Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Toulmin argument pattern in teaching argumentative writing to eleventh-grade students at SMK Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi. This research employed a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The sources of data included one Indonesian language teacher and 27 students of class XI in the Light Vehicle Engineering program. The data were analyzed descriptively through the stages of data organization, reduction, categorization, interpretation, and narrative presentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Toulmin argument pattern had a positive impact on students’ ability to write argumentative texts. The learning process became more structured and systematic as students were guided to construct the elements of argument, namely claim, data, warrant, backing, qualifier, and rebuttal. Based on the analysis of students’ argumentative texts, 80% of the students were categorized as very good and 20% as good. These findings indicate that the Toulmin argument pattern is effective in improving the structure of arguments as well as students’ logical and critical thinking skills in argumentative writing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penggunaan eufemisme sebagai strategi wacana politik dalam pemberitaan Portal Jambi Ekspres online tahun 2025 dengan menggunakan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis model Eriyanto (2001). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian berupa satuan kebahasaan yang mengandung eufemisme dalam 15 berita politik periode Juli–September 2025. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan lima jenis eufemisme, yaitu deskriptif, metaforis, litotes, teknis, dan idiomatis, masing-maasing berjumlah tiga data 20%. Pada tingkat teks eufemisme berfungsi menghaluskan dan membingkai peristiwa politik melalui pilihan leksikal yang netral dan simbolik. Pada tingkat praktik wacana, penggunaan eufemisme menunjukkan pertimbangan redaksional dalam membangun representasi politik. Pada tingkat praktik sosial, eufemisme merefleksikan relasi kekuasaan dan dinamika ideologis dalam ruang politik lokal. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa bahasa media bukan sekadar penyampai informasi, melainkan sarana konstruksi realitas sosial politik.

Abstract

Writing is a complex language skill because it requires mastery of structure, idea development, and accurate linguistic rules. In the context of the Independent Curriculum, the ability to write popular scientific articles is crucial for strengthening the literacy of junior high school (SMP/MTs) students. However, classroom learning practices still show low structural regularity and idea development due to minimal gradual guidance. This study aims to describe the implementation of the scaffolding approach in teaching popular scientific articles to eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Bungo and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This study used a qualitative research type with an instrumental case study design. Data were obtained through learning observations, document analysis of 32 student articles, and interviews with teachers and students. Then, they were analyzed descriptively through stages of reduction, categorization, and thematic interpretation with triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that scaffolding was implemented gradually through providing intensive assistance in the initial stage, simplifying tasks, providing examples and feedback, and reducing assistance (fading). Most students were able to structure texts in a more organized manner, develop ideas logically, and show improvements in linguistic aspects and writing independence. It was concluded that the scaffolding approach effectively improves the quality of the writing process and products while encouraging students' learning independence, and is relevant to the learning principles in the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis cerpen siswa Fase D SMP Nurul Khoir Jambi, khususnya dalam menemukan ide, menyusun alur, dan mengembangkan tokoh. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis cerpen siswa melalui penggunaan media audio-visual. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus, melibatkan 27 siswa dan guru Bahasa Indonesia sebagai informan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis cerpen siswa berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan nilai rata-rata 87. Siswa mampu mengembangkan unsur cerpen dengan baik setelah menggunakan media audio-visual. Dengan demikian, media audio-visual terbukti meningkatkan pemahaman dan kreativitas siswa dalam menulis cerpen. Kata Kunci: Kemampuan menulis cerpen, Media audio-visual, Siswa Fase D SMP

