Abstract

In efforts to improve public health, it is necessary to implement clean and healthy living behaviours in the community to achieve a better standard of living. One strategy that can be used to earn a degree in public health is to provide education on public awareness of the importance of implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle. Community service activities aim to evaluate the impact of counselling on the level of knowledge and attitudes of the community related to clean and healthy living. The method involves organising counselling sessions in several communities through active community participation. We used pre-counseling and post-extension surveys to measure changes in knowledge levels and attitudes. Results showed a significant increase in people's knowledge levels after counselling. Interactive counselling sessions and clear information delivery successfully provided a better understanding of clean and healthy living principles. It concluded with the active participation of the community, the involvement of community leaders, and the use of relevant supporting materials. These findings have positive implications for developing health education programmes at the community level. Increased knowledge and attitudes are expected to change people's behaviour towards a healthier lifestyle.

Abstract

The skills of a good nurse manager, the quality and quantity of human resources, and the development of human resources to face changes both the internal and external environments begin with building nurses' commitment to various indicators of human resources development in hospitals that have an impact on customer or patient satisfaction. Quantitative research with an analytical observational approach was conducted in hospitals, with a sample of 136 nurses from the population obtained by probability sampling. The results of the statistical test that training is the human resources development factor that most affect the job satisfaction of nurses in hospitals with an Exp (B) ratio or odds of 1.790, indicating that nurses with more specialized training tend to be 1.790 times more satisfied than nurses with less specialized training, and that this is also true since their Exp B grades are good. This study concludes that training has a big impact on how happy nurses are. As healthcare providers in hospitals, nurses need to optimize their abilities and competencies to raise the standard of nursing care. Nursing directors are essential in building and recruiting, and measuring nurse competencies.

Abstract

Good nutrition in toddlers is an important factor in supporting children's optimal growth and development. However, there are still many people who have a lack of understanding of good nutritional parenting, which can have an impact on the risk of stunting and other nutritional problems. The Community Service Program (PkM) aims to increase public knowledge about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy diets for children, especially mothers under five. The methods used in this program include education through counseling, demonstrations of making healthy menus, and interactive discussion sessions. This program was attended by 50 mothers under five in the Posyandu assisted area. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of nutrition for toddlers, which was demonstrated by an increase in pre-test and post-test scores. In addition, there has been a change in the practice of feeding toddlers, with more mothers adopting a healthy diet after attending education. In conclusion, community-based nutrition education effectively increases the understanding and practice of balanced nutrition for toddlers, which is expected to contribute to reducing stunting and malnutrition rates

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder requiring continuous medical care and patient self-management to prevent complications. Perception of disease and the duration of suffering may influence how patients manage their condition through self-care behaviors. Understanding this relationship is crucial for developing targeted interventions to improve patient outcomes. This study examines the relationship between disease perception and duration of illness with self-care management in patients with diabetes mellitus. Research Methodology: This quantitative analytical study employed a cross-sectional design involving 150 patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus at a public health center. Data were collected using validated questionnaires assessing disease perception and self-care management, along with patient medical records to determine the duration of the disease. Statistical analysis was performed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression tests to examine the relationship between disease perception, duration of suffering, and self-care management. Result: The study found a significant positive correlation between disease perception and self-care management (r = 0.62, p < 0.01). Additionally, patients with a longer duration of suffering demonstrated better self-care practices (r = 0.45, p < 0.05). Multiple regression analysis revealed that disease perception was a stronger predictor of self-care management than duration of illness (β = 0.58, p < 0.01). Conclusion: A higher perception of the seriousness and controllability of diabetes mellitus positively influences patients' self-care management. Duration of illness also contributes, though to a lesser extent. Health practitioners should enhance patients’ understanding and perception of their disease to improve self-care outcomes.

Abstract

Nursing services in home healthcare are becoming increasingly important as the number of patients requiring long-term care and post-inpatient care increases. The standard of nursing care delivered at home is crucial for the well-being of both patients and their families. This study investigates how health professionals perceive the creation of quality nursing services in home healthcare. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method. Ten health professionals, including nurses, doctors, and home health care managers, were selected as participants through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis methods to identify relevant themes and subthemes. Results: The results show that the quality of nursing services at home is created through several key factors: competency and training of nurses, effective communication between health teams, involvement of families in care, availability of resources, and clear management and policy support. Nurse competence and training are considered the most crucial factors affecting service quality. In addition, good communication between healthcare professionals and patients' families is also regarded as essential to creating a holistic and patient-centered service. Conclusions: The quality of nursing services in home health care depends on various factors, including nurse competency, effective communication, and family involvement. Managerial support and supportive policies are also essential to ensure that nurses can deliver optimal care. This research provides valuable insight for developing training programs and policies to enhance the quality of home nursing services.

Abstract

Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder requiring continuous self-care to prevent complications. Health education plays a crucial role in enhancing patients’ understanding, attitudes, and skills for effective self-management. This study aimed to investigate the impact of health education on self-care behaviors among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest–posttest design with a control group. The study involved 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) selected using purposive sampling from a public health center. The intervention group received structured health education sessions covering diet management, physical activity, medication adherence, and blood glucose monitoring for a period of four weeks, while the control group received standard care. Data were collected using the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) questionnaire. Statistical analysis was conducted using paired and independent t-tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The findings showed a significant increase in self-care behavior scores in the intervention group after receiving health education (p < 0.001), while no significant change was observed in the control group (p > 0.05). The mean difference between the two groups indicated that health education had a positive effect on self-care behavior among patients with T2DM. Conclusion: Health education has a significant impact on improving self-care behaviors among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Structured and continuous education increases patients’ awareness, adherence, and ability to manage diet, exercise, medication, and blood glucose monitoring effectively. Healthcare providers should integrate regular health education programs into diabetes management to enhance patients’ self-care skills and prevent complications. Further research with larger samples and longer follow-up is recommended to evaluate the long-term impact of such interventions.
