Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Problem-Solving-Oriented Basic Chemistry Micro-Modules in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. The method employed refers to the calculation of N-Gain for each critical thinking indicator, namely interpretation, analysis, inference, deduction, and evaluation. The results indicate that all indicators improved, with the highest gains in deduction (0.59) and evaluation (0.64), categorized as medium–high, while interpretation showed the lowest gain (0.32), categorized as low–medium. These findings suggest that problem-solving-based learning is effective in fostering students’ logical, critical, and reflective thinking, although interpretation still requires additional reinforcement strategies. Therefore, the implementation of micro-modules with a problem-solving orientation is recommended as an innovative approach in basic chemistry instruction to strengthen students’ higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

ABSTRAK - Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan atau Research and Development (R&D) yang bertujuan untuk; (1) mengetahui tahapan pengembangan video pembuatan kroket untuk mata kuliah pengolahan makanan kontinental; (2) mengetahui kelayakan video pembuatan  kroket. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model pengembangan 4D. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa konsentrasi tata boga jurusan PKK FT UNM. Pengumpulan data melalui metode dokumentasi, observasi, studi pustaka dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian pengembangan media video pembelajaran pembuatan kroket melalui tahapan: (1) menganalisis kondisi awal dan kebutuhan pembelajaran; (2) tahapan design dan membuat media pembelajaran; (3) validasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media dan, produk pada uji coba kelompok kecil dan uji coba kelompok besar; (4) tahapan evaluasi dan finalisasi produk. Kualitas media pembelajaran dinyatakan sangat valid oleh validator ahli media dengan nilai 100% dan ahli materi dengan nilai 97,90%. Hasil uji kelayakan melalui angket respon peserta didik yang menjaring data terkait kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran pada uji coba skala kecil dihasilkan rata-rata presentase 95,31% dan skala besar 98,92% sehingga dapat dikatakan layak untuk digunakan dalam mata kuliah pengolahan makanan kontinentalKata kunci: Kroket, Pengolahan Makanan Kontinental, Video Pembelajaran

Abstract

Science and technology are very helpful in order to accelerate human work, for this reason human resources are needed that have high productivity and work efficacy so that they are able to produce the latest innovations that can meet market share needs. Education is one attempt that made to form human resources so that they can become someone who is able to analyze and be able to create the latest innovations. Many educational practitioners believe that the use of media or tools really helps the learning process activities both inside and outside, especially helping to improve student learning outcomes. In the Family Welfare Education Undergraduate Program with a concentration in Cosmetology, Makassar State University, there is a bun styling course, one of the subjects of which is Simpolong Tettong bun. The learning method currently established is a conventional learning system with the lecturer as the main source who demonstrates how to make Simpolong Tettong bun. This textbook on the Simpolong Tettong bun material was created by the author himself and is expected to add to the repertoire and references of learning media for bun styling courses. Why a textbook? Because it contains tutorials with practical explanations, easy to brought along and re-read anytime and anywhere. Research and Development (R&D) is a type of research which is used for produce certain products, and examine the efficacy of these products. The development model used by researchers is the Thiangarajan model (1974) using the 4-D model, by the definition of Define, Design, Development and Dissemination, because it is more appropriate to use as a principle to develop teaching materials that aim to improve student learning outcomes in PKK Department of Cosmetology Concentration at FT UNM.
