Abstract

This qualitative case study aimed to identify the challenges faced by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers at the First Class Correctional Institution for Children in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, while teaching English to young inmates. The participants included two high school English teachers from this institution. Data collection was conducted through interviews to obtain in-depth descriptions of the difficulties encountered. A thematic analysis was employed to evaluate the data and highlight the specific difficulties faced by the English teachers. The findings revealed four primary challenges experienced by the teachers in their efforts to teach English to young inmates: 1) issues related to time management, 2) students’ negative attitudes, 3) a lack of available textbooks, and 4) inadequate classroom conditions. These challenges significantly impact the effectiveness of English instruction within this unique educational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of digital financial inclusion and women's participation in strengthening food independence among coastal communities in South Sulawesi. The research sample consisted of 100 female respondents from Takalar, Bantaeng, and Bulukumba Regencies. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The findings reveal that digital financial inclusion has a positive but not significant effect on food independence (β=0.176; p=0.139), while women's participation has a positive and significant effect on food independence (β=0.568; p<0.001). Simultaneously, the two variables explain 50.4% of the variation in food independence, with the remaining 49.6% influenced by factors outside the model. These results highlight that the active role of women in economic activities, social participation, and household decision-making is more decisive in achieving food independence than mere access to digital financial services. The practical implication of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening women’s empowerment programs through financial literacy and digitalization, as well as expanding cross-sector collaboration to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of gender equality, poverty alleviation, and food security in coastal regions.

Abstract

The waste problem remains a major challenge in maintaining environmental sustainability, particularlyrelated to soil quality. People's habit of littering causes pollution, reduces soil fertility, and has negativeimpacts on health. Through this community service activity, efforts were made to raise public awarenessabout the importance of disposing of waste properly and introduce the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) asa method of sustainable waste management. The activity was carried out through socialization and directpractice with the community of Selli Village, Bengo District. The socialization included an explanation of theimpact of waste on the environment, while the direct practice included waste sorting, making simple compost,and reusing used goods that can still be used. The results of the activity showed an increase in communityunderstanding of the dangers of waste if not managed properly. In addition, a shared commitment wasformed to get used to disposing of waste properly and applying the 3R principle in everyday life. Thecommunity also began to be able to utilize organic and inorganic waste more productively. This communityservice activity is effective in fostering a culture of environmental awareness while also being a concrete stepin preserving the soil and creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

Education is a basic right of every citizen, including children with special needs (ABK) who require special education services to develop their potential optimally. One important factor in supporting successful learning is the availability of educational facilities and infrastructure, however, in reality, there are still special schools with limited facilities. This study aims to analyze the impact of the lack of facilities on the teaching and learning process at the Al Halim Private Special Needs School (SBLS). The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation on November 21, 2025. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that limited classroom space, a lack of learning media, and a lack of supporting facilities have an impact on the suboptimal implementation of learning and individual services for students according to their special needs. These conditions limit the variety of learning methods that can be applied by teachers. However, the availability of dormitory facilities and free shuttle services are supporting factors for the continuity of student education. This study has limitations in the number of subjects and the scope of the study. Therefore, support from schools and the government is needed to improve facilities and infrastructure to enhance the quality of education for children with special needs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komunikasi persuasif yang dilakukan orang tua terhadap anak dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan beribadah. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriktif kualitatif, penelitian berlokasi di Lingkungan 5 Cerbon Kecamatan Wonomulyo. Tehnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi.Hasil penelitian dalam hal merubah pandangan anak untuk lebih disiplin dalam beribadah, kedua orangtua memiliki peran penting dalam mendidik anak, dan peran mereka saling mempengaruhi dan berhubungan satu sama lain. Dalam hal memodifikasi persepsi anak dalam melaksanakan ibadah, komunikasi persuasif yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang dan setiap hari dalam lingkungan keluarga dapat membentuk dan memodifikasi sikap anak terhadap ibadah. Pada aspek membentuk respon (sikap dan perilaku), dengan memadukan bermain dan belajar, orangtua menciptakan kesempatan yang optimal untuk mengajarkan pemahaman tentang pentingnya agama kepada anak. Komunikasi persuasif orang tua terhadap anak dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan beribadah anak ialah dalam hal ketepatan waktu, Informan orangtua berupaya untuk memahamkan anak bahwasanya beribadah shalat secara tepat waktu merupakan kewajiban setiap umat islam. Pada aspek tanggung jawab melaksanakan ibadah, orangtua menjadi contoh yang konsisten dalam melaksanakan shalat tepat waktu dan mengaji dengan tekun. Untuk membangkitkan kehendak beribadah shalat dan mengaji pada anak, informan orangtua menggunakan pendekatan yang positif dan memotivasi.

Abstract

Manajemen laba menjadi isu penting dalam dunia akuntansi yang kerap memunculkan dilema etis. Dalam konteks Islam, praktik ini seharusnya tunduk pada prinsip syariah yang menekankan kejujuran, keadilan, dan kemaslahatan. Artikel ini mengkaji pendekatan Khalifatulfil Ard dalam manajemen laba, yang menekankan tanggung jawab moral sebagai khalifah di bumi. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui kajian literatur dengan metode analisis kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep Khalifatulfil Ard dapat menjadi landasan etis dalam praktik manajemen laba melalui penerapan prinsip amanah, kejujuran (siddiq), keadilan (al-adalah), dan kemaslahatan (maslahah). Pendekatan ini mendorong transparansi pelaporan keuangan dan mengurangi praktik manipulatif dalam entitas bisnis syariah. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam pengembangan akuntansi syariah dengan menawarkan model konsep Khalifatulfil Ard sebagai landasan etis dalam praktik manajemen laba

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of active listening in fostering effective communication between teachers and young children at IDHATA I Kindergarten. It also identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation and examines its impact on the quality of communication throughout the learning process. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed in this research.The research subjects consisted of school principals, class teachers, and group B children at IDHATA I Kindergarten. Data were collected through observation and interview techniques, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis techniques which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the application of active listening by teachers is able to increase children's confidence in communication, strengthen the emotional relationship between teachers and children, and create a conducive and fun learning environment. In addition, teachers who practice active listening are better able to understand children's needs, emotions, and challenges, making the learning process more meaningful. However, its implementation continues to face several challenges, including limited time, differences in children's communication abilities, insufficient professional training, and teachers' administrative workload. Therefore, support from schools is essential through continuous training and professional development to help teachers implement active listening consistently and foster effective communication with young children.
