Abstract

Web-based lecture attendance applications that use Multi-Page Application (MPA) architecture often face speed and responsiveness issues when the number of users increases. This study aims to optimize the attendance application at Universitas Dinamika Bangsa (UNAMA) by implementing Single Page Application (SPA) architecture to improve system access speed and responsiveness. Using the waterfall development method, the results of this study show that SPA implementation is significantly more efficient than Multi-page Application (MPA) architecture in several aspects, including the number of Requests (RC), Transferred File Size (TF), Resources (RS), and Request Duration (RD). For example, the “Home” page on MPA requires 51 requests with a total transfer of 741 kB and a duration of 945 ms, while on SPA it only requires 1 request with a transfer of 5.9 kB and a duration of 187 ms. This proves that the SPA architecture successfully reduces network load and speeds up response time, resulting in a more responsive user experience and efficient use of resources.

Abstract

Diphenhydramine HCl is an antihistamine drug that is available in conventional tablet form. This study aimed to produce the optimum formula for a diphenhydramine fast disintegrating tablet (FDT) using a modification of starch, crospovidone, and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) to produce quality tablets that meet the tablet's physical requirements and tablet dissolution. Starch modification was made using a two-step method of starch cross-link, then continued with silica coprecipitation. FDT was prepared by the direct compression method. Optimisation with the simplex lattice design (SLD) model uses three components: co-process starch crosslink-silica, crospovidone, and MCC, which obtained 14 formula designs. The hardness, wetting time, disintegration time, and percent dissolution are optimisation parameters. Equations, contour plots, and desirability values were determined as the optimum formula. Based on the research results, an optimum formula was obtained with the proportion of co-process cross-link starch-silica was 56.185 mg, crospovidone at 6 mg, and MCC at 45.815 mg. The result of hardness was 5 kg, wetting time 51.061 seconds, disintegration time 63.129 seconds, and dissolution was 100.972%. The interaction of the three components reduces hardness and increases disintegration time, wetting time, and percent dissolution.

Abstract

Class imbalance remains a critical challenge in fake news detection, particularly in domains such as entertainment media where class distributions are highly skewed. This study evaluates seven resampling techniques—Random Oversampling, SMOTE, ADASYN, Random Undersampling, Tomek Links, NearMiss, and No Resampling—applied to three classical machine learning models: Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest. Using the imbalanced GossipCop dataset comprising 24,102 news headlines, the proposed pipeline integrates TF-IDF vectorization, stratified 3-fold cross-validation, and five evaluation metrics: F1-score, precision, recall, ROC AUC, and PR AUC. Experimental results show that oversampling methods, particularly SMOTE and Random Oversampling, substantially improve minority class (fake news) detection. Among all model–resampling combinations, SVM with SMOTE achieved the highest performance (F1-score = 0.67, PR AUC = 0.74), demonstrating its robustness in handling imbalanced short-text classification. Conversely, undersampling methods frequently reduced recall, especially with ensemble models like Random Forest. This approach enhances model robustness in fake news detection on skewed datasets and contributes a reproducible, domain-specific framework for developing more reliable misinformation classifiers.

Abstract

Purpose: Palm oil plantation monitoring using UAV imagery presents significant challenges in multi-object segmentation due to homogeneous texture, low resolution, and difficulty in distinguishing disease symptoms. Traditional segmentation methods struggle to accurately separate overlapping and visually similar objects, reducing the effectiveness of automated analysis. This study aims to address these issues by proposing an optimized Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) incorporating Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE-Block) and Attention Mechanisms to enhance segmentation accuracy for multi-object, non-overlapping palm oil images. Methods: The proposed model utilizes ResNet50 as a backbone, integrating SE-Block to enhance the feature representation of important regions while suppressing less relevant features. Additionally, Attention Mechanisms are incorporated to improve the model's spatial understanding and feature discrimination, which is crucial for segmenting visually similar objects in UAV imagery. A dataset of UAV-captured palm oil images was used to train and evaluate the model, applying deep learning techniques for feature extraction and classification. Result: Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an average Intersection over Union (IoU) of 0.7928, accuracy of 0.9424, precision of 0.9126, recall of 0.8622, F1-score of 0.8693, and mAP of 0.7673. The highest-performing model attained a maximum IoU of 0.8499 and an accuracy of 0.9490, significantly outperforming conventional FCN models. These findings confirm that incorporating SE-Block and Attention Mechanisms enhances segmentation accuracy, making the model more robust in handling UAV imagery complexities. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the integration of SE-Block and Attention Mechanisms within FCN for palm oil segmentation, specifically targeting multi-object, non-overlapping segmentation in challenging UAV imagery conditions. By improving feature extraction and spatial attention, this approach advances deep learning-based agricultural monitoring and can be extended to other remote sensing applications requiring high-precision segmentation.

Abstract

This research aims to create and evaluate the crosslink coprocess of Kepok banana starch with silica dioxide as an additional material for making tablets using the direct compression method. Coprocessing is carried out using the coprecipitation method of silica on the surface of starch that has been crosslinked with sodium tripolyphosphate. Coprocesses were evaluated based on solubility characteristics, swelling power, angle of repose, Hausner ratio, compressibility index, FTIR, and SEM microscopy. The starch-silica coprocess showed better flow properties and compressibility compared to other frequently used super disintegrants. FTIR showed that there was no chemical reaction between the two starch and silica materials during the coprecipitation process. Coprocess crosslink kepok banana starch can be used as an excipient for making tablets using the direct compression method because it has better flow properties and a compressibility index. Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in Indonesia's villages by using appropriate technology through online training. In this series of activities, villages with adequate internet infrastructure and a low rate of technology adoption are identified. The training was conducted online using the Zoom application and attended by farmers from various regions. The results of the pre-test show that the majority of farmers have limited knowledge about agricultural technology. After participating in the training, the final assessment (post-test) showed a significant improvement in farmers' knowledge and skills, with an average increase in knowledge scores of 60% and skills of 55%. High participation and positive feedback from participants indicate the effectiveness of online training as a method to increase farmers' capacity. However, challenges such as limited access to equipment and cost remain obstacles to implementing appropriate technology in the field. In conclusion, online training has improved farmers' knowledge and skills. Still, additional support is needed to ensure the sustainability of the application of technology in the field. These findings make an important contribution to the development of farmer capacity-building programs in Indonesia, especially in the context of the adoption of modern agricultural technology.

Abstract

This research investigates the factors motivating women to work in the traditionally male-dominated mining industry, focusing on heavy equipment operators at a coal mine in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Employing an ethnographic approach with a phenomenological study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three informants with varying lengths of work experience to identify shared values. The findings reveal three primary factors underpinning women's decisions to pursue mining careers: strong work ethic, economic motivations, and an orientation towards self-development and securing their children's future. These findings demonstrate women's agency in career decision-making and their ability to transcend gender stereotypes. This study recommends that mining companies foster inclusive work environments that support women in balancing their multiple roles.
