The research aims to map and analyze food scarcity or surplus based on the food availability at migrant area in Wonogiri, Central Java. The rapid rural assessment and focus group discussion were used for detecting and exploring any food plant that is good and appropriate to the characteristics of migrant area. The condition of food availability in the Wonogiri regency could be stated to be surplus. The highest surplus was located in Giriwono sub-district and the lowest surplus in Bulukerto sub-district. Most of the sub-districts in Wonogiri subdistricts reached an IFI score < 0.5 (index of composite food security) in whichit could represent a secure condition.

This study analyzes the efficiency of 15 ports in Indonesia that connect the islands;users' perceptions on the needs of sea transport facilities both in ships andterminals; and a network of passenger facility needs based on preference. Theresearch uses the sequential mixed method. The results show that 4 of the 15 portsamples have not yet reached efficiency. The main reasons why users choose shipsare because ships have complete facilities and are therefore more convenient,allow them to carry more goods, at affordable ticket prices, and users usuallytravel in groups. Users are most concerned with and want complete facilities,comfort, safety and order, viability and accessibility to reach the ports and boardthe ships.

Kegiatan pemanfaatan sumberdaya pesisir yang tidak terkontrol menyebabkan tekanan terhadap keberlangsungan ekologi. Penyelesaian masalah tersebut salah satunya dengan kemitraan semua stakeholder yaitu dengan kesadaran tentang adanya permasalahan yang terjadi dan tanggung jawab dalam mengambil keputusan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis co-management sumberdaya pesisir di Kepuluan Karimunjawa dengan melibatkan seluruh pemangku kepentingan yang terkait.. Data penelitian dikumpulkan pada bulan April 2018 dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara mendalam terhadap informan kunci dengan jumlah 140 orang yang terdiri dari terdiri atas pelaku usaha, pemerintah dan masyarakat dan akademisi. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menerapkan konsep co-management dengan melihat dari 11 kondisi kunci. Hasil analisis co-management menunjukan perlunya dilakukan kerjasama antara pihak akademisi, pelaku usaha, masyarakat dan pemerintah dengan hasil jumlah skor rata-rata 3,17 yang menunjukan bahwa keberhasilan pendekatan kemitraan sumberdaya perikanan di Kepulauan Karimunjawa dalam kondisi cukup. The activity of uncontrolled utilization of coastal resources causes pressure on ecological sustainability. One of the solutions to this problem is through the partnership of all stakeholders, with awareness the problems that occur and the responsibility for making decisions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the co-management of Coastal Resources in Karimunjawa Island by involving all relevant stakeholders. The research data was collected in April 2018 by conducting in-depth observations and interviews with key informants with 140 people consisting of according to business needs , government and society and academics. The analysis used in this study used the management concept together with looking at 11 key conditions. The results of co-management analysis indicate the need for cooperation between academics, businesses, communities and the government with the results of an average score of 3.17 indicating that it is related to partnerships in the Karimunjawa Islands in sufficient condition.

The objectives of the study are: to compare the model of fisheries management with conventional versus new paradigm; to explore the prospect of new fisheries management model; to formulate the initial strategy of fisheries management model using EBFM. The ecosystem of Karimunjawa is selected as the pilot project of this research. The competent 25 keypersons were selected using purposive quoted sampling for interview. Descriptive statistics, meta-analysis and AHP were employed to analize the data. The results showed that the conventional fisheries management models were rather ineffective to answer the current situation of fisheries resource. We need facing out to find a suitable approach of fisheries management model. One of the proposed new paradigm is EBFM. This model indicates has a good prospect to manage the fisheries resource in the study area. This study suggests that EBFM model should be under-tried out. If it is acceptable, then the model can be implemented for other region.

