three phases of ADDIE, they are analyze, design and develop. The comis is intended to be supplementary materials in teaching reading on narrative text. From the need analysis, it was found that the students need to improve their reading comprehension with an interesting and eye-catching material. The research focused on creating the material to fit in the needs. To validate the product, an expert validation is used with the result of 86% approval about the validation of the product being made. This result meant that Comic is a very good teaching material for teaching reading on narrative text based on West Kalimantan Folklore.   Keywords: Comic, Reading Material, Development Research Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendesain sebuah komik berdasarkan cerita daerah Kalimantan Barat untuk mendukung pengajaran membaca pada teks naratif. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh yang melibatkan siswa/i kelas sebelas pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan guru bahasa Inggris mereka sebagai peserta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang terdiri tiga fase ADDIE yaitu analisis, desain dan pengembangan. Komik digunakan sebagai materi tambahan dalam mengajarkan teks naratif. Pada tahap analisis kebutuhan, diperoleh informasi bahwa siswa/i perlu meningkatkan pemahaman membaca dengan materi yang menarik untuk dipandang. Penelitian ini maka berpusat pada pembuatan materi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tersebut. Untuk mengesahkan produk yang didesain, validasi ahli digunakan dengan hasil 86% sebagai validasi yang sah untuk produk yang didesain. Hasil tersebut dapat diartikan bahwa Komik adalah materi pengajaran yang sangat baik untuk digunakan di dalam pengajaran reading pada teks naratif yang berdasarkan cerita daerah Kalimantan Barat.   Kata Kunci: Komik, Materi Membaca, Penelitian Pengembangan

Abstract

  Abstract: This research aims to know whether the process of CSR can improve students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text to the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Singkawang. The research method used is a Classroom Action Research. The study sample is 35 students. Based on the analysis of  the  data, the mean score in the first cycle was 76,2 which was categorized as good and in the second cycle was 88 which was categorized as excellent. The result of the students’ mean score reached 99% of standard minimum score. It can be concluded that CSR can improve students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text.   Keywords: CSR, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive Text Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah proses CSR dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks deskriptif untuk siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Singkawang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Sampel penelitian adalah 35 siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data, nilai rata-rata pada siklus I adalah 76,2 yang dikategorikan baik dan pada siklus II adalah 88 yang dikategorikan sangat baik. Hasil nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 99% dari standar nilai minimum. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa CSR dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks deskriptif.   Kata Kunci: CSR, pemahaman membaca, teks deskriptif

Abstract

 AbstractThe purpose of this research is to know whether Retelling Story with Wayang in teaching speaking skill is effective to the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 01 Seluas in academic year 2015/2016. The method used was quasi experimental research. The subject of this research consisted of 33 students for experimental group and 33 students for the control group. In collecting the data, the researcher who teaches both of the group, prepared the worksheet, media, and speaking material. Then, the data of this research were taken from the measurement technique (pre-test and post-test) by using oral test. Based on the data analysis, the mean score of pre-test in experimental group was 38.91 and 42.82 for the control group. On the other hand, the mean score of post-test in experimental was 72.48 and 63.12 for control group. The mean score in experimental group represented high score than in control group. Through the t-test computation, t-value was higher than t-table (4.98>2.00) and the effect size of this treatment is 1.5 that means the treatment has strong effect. It indicated that Retelling Story with wayang was effective in Teaching Speaking Skill in terms of fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Referring to the result, the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and thus the alternative hypothesis which says” Retelling Story with wayang is effective in Teaching Speaking Skill was accepted.  Keyword: Effectiveness, Retelling Story, Wayang, Teaching Speaking
