Abstract

Economic diversity has often been promoted as a means to achieve the economic goal of stability. Many empirical studies have also concluded that greater diversification in economic can reduce vulnerability and engendering financial development. The objective of this paper is to analyze the degree of economic diversification at village level. This research was conducted at twenty villages located around Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS) and determined purposively and surveyed. Twenty households from each selected village were selected using systematic random sampling method, so the total respondents were 400 households. Economic diversity at the village level was estimated using EDI suggested by Dewi, et al (2005).Research found that EDI value for each village studied varies from 0.20 to 1.00 with no village reaches 1.099, which is an ideal condition. The lowest EDI, i.e. 0.20, occurs in the village of Karang Dapo Atas and Karang Dapo Bawah, subdistrict of Bingin Kuning and the village of Ujung Tanjung II Subdistrict Embong Uram Karang. This value indicates that households in the village surveyed simply rely on one type of work, especially in the agricultural sector. This also means that not many households get into other employment sectors such as mining and or services/stalls/stores. By simply relying on agriculture as its main source of income, households tend to be vulnerable if there is a change in the agricultural sector, especially in sectors such as coffee and rubber plantations.

Abstract

This study is aimed at examining enterprises model and analysing risk level of Palm Sugar in Rejang Lebong Regency. Risk Analysis involve nira harvested, nira processed, palm sugar production, and palm sugar prices received by producers. Twostages cluster sampling method is used to determine research areas, i.e, subdistrict of Sindang Kelingi and Selupu Rejang based on the numbers of firms. Using similar critirea, two villages are selected, i.e, Air Meles Atas and Sindang Jati. From those villages, then, 86 palm sugar producers are selected using Simple Random Sampling. Descriptive analysis is applied to describe entreprises model of palm sugar industries while risks is analysed using its varians, standard deviation, and minimum level of production as proposed by Maryam and Suprapti (2008). The research shows that all palm sugar industries in this regency can be categories as home industries with average production scale of 11.58 kg per process in rainy season and 11. 54 kg in dry season. Palm sugar producers use their own capital to produce palm sugar and borrowed to palm sugar village merchants when they need. From risk analysis, the study finds that palm sugar producers will face higher risk in term of nira harvested and processed, and production in dry season, except in term of price received which is higher in rainy season. Over all, palm sugar producers will not face risk significantly both in dry and rainy season.

Abstract

Analysis of patterns of food consumption of carbohydrate-based society in the city of Bengkulu aims to determine the pattern of food consumption, identify factors - factors that affect carbohydrate-based food consumption in the city of Bengkulu and to determine the elasticity of consumption of rice and tubers at their own price, cross and income. This study uses analysis of almost ideal demand system (AIDS) and the elasticity of demand. The sample used in this study is the survey data SUSENAS (Socio-Economic Survey) In 2012 as many as 292 households. The results of this study were (1) Patterns of food consumption of carbohydrates in the city of Bengkulu showed that total rice consumption expenditures greater than the bulbs, which is USD 61.021,71 / week and tuber 26.617,43 USD / week. Factors affecting food consumption patterns of carbohydrate in Bengkulu city is the economic factor. The economic factor is the price of food consumed requirement itself. Price elasticity is performed on the combined restriction on both rice and tubers food sources are unitary inelastic, inelastic cross elasticity and income elasticity is unitary elastic.

Abstract

The aim of the research was (1) to analyze the risk of production (2) to analyze farmer’s income, and (3) to analyze the risk of income. The research was conducted from June to July in 2014. Research area was chosen purposively in Urban Village Labuhan Deli , Sub District Medan Marelan, Medan City. The number of samples were 57 samples drawn by a simple random sampling. Data was analyzed using analisys of income and analisys of risk. The research result showed that shrimp cultivation earned Rp 19.571.547/Ha/Year. Meanwhile, based on the value of the coefficient variation’s production that was 0.04 and the lower earnings was 142,60 Kg, it show that there was a little of risk faced by farmers. Then, based on the value of the coefficient variation’s income that was 0.017, it showed that there was a little of risk faced by farmers and the lower earnings limit of shrimp cultuvation was Rp 6.304.872,84/Ha/Year. This showed the lowest income that may be accepted by the farmers.

Abstract

The aims of this research are  to analyze the market price of fish commodity and to forecast behaviour of fish price. Fish types that are analysed in this research are tongkol. The data consist of weekly data of tongkol in the four main market in Bengkulu  for the period of 2002 to 2004 are used. The analysis of weekly prices used table analysis and linear regression model involving seasonal fishing dummies. Long run dynamic price equilibrium is analysed using linear regression model based on Cobweb model are estimated using OLS method while  autocorrelation problems is overcome by Cochrane-Orcutt. From the trend analysis price tongkol fish result, it is concluded that the slope in Argamakmur and Curup was positive. Meanwhile, for tenggiri fish there was Bengkulu, Manna and Argamakmur that having a positive slope. Based on price behaviour estimation, it can be concluded that lagged price of tongkol is a signifikan factor in determining the fish price in all markets respectively. Moreover, marketing system analysed result that the price in Bengkulu market as a producer market has a signifikan influance to the price of fish in consumen market.
