Baturiti Village, located in the Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency, is known as the cultural tourism destination "Kokokan" and a center for agriculture. The village has an administrative structure consisting of six Banjar Dinas (community organizations) and two Desa Adat (customary villages). The development of tourism in this village, marked by the presence of the Pokdarwis Baturiti Berseri tourism awareness group, demands an improvement in the skills and professionalism of the community in tourism marketing, destination management, and entrepreneurship. Training in these areas is planned as an effort to enhance services to tourists. The training concept includes marketing aspects and the marketing process, as well as various definitions from experts. Furthermore, the marketing concept aimed at meeting the needs and desires of the target market serves as the foundation for carrying out marketing activities. There are six basic marketing concepts underlying the implementation of marketing activities, such as production concept, product concept, selling concept, marketing concept, social marketing concept, and global marketing concept. The marketing process is explained through steps such as understanding the market, designing customer-oriented marketing strategies, preparing integrated marketing plans and programs, building relationships with customers, and deriving value from customers. Training and the application of these marketing concepts are expected to enhance the performance of tourism and the economy in Baturiti Village.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the understanding and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Tri Hita Karana (THK) in fulfilling corporate social responsibility at 5 star hotels in Badung Regency, Bali, namely Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort, Jumana Bali Ungasan Resort, and also Hilton Bali Resorts. The research method uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews, observation and documentation from Human Resources who are tasked with planning and implementing CSR programs in the company. The results of the research show that, for the SDGs program of the three 5 star hotels studied, all of them do not understand the SDGs, but indirectly it turns out that some of their CSR activities have been included in the 17 SDGs indicators, but their implementation has not been optimal due to a lack of knowledge and information about the program. these SDGs. And for the THK program itself, it was found that the three hotels had understood and implemented this program, this was because they were used to implementing CSR programs related to THK, especially in Bali, where THK is one of the local wisdom programs from Bali and there is also the THK Bali Foundation..

Abstract

Bali, as one of Indonesia’s most iconic tourist destinations, is globally celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, traditional arts, and spiritual practices. However, the rapid growth of mass tourism poses significant challenges to the preservation of local culture, potentially leading to cultural commodification and the erosion of community values. This article explores the role of cultural preservation as a strategic pillar for achieving sustainable tourism in Bali. Drawing on qualitative data from stakeholder interviews, local government policy reviews, and ethnographic observations in select Balinese villages, the study examines how traditional customs, rituals, and local wisdom can be integrated into tourism development frameworks. The findings reveal that preserving local culture not only enhances the uniqueness of Bali as a destination but also strengthens community identity, supports local economies, and fosters environmentally responsible tourism practices. Moreover, the involvement of local communities in tourism planning and cultural interpretation is identified as a critical factor in ensuring long-term sustainability. The paper proposes a model of culturally sustainable tourism that emphasizes collaboration between government institutions, private tourism operators, and indigenous communities. By aligning cultural preservation efforts with sustainable development goals (SDGs), Bali can mitigate the adverse impacts of overtourism while enhancing its global competitiveness. This research contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable tourism by demonstrating that safeguarding intangible cultural heritage is not merely a matter of cultural pride, but a pragmatic and necessary strategy for resilient tourism development. The insights offered may serve as a reference for policymakers, tourism stakeholders, and cultural practitioners seeking to balance economic growth with the protection of cultural authenticity in other heritage-rich destinations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine effective promotional strategies to enhance the appeal of cultural tourism and analyze the application of digital media in promoting cultural tourism packages in Tana Toa Kajang Village, Bulukumba Regency. This village is a traditional area with strong and unique cultural potential, but still faces various challenges in terms of tourism promotion. This study used a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Research informants consisted of tourism managers, traditional leaders, local business actors, and tourists. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman (2010), which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the promotional strategies implemented are still conventional and not optimally structured. However, there are efforts to use social media such as Instagram and TikTok to introduce cultural attractions and tourist activities to a wider audience. However, limited human resources and digital infrastructure remain obstacles to the development of digital media-based promotions. With the right and culture-based promotional approach, Tana Toa Kajang Village has the potential to become a leading cultural tourism destination in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

The shift toward flexible learning ecosystems requires teachers to navigate complex pedagogical dynamics in which differentiation, technology integration, and diverse student needs place student agency at the center of learning. This study explores how teachers interpret student agency—reflected in learners’ choices, decisions, and independence—and how these interpretations shape pedagogical strategies in adaptive learning environments. Using an interpretive qualitative approach with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with six teachers from three senior high schools in Bali implementing curriculum flexibility and differentiated instruction. The findings show that teachers’ understandings of student agency evolve from a normative view to a contextual construction, conceptualizing agency as a combination of learner independence, decision-making capacity, and reflective ability. This shift is influenced by student readiness, institutional support, and teachers’ professional experience. The study confirms that student agency is a dynamic construct shaped by interactions between responsive pedagogy and flexible learning environments, contributing to the development of autonomy-oriented learning design in secondary education.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of cultural tourism on the preservation of local traditions in Penglipuran Village, one of Bali’s recognized tourism villages. While previous research has extensively discussed the economic and environmental consequences of tourism, limited attention has been given to its influence on the sustainability of local cultural traditions at the village level. Moreover, existing studies tend to adopt general perspectives, lacking in-depth analysis of specific socio-cultural dynamics within particular communities. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design to explore how cultural tourism interacts with traditional practices in Penglipuran Village. Data were collected through field observation, interviews with community leaders and residents, and document analysis. The findings indicate that although tourism has introduced certain transformations in ritual practices and social organization, the community’s strong adherence to fundamental Hindu philosophical doctrines, such as Widhi Tattwa, Atman Tattwa, Karmaphala Tattwa, Samsara Tattwa, and Moksa Tattwa, serves as a stabilizing framework that sustains cultural continuity. Local perceptions suggest that tourism, rather than eroding tradition, can reinforce cultural preservation due to visitors’ interest in authenticity and ritual life. Strategic measures implemented include participatory tourism governance, cultural education programs, infrastructure development, sustainable mobility systems, community-based partnerships, small enterprise empowerment, experiential and educational tourism packages, regulatory frameworks, systematic documentation, and community capacity building. This study contributes to the discourse on sustainable cultural tourism by demonstrating how religious worldview and community-based management function as key mechanisms in safeguarding local traditions.