Abstract

Poetry learning is often considered difficult and less interesting, so their interest in learning this material tends to be low. To overcome this, innovation is needed in the learning process that can increase student interest and involvement. One of the interactive learning media that can be utilized is Wordwall. This study aims to determine the effect of using Wordwall media on students' interest in learning poetry in class VIII of SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and one group design. Data collection instruments are in the form of questionnaires and observation sheets that have been tested for validity and reliability. Determination of the sample in this study used purposive sampling and the sample was class VIII G students consisting of 25 students. The results of the study showed that the normality of the data was > 0.05 which means that the data is normally distributed, the homogeneity results showed a Sig value of 0.314 > 0.05 which means that the data has a homogeneous variance. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the t-test, the results of the t-test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 and a calculated t value of 9.259> t table 1.714 so that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that Wordwall media has an effect on increasing students' interest in learning poetry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and explain how to correct language errors in the online news media MetroJambi.com, the events section published in August 2025. Errors in language use can lead to ambiguity and misinterpretation in conveying information to the public. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with documentation and note-taking techniques. Words, phrases, and sentences from the news media MetroJambi.com, the events section published in August 2025, constitute the data in this study. The data for these words, phrases, and sentences were obtained from regional news articles in the MetroJambi.com events section published in August 2025. The results of the study indicate language errors at four levels: spelling, morphology, syntax, and semantics. There were 130 errors in spelling, 109 errors in morphology, 133 errors in syntax, and 129 errors in semantics.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of the CIPRO Model in learning to write speech texts among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 28 Muaro Jambi. The research focused on understanding how the model supports students’ writing skills, critical thinking, and participation in the learning process. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a field study design to explore the learning process in its natural context. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving one Indonesian language teacher and six representative students selected purposively based on different academic ability levels. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing through triangulation and member checking techniques. The findings revealed that the implementation of the CIPRO Model encouraged students to participate more actively in learning activities, improved their ability to organize ideas systematically, and strengthened their argumentative writing skills. The stages of identifying problems, gathering information, formulating arguments, collaboration, and presenting results enabled students to develop more structured and persuasive speech texts. In addition, collaborative discussions and reflective learning activities increased students’ confidence and critical thinking abilities during the writing process. However, the study also identified several challenges, particularly limited instructional time and differences in students’ academic abilities during the implementation process. This study contributes to the development of process-based and participatory learning models in Indonesian language education, particularly in speech-text writing instruction at the junior high school level. The findings imply that the CIPRO Model can be used as an alternative instructional strategy to create more interactive, contextual, and student-centered learning environments. Future studies are recommended to examine the effectiveness of the model in broader educational contexts and through mixed-method approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using storytelling media on the writing skills of descriptive text of junior high school students of SMP Negeri 19 Muaro Jambi. This research is a type of experimental research with a quasi experimentall design or a semi-experiment that uses a pretest-posttest control group design. The data obtained through the pretest and posttest scores of both groups, then the data were analyzed quantitatively with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that the use of digital storytelling media had an influence on students' description text writing skills. The use of storytelling media can stimulate the imagination and creativity of writers by opening the door to new ideas and imaginative experiences in writing description texts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability to write persuasion using image media in class VIII students of SMPN 14 Jambi City using a quantitative descriptive approach. The number of subjects in this study was 31, namely class VIII A. The data research instrument in this study was a performance test for writing persuasive text. Assessment in writing persuasive text is based on the structure and linguistic rules, namely the existence of a series of arguments, facts, invitations, and the use of argumentative conjunctions. Furthermore, students write persuasive texts using image media. Data analysis in this study is the work of students who are examined by two assessors, namely teachers and researchers. The results of this study show that the ability to write persuasive texts using image media of class VIII A students in the aspect of writing a series of arguments gets an average score of 77, the ability to write facts gets an average score of 73.5, writing invitations gets an average score of 74.8, and the ability to use linguistic rules gets an average score of 75.4.

Abstract

Kemampuan menulis sesuai kaidah bahasa Indonesia merupakan kompetensi dasar yang penting bagi siswa menengah pertama. Namun, dalam praktiknya, sering kali ditemukan ketidaksesuaian antara hasil tulisan siswa dengan Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI) atau EYDPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk kesalahan ejaan dalam menulis teks prosedur siswa kelas VII SMPN 26 Tanjung Jabung Timur. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 28 siswa. Data penelitian berupa hasil kerja siswa menulis teks prosedur yang ditinjau dari aspek yaitu, pemakaian kata, penulisan kata, dan penggunaan tanda baca. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, dokumentasi, dan teknik catat. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 73 data kesalahan dengan total 145 bentuk kesalahan ejaan. Kesalahan tersebut terdiri atas kesalahan pemakaian huruf sebanyak 132 bentuk, kesalahan penulisan kata sebanyak 4 bentuk, dan kesalahan penggunaan tanda baca sebanyak 9 bentuk. Kesalahan yang paling dominan adalah kesalahan pemakaian huruf, terutama penggunaan huruf kapital pada awal kalimat. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menerapkan kaidah ejaan bahasa Indonesia secara tepat. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembelajaran yang lebih intensif dan latihan menulis secara berkelanjutan agar kemampuan menulis siswa sesuai dengan kaidah bahasa Indonesia dapat meningkat.
