Abstract

This study explores the development of religious character education in Indonesian elementary schools over the past five years (2019–2025). Utilizing a literature review method, the research analyzes a wide range of academic sources, including journal articles, books, and educational policy documents, to examine how religious values are integrated into school culture, curriculum, and learning practices. The findings reveal that religious character education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ moral and spiritual foundations, fostering values such as honesty, empathy, tolerance, and responsibility. Schools that successfully implement religious character education tend to embed religious practices into daily routines, promote teacher role modeling, and cultivate supportive environments aligned with national educational goals, including the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. However, several challenges persist, including inadequate teacher training, limited resources, curricular time constraints, and lack of parental and community involvement. Addressing these issues requires collaborative efforts among educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure the effective and sustainable integration of religious character education. This study concludes that a holistic and context-sensitive approach is essential for advancing the moral development of students and strengthening their capacity to navigate ethical challenges in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This community service aims to enhance elementary school teachers’ ability to utilize the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) using the Design Thinking approach. The main issues addressed include a lack of understanding of PMM features and administrative challenges that hinder teaching processes. The implementation method follows the five stages of Design Thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, designed to provide training based on the real needs of teachers. The results show that the training successfully improved participants' understanding of PMM, with an average satisfaction level of 4.8 on a Likert scale. Teachers also gained confidence in identifying problems and designing creative solutions. However, time constraints limited participants’ opportunities to explore the material deeply. The program recommends follow-up training, replication in other regions, and continuous assistance to support the implementation of technology in the field. Abstract

In the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning not only serves to transmit knowledge but also fosters students’ critical and creative thinking skills through contextual and experiential approaches. One of the key topics in IPAS for Phase C, particularly in sixth grade, is the human movement organs, which integrates an understanding of body structure, physiological functions, and healthy lifestyle habits. However, the main problem encountered is students’ limited understanding of movement organs and their functions, as reflected in the average scores that remain below the minimum mastery criteria. This issue arises from the limited instructional media used by teachers to explain abstract concepts. This study aims to design digital teaching materials based on Genially for the IPAS subject on human movement organs for sixth-grade students. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving teachers and sixth-grade students at an elementary school in Pasrepan District. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and validated using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the use of Genially-based digital materials enhanced student engagement, improved conceptual understanding of human movement organs, and provided an interactive and enjoyable learning experience.
