Abstract

Setelah penyuluhan, 60 peserta menjalani skrining kanker serviks. Mayoritas (41,7%) berusia 31-40 tahun.

Abstract

Tumor and its microenvironment can interact each other. Macrophage is part of tumor microenvironment. New drugs targeting specific superficial receptor of macrophage or cytokine of macrophage polarization have been found. Therefore, macrophage phenotype and its ratio of M1/M2 macrophage need to be identified. This identification could lead us to prognose breast cancer and monitor its therapy. Analytical observational study with cross sectional approach, conducted on paraffin block sample of breast carcinoma from Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital. The samples divided into four groups based on nodal metastasis staging (N0, N1, N2, and N3) and stained with antibody against CD68 and CD163. The ratio of CD68 and CD163 were analyzed with Anova test. There were difference expression of CD68 as M1 macrophage marker in various axillary node metastasis groups (p=0.015). There were difference ratio of CD68 as M1 macrophage marker and CD163 as M2 macrophage marker in various axillary node metastasis groups (p=0.005). There were difference ratio of macrophage M1 and macrophage M2 between N0 and N3 group, N2 and N3 group also.

Abstract

Highlight: • Profile of skin biopsy results which carried out the anatomical pathology examination was reviewed. • The highest skin biopsy disease group case are erythropapulosquamous, infection, skin tumor, vesiculobullous, connective tissue disease, pigmentation disorders, and vasculitis Abstract: Skin biopsy is an important tool used by dermatologists in diagnostic determination. The correlation between clinical and histological features is needed in understanding pathogenesis and formulating the diagnosis of a skin disease with a greatly varied spectrum of histopathological results, while the observable clinical symptoms are highly limited. Skin diseases are still a serious problem worldwide, especially in Indonesia. Based on the Indonesian Health Profile in 2010, skin diseases ranked third out of 10 most diseases in outpatients in hospitals throughout Indonesia. This study was a review of the profile of skin biopsy results in Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia from 1 July 2014 to 31 July 2019, which were subjected to anatomic pathology examination. This study was an observational descriptive study using secondary data sources from the medical records at the Communication and Information Technology Installation (ICT) of Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya. Based on data searches, the total number of biopsy examinations performed was 1,368 cases. There were more female patients (50.3%) than males (49.7%). The most common skin disorder found was erythropapulosquamous disorder (30%), followed by infection (18%). Other cases consisted of skin tumor (15%), vesiculobullous (13%), connective tissue disease (7%), pigmentation disorders (5%), and vasculitis (5%). Diseases that could not be classified into 7 groups of the biopsy criteria were grouped separately in other diseases (7%).

Abstract

Residual Cancer Burden (RCB) is a validated scoring system that quantifies the amount of tumour remaining after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for breast cancer, providing prognostic information beyond binary outcomes, such as pathologic complete response (pCR). pCR represents a binary endpoint within various NAC response-grading systems, including RCB, rather than a separate reporting system. This study aimed to assess clinicopathological and molecular predictors of RCB class, including histological grade, histopathological type, molecular subtype, and Ki-67 index. A retrospective study was conducted on 68 patients diagnosed with breast carcinoma who underwent NAC. Descriptive statistics and Pearson, Spearman, and chi-square tests were used to evaluate associations between these variables and RCB class. The mean Ki-67 index was 49.9% (standard deviation not specified), and most tumours were grade 2 (48.5%), invasive carcinoma of no special type (79.4%), and luminal B subtype (63.2%). The distribution of RCB classes was RCB III (42.6%), RCB II (35.3%), RCB 0 (13.2%), and RCB I (8.8%). Statistical analysis did not reveal significant associations between histological grade, histopathological type, molecular subtype, or Ki-67 and RCB class (all p > 0.05). No statistically significant associations were identified; however, the study may be insufficiently powered to detect smaller but clinically meaningful relationships. These findings point to the need for larger, multicentre studies with standardised biomarker assessment to improve post-treatment prognostication.

Abstract

Highlights: 1. The increased incidence of placenta accreta is contributed significantly by parity classification, a history of cesarean section, body mass index, and interbirth interval. 2. The findings of this study can be used as an additional reference in determining the risk of placenta accreta in pregnant women, specifically as an input in screening and antenatal care programs for pregnant women to provide early detection and appropriate management. Abstract The incidence of placenta accreta during pregnancy constitutes a serious problem in reproductive health. This complication has increased significantly over the last few decades, especially in developed countries where cesarean deliveries have also risen. Placenta accreta spectrum can cause very severe bleeding and potentially lead to other serious complications. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk factors associated with the incidence of placenta accreta in women giving birth at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia. This quantitative study used an analytical observational research design, specifically the case-control approach. The study sample was all mothers who gave birth at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia, between 2019 and 2023. In addition to a univariate analysis, the data were subjected to bivariate analysis using a two-sample independent t-test or Mann-Whitney test for ordinal data and for nominal data using the Chi-square test as well as multivariate analysis using logistic regression (p<0.05). The results showed that parity, a history of cesarean section, body mass index, and interbirth interval were the variables identified as significantly associated with placenta accreta. According to the logistic regression analysis, parity, a history of cesarean section, and a history of curettage were identified as the primary determinants of placenta accreta incidence. The classification of parity was found to have the most significant relationship to the incidence of placenta accreta. This study concluded that parity classification, a history of cesarean section, body mass index, and interbirth interval are the significant risk factors contributing to the increased incidence of placenta accreta at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia.

Abstract

Highlights : • Cabbage extract application accelerates wound healing and has anti-inflammatory effect. • Cabbage extract serves as an affordable source material for wound healing and anti-inflammation. Abstract Cabbage is a widely consumed vegetable known for its health benefits due to its rich nutrients and phytochemicals, especially phenolic compounds, which are known to have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study aimed to investigate the effects of cabbage extract on wound healing by observing inflammatory responses in wound tissue. A total of 24 male rats were divided into four groups, with six rats in each group. The experiment was conducted for five days by administering cabbage extract to the treatment group and distilled water to the control group. Skin wound tissues were collected from all rats for histological observation by counting the number of macrophages and blood vessels. The results of the observation were analyzed statistically using an independent sample t-test with p<0.05. The results showed that the number of macrophages and blood vessels in the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group on the third day and significantly lower on the fifth day. In conclusion, the administration of cabbage extract can accelerate the inflammatory and proliferative phases of wound healing by promoting the migration of cells, including macrophages, resulting in accelerated angiogenesis. In addition, the decreased number of macrophages and blood vessels during the proliferative phase showed that the healing phase had reached a more advanced stage.