The concept of halal products or foods is now gaining a worldwide discussion due to its recognition as an alternative benchmark for safety, hygiene and quality assurance of what we consume or drink daily. For a moslem consumer, halal foods and drinks means that the products has met the requirements laid down by the Shariah law. It represents the symbol of hygiene, quality and safety product when produced strictly under the Holistic Halal Assurance Management System. It is expected with halal certification to ensure the halal of food consumed by moslem in Indonesia could increase the sharia and economic values for the moslem in Indonesia. Indonesia is a huge market for halal product, and has just legalized regulation on halal product guarantee. The recent dynamics urge the importance of knowledge of consumer’s behavior on halal product. This study is aimed to explore an economic and sharia values of moslem awareness in Indonesia with a pilot project in Semarang City. The standard of halal used are defined from the points of: (1) input or material come from; (2) how to get the input; (3) how to process the input; (4) how to store the input; (5) how to transportage the input; and (6) how to package and serve the input. Mixed-method of quantitative and qualitative had been invoked to analyse the data.The results indicated that the level of awarness for consuming the halal food are vary among the moslem community by her/ his income- and sharia-stratum as perceived by them. It is hardly difficult to aware people of A-B-G-C accordingly for halal food in such high intense of diversity in community in short-term. Of course, a lot of efforts and strong committment among the stakeholders is indeed needed to ensure the halal food consumed by moslem in Indonesia.

The northern coast of Central Java province is considered as the critical area of flood path. Semarang as capital city of this province with its junction area of Kendal and Demak always suffering from flood due to rain and or high tide seawater. It is realised that infrastructures’ capacity for flood control, awareness of people and other multi-factors are significantly contributed on the flood problem in these area. Mixed-methods of quantitative and qualitative are employed to analyze the data. The study found that there was a decline in quality of - people’s life, environment and its ecosystem. Awareness and responsiveness of people and also the other stakeholders are not progressive to overcome the problem of flood. This study is trying to contribute in outlining a model of adaptation and mitigation for the people to restore their ecosystem from the perspective of economist.

Indonesia as an archipelago country has a great endeavor in fisheries and ocean resources. The strategy outlined by Indonesia in developing fisheries resource is by controlling the capture fisheries and extensification for inland fisheries. The code of conduct for responsible fisheries as stipulated by the global market should be fulfilled in all channels, such as production, processing, and distribution. Therefore, it is indeed need for all stakeholders to prepare and to anticipate any possibilities for the future market.

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the innovation capacity of the rural economic institution and its impact on institutional performance.Research was conducted by interviewing 111 managers of rural economic institutions in Semarang regency, Indonesia. Factors of policy and regulation, development of innovation infrastructure, assistance and integration of knowledge were used to analyze the role of the Government and Higher Education in the village innovation system. The institutional management and innovation culture capacity factors were used to analyze the role of rural economic institutions. Policy and regulatory factors, innovation infrastructure, management capacity, assistance capacity, innovation culture and knowledge integration were measured based on the preference of the rural economic institution manager. The qualitative model was examined through an empirical analysis to fulfill the proposed aim of the research.The results of the study showed that: the influential factors on the innovation capacity in rural areas were policy and regulation support, innovation infrastructure, management capacity, innovation culture and knowledge management. Innovation Capacity had a positive impact on institutional performance.The implication of this study highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional and knowledge-based rural economic organizations which was integrated among stakeholders as actors in the rural innovation system.

Mangrove forest is one of the important ecosystems in Karimunjawa, Indonesia. It provides a variety of services both ecologically and economically. However, over-exploited activity, such as timber theft, can be threatening the sustainability of mangrove forest in Karimunjawa now and in the future. Thus, the improved management for mangrove forest is necessary to ensure its sustainability, and it is depending on how people value the conservation from economic and environment consideration. This study examines the factors influencing on the willingness to pay (WTP) of respondents for mangrove restoration in Karimunjawa. A total of 502 respondents were interviewed using census method. The method employed is Contingent Valuation Method (CVM)Single Bounded. In CVM, the logit model was defined based on dichotomous choice method to estimate the willingness-to-pay (WTP) randomly with three different starting bid value. Findings showed that local awareness of the importance of the values given by mangroves was popularized among local communities. The findings also indicated that respondents who are higher education and have more income were more likely to pay for the mangrove restoration.

Due to economic and political turbulencies in Indonesia people are becoming less aware in paying attention to their environment. Younger group might has a better awareness to the environment than the adults ones. This study aims to explore the behavior of younger people's awareness in Semarang City towards the environment.Four hundred and ten students and key-persons such as selected teachers and lecturers, headmasters, and other competent persons had have been interviewed. Descriptive statistics was employed to explain the behavior of respondents in environmental awareness.The study found that respondents in higher school have relatively better attitudes to their environments than respondents in university. It is suggested that we need to reform curriculum and teaching-and-learning processes in conducting formal education with sufficient color of environment. The role of parents and guardians are urgently important to attain the expected environment-awareness.
