Abstract

This community service program aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Business Identification Number (NIB) registration through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system as a form of business legality for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Alun-Alun Contong Village, Surabaya City. The main problems faced by MSME partners are low digital and legal literacy, as well as limited access to technological devices, so that many business actors do not yet have a NIB. The activity was carried out using a community-based participatory approach that includes the stages of initial identification, education and socialization, and direct technical assistance in the NIB registration process through OSS. The results showed that out of 18 MSME partners who were assisted, 14 partners successfully completed the NIB registration process through this assistance (77.78%). This success shows the effectiveness of a direct and communicative approach in overcoming digital and procedural barriers that have been obstacles. In addition to administrative achievements, this activity also has an impact on increasing digital literacy, business actors' self-confidence, and active involvement in the legalization process. The main conclusion of this activity is that community-based mentoring contributes to strengthening the sustainable formal MSME ecosystem. Suggestions for further development are the provision of visual-based educational media and digital communities so that MSMEs are able to carry out legalization independently.

Abstract

This research seeks to investigate the role of social capital in the empowerment of urban agriculture within the Srikandi Women’s Farmers Group (KWT). Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study is conducted at KWT Srikandi located in Mrican, Sleman. The findings reveal that the effective utilization of social capital significantly contributes to the success of the empowerment initiatives within KWT Srikandi. Key values that underpin this process include mutual cooperation, discipline, and responsibility, all of which are reinforced by the awareness and commitment of individual members. Trust is evidenced by the successful delegation of tasks, transparency in program execution, and the solidarity fostered within the group. Social networks are robustly established both internally, among KWT Mrican members, and externally, through collaborations with various partners, including academic institutions, government entities, and the private sector. The advantages of leveraging social capital include the promotion of harmony, enhancement of capacity, and facilitation of successful empowerment outcomes. However, challenges persist, such as limited expansion of partnership outreach and the necessity for improvements in facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

In many non-formal early childhood education (ECE) contexts in Indonesia, especially in rural and community-based institutions, professional competency development remains an underexplored issue despite the prevalence of unqualified teaching staff. This study explores how non-formal early childhood educators without formal educational qualifications develop their professional competencies within the institutional setting of SPS Miftahul Jannah, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study, data were collected through interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically using Braun and Clarke’s framework. Five core themes emerged: initial professional insecurity as a catalyst for growth, skill transformation through structured training, professional community building via MGMP forums, contextual pedagogical innovations, and the role of mentorship in providing emotional and instructional support. These findings reveal that, despite lacking formal credentials, the educators demonstrated reflective, adaptive, and collaborative professionalism—enabled by sustained institutional support, peer learning, and intrinsic motivation. The study underscores the need to reframe early childhood professionalism to recognize practice-based knowledge and community-embedded expertise. It challenges prevailing assumptions that equate qualification solely with academic degrees and highlights how informal, experiential learning can foster legitimate professional growth. Although this research is limited by its single-site focus and reliance on self-reported data, it offers critical insight into non-traditional pathways of teacher development in under-resourced settings. The findings contribute to the broader discourse on equitable teacher development and call for hybrid certification models that integrate formal education with field-based experiences, thereby institutionalizing inclusive and practice-responsive approaches to professionalization in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study of international non-governmental actors (INGO) and peacebuilding has sparked a lively discussion because INGOs play a significant role in the peace process. On the other hand, INGOs with their own values frequently fight with one another or with the values of the local community. This study tries to comprehend the peacebuilding strategies of The Catholic Relief Service (CRS) and Muhammadiyah in conflict zones, particularly Timor-Leste and Mindanao. This study employs a qualitative approach with document analysis. The findings of this study indicate that CRS and Muhammadiyah play a significant role in promoting peace through the following efforts: (1) reducing human suffering by seeking the safety of conflict victims; (2) promoting peace through a democratic, non-violent, and participatory process by focusing on the safety of women and other vulnerable people; and (3) post-conflict reconstruction by restoring the lives of people affected by conflict in various aspects.

Abstract

Basic motor skills are essential for the physical, cognitive, and social development of elementary school children, especially in the early grades (grades 1–3). However, these skills often do not receive sufficient attention in education. This community service initiative aims to improve students' basic motor skills through engaging educational games, while also improving teacher competence and encouraging parental participation. The program was implemented at Ngeronggo 2 Kediri city elementary school, involving 45 students, 8 teachers, and 45 parents. The methods used included training for teachers and parents, play activities for children, and assessment through observation, student reflection, and surveys. The results showed that 87% of students reported enjoying participating in the activities, while 89% were actively involved in all movement activities. Teachers' average knowledge scores increased from 63.75 to 87.5 after the training. Additionally, 89% of parents reported benefits from the Daily Movement Calendar, while 82% said their children were interested in playing the games again at home. These findings indicate that instructional games effectively improve children's basic motor skills and receive positive support from educators and families. This approach is relevant for implementation in other elementary schools to foster a culture of active and healthy movement from an early age.
