Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has made public consumption dynamic, supported by increasingly sophisticated technologies such as GoFood and GrabFood. The purpose of this study is to analyze the purchasing decision process, attitudes, consumer satisfaction and test whether there are significant differences in attitudes and satisfaction between GoFood and GrabFood customers. The design of this study was a cross section with one data collection, and the analysis used was qualitative and quantitative. The number of samples used in this study were 100 respondents from the Slovin method, then each region was divided based on the Sampling Quota. Descriptive analysis tool is used for the consumer purchasing decision process. Fishbein Multiattribute Analysis is used to analyze consumer attitudes and consumer satisfaction in this study using the Consumer Satisfaction Index (CSI) analysis. The use of nonparametric Mann-Whitney for the difference test. The results of the study show that there are five purchasing decision processes, the value of attitudes towards consumers of the GrabFood and GoFood applications with 193.88 and 193.86 points, respectively. The attitudes and satisfaction of GoFood and GrabFood consumers were not significantly different, and consumers were considered satisfied with the GoFood and GrabFood CSI scores of 79.24% and 78.16%, respectively.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a major exporter of frozen eels to China. China consistently absorbed more than 80% of Indonesia's eel exports. Indonesian exports have been declining in recent years, whereas global demand, including China, is expected to grow. This may lead to competition among the exporting countries in the Chinese market.Purpose: This study aims to identify the structure of the frozen eel export market in China, the factors affecting the demand share, and to analyze the competition between Indonesia's frozen eel and other exporting countries in the Chinese market. Design/methodology/approach: The Herfindahl–Hirschman Index and Concentration Ratio (CR4 and CR8), and an Almost Ideal Demand System model. The data used were Secondary data from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan, and India from to 2012-2023. Findings/Results: The analysis shows that the export market structure of frozen eels in China is oligopolistic. Factors affecting the demand for Indonesia’s frozen eel in China are its own price, the price of frozen eel in the rest of the world, the exchange rate, and China’s GDP. Pakistan and Thailand have competed with Indonesia. Indonesian frozen eels are classified as normal goods, but are inelastic. Indonesia is the second-most benefited country in terms of China’s increase in import expenditure. Conclusion: Indonesia should leverage its competitive advantage in determining the pricing of frozen eels in the Chinese market and expand its market share in the global market. Furthermore, Indonesia can collaborate with Malaysia and India to capitalize on complementary market conditions.  Originality/value (state of the art): This is the first study of its kind to examine the Indonesian Eel market structure and competitiveness in the Chinese market. It is also the first to integrate market structure theory with the AIDS model. Keywords: almost ideal demand system (AIDS) model, eels, export, Chinese market, international trade

Abstract

Processed food SMEs in Gorontalo Province are one of the sectors contributing to regional economic development. The government implements policies and programs to develop competitive processed food SMEs. This study aims to analyze the formulation of policies for the development of processed food SMEs, with the hope of optimizing the production and added value of these SMEs through increasing production volume and market access. This study used a quantitative approach using primary data and secondary data in the form of time series. A dynamical system method with six scenarios is used and simulated until 2045. The results showed that the best scenario for achieving the research objectives was scenario six. Scenario six is carried out by simulating business capital assistance programs as well as increasing partnerships, business legality, and digitalization simultaneously. The production volume of processed food SMEs will reach 764,352 pcs in 2045, with a market access value of 41.67%. Policies need to focus on business financing and increasing the business capacity of processed food SMEs in Gorontalo province. The results of the policy simulation can be considered in realizing the achievement of accelerating the development of competitive SMEs, as stated in the Long-Term Development Plan of Gorontalo Province. Abstract

Introduction: Agriculture is no longer facing challenges in the classic way but with modern method called smart farming. Hope this can be a solution to improve agricultural quality and productivity which will lead to increased farming profits. One of them is digital water timer, it helps distributing water in hydroponics. In reality, not many farmers implemented smart farming or greenhouses due to lack of information and costs. This study aims to analysis profit and the factors influencing it. Methods: The research was conducted in Jambi City collected with the help of questionnaires and literature study. Primary data was collected from 155 respondents including hydroponics with smart farming in greenhouses, hydroponics non-smart farming in greenhouses, hydroponics only, and conventional farming. The analytical research method used is quantitative descriptive and data processing using the R/C ratio formula, whereas to determine the factors using multiple linear regression with F-test and t-test. Results: The results showed that the R/C ratio is 1.74, which means farming is profitable to implement. Hydroponics with smart farming provides the highest profit among other technologies and costs less than non-smart farming. The profit obtained is 18.6% higher than non-smart farming. The higher the technology, the more production will increase. Smart farming affects positively to the Kailan production followed by other factors that is land area. Conclusion: This finding provides technology such as smart farming has potential impacts to improve farm profit.
