Abstract

Abstract

Whip smut symptoms have emerged in sugarcane plantations in Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. However, the identity of the pathogen and its sensitivity to various fungicidal active ingredients remain unclear. This study aims to identify the whip smut pathogen in sugarcane plantations in Central Lampung Regency and evaluate its sensitivity to different fungicidal active ingredients. The research involved morphological and molecular identification of the pathogen, along with sensitivity testing against fungicides containing carbendazim, prochloraz, and mancozeb, as well as plant-based fungicides derived from puyangan (Zingiber zerumbet) and jamuan (Curcuma zedoaria) extracts. Morphological analysis revealed that the whip smut pathogen has septate hyphae, cylindrical sporidia measuring 7.45–18.31 µm in length and 1.63–3.89 µm in width, and round, yellowish-brown teliospores with an average size of 6.39 × 6.66 µm. Molecular identification confirmed that the LA UKN isolate from Central Lampung Regency belongs to Sporisorium scitamineum, with a bootstrap value of 93%. Sensitivity testing indicated that the pathogen is highly susceptible to carbendazim and prochloraz but less sensitive to mancozeb, puyangan extract, and jamuan extract.

Abstract

Arabic writing skills are essential for comprehensive language mastery. However, teaching free writing often faces challenges, including less engaging methods and learning models. This research aims to identify effective learning models, key elements, and obstacles encountered in teaching Arabic free writing skills. Free writing is the culminating stage in developing Arabic writing skills, encompassing expressing thoughts and feelings using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Employing a qualitative approach with descriptive and analytical designs, data is collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results reveal that the applied learning model is structured from objective setting to evaluation, focusing on students' ability to write grammatically correct sentences. Learning material, themed "Introduction," is delivered via dictation, with evaluation through free writing tests. Motivation emerges as a vital element. Obstacles include varied educational backgrounds and limited resources. This research provides insights for educators and curriculum developers, offering a structured and comprehensive learning model and identifying crucial motivational elements to enhance Arabic free writing skills. A well-defined pedagogical model, encompassing clear objectives, relevant materials, and appropriate assessment techniques, is necessary to foster effective free writing skills among students, as is considering motivational factors to engage students in the learning process and overcome potential challenges.

Abstract

Pests in sugarcane plantations are a major cause of damage, which could lead to severe damage to the crop, reduction of sugar quality, and significant economic loss. One of the major pests known in sugarcane plantations is stem borer (Chilo sacchriphagus), which attacks the canes. Two primary parasitoids, Trichogramma chilonis, which predates the stem borer eggs, and the Jatiroto fly (Diatraeophaga striatalis), which predates the stem borer larvae, are discussed here. This paper presents a time-dependent ten-dimensional dynamical mathematical model consisting of four-stage stem borer compartments, three-stage Trichogramma compartments, and three-stage Jatiroto compartments. Simulations are presented to describe the phenomenon of Trichogramma predation, Jatiroto predation, and simultaneous predation of both predators. It is shown that the release rate of each predator and a combined release of two predators can significantly reduce the infestation levels to a tolerable level for sugarcane production. The oscillatory dynamics of the stem borers and the Jatiroto flies affected the release timing strategy based on the level of infestation in the field. The results are expected to help us better understand the predator-prey phenomenon in the field and improve the forecasting of infestations in the field.

The data collection technique uses observation, interview and documentation techniques. The data validity technique uses source triangulation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction methods, data presentation and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the management of blended learning has not been carried out well. This study found that (1) The management of blended learning materials has not been carried out well, teachers do not try to distinguish the materials used in blended learning. (2) The management of the blended learning process has not been maximized. Teachers do not understand classroom management. (3) The management of blended learning outcomes has not been maximized, there is a tendency for teachers to emphasize learning outcomes more on cognitive aspects and less touching on affective aspects. Therefore, teachers at SD Supriyadi Semarang need to conduct a review so that the material presented is in accordance with the provisions. Teachers as educators must understand classroom management in blended learning. In the management of learning outcomes, teachers should apply three-aspect assessment and not lean towards only one aspect. In addition, the school should hold a dilkat for teachers so that teachers can do this blended learning well. This research recommends increasing teacher competency in blended learning management to support more effective and comprehensive learning. For future research, it is expected to expand the variables and research objects and is expected to use more research literature

Abstract

Collaboration is a core competency to promote effective teamwork and prepare students for success in both academic and professional environments. Permaculture gamification learning has the potential to enhance students' collaboration competency. Permaculture is an artificial ecosystem that encourages sustainable agricultural practices. There is a noticeable gap in the literature on integrating gamification into permaculture learning to improve students' collaboration skills. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the students’ collaboration competency improvement through the application of permaculture gamification as a learning strategy on ecosystem topics. This study used a quantitative research method with nonequivalent (pretest and posttest) control-group design. There are experimental group and control group, both groups take a pretest and posttest but only experimental group receives the treatment. The sample in this study consisted of 50 students from one high school in the city of Bandung. The students in the control group followed the regular learning process in the classroom. Meanwhile, the students in the experimental group followed the permaculture gamification learning. The instruments used in this study were collaboration assessment tools, including self-assessment, peer assessment, and observation rubric. Statistical t-test applied to analyze di difference on students collaboration competency outcomes after treatment. The N-Gain value was calculated to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment to improve students’ collaboration competency. The t-test results showed that there is a significant difference in students’ collaboration competency between the two groups (p = 0.04). Permaculture gamification learning significantly improved students’s collaboration competency (p < 0.05). Based on the N-Gain value, permaculture gamification learning has a higher impact on students’ collaboration competency (N-Gain = 0.56) compared to the regular learning strategy (N-Gain = 0.40). It can be concluded that permaculture gamification learning can effectively improve students’ collaboration competency.      Keywords: permaculture gamification, collaboration competency, ecosystem.

Abstract

This study was aimed to show whether conservation effort through reduced tillage or mulching can promote soil zoological benefits, especially to the soil arthropods in sugarcane plantations area, Central Lampung, Indonesia. Twenty sugarcane plots of 25 m × 25 m size each were prepared in the area and treated with two combined treatments i.e. tillage (no tillage and full tillage) and mulching (without bagasse and with bagasse mulch). Tillage and planting were done in July 2010 while mulching was conducted in August 2010. The arthropods were sampled using pitfall traps (mouth diameter = 13.5 cm), each was set per plot for 24 hours. Specimens were identified at least to order level. Sampling was done in September 2010 (1 month after mulch treatment, MAT), January 2011 (4 MAT), and July 2011 (10 MAT). We found four major arthropod orders, namely Araneae (spiders, predator), Coleoptera (beetles, mostly non predator), Collembola (springtails, fungal feeder), and Hymenoptera (ants, mostly forager). The last two groups were the most dominant (contributing to > 90 % of the total abundance). Tillage affected the abundance of overall soil arthropods at 1 MAT and 4 MAT but the effect disappeared at 10 MAT. Reduced tillage can conserve, or does not harm, some soil arthropod groups (ants, predatory ants, beetles, springtails, spiders) in sugarcane agroecosystem.
