Abstract

Education is more than just teaching—it involves helping students understand and develop character, honing their innate potential in the learning process. This paper aims to provide teachers with insights on how to understand child development through developmental psychology and child psycholinguistics approaches. Teachers can create a more effective and supportive learning environment by understanding cognitive, emotional, and language development stages. The developmental psychology approach helps teachers recognize the emotional and social needs of children, allowing them to offer appropriate support at each stage of development. Meanwhile, child psycholinguistics enables teachers to understand how children acquire and develop language abilities, thus helping them create more appropriate and effective teaching methods. By integrating these two approaches, teachers can better design curricula and teaching strategies that suit the developmental needs of each child. This not only enhances teaching effectiveness but also helps children fully develop their potential holistically, covering cognitive, emotional, social, and linguistic aspects. A deep understanding of developmental psychology and child psycholinguistics equips teachers with the necessary tools to support each student's educational journey, making education a more meaningful experience and building the character and skills needed for their future.

Abstract

Indonesia’s linguistic and cultural diversity is seriously threatened due to globalization, technological acceleration, and the declining intergenerational transmission of local languages. This study explores the strategic role of digital transformation in preserving local language, literature, and culture within the framework of Society 5.0. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the paper analyzes various digital initiatives—such as educational websites, mobile applications, and multimedia content—as tools for revitalization and dissemination. Results show that digital platforms support documentation and access and strengthen literacy, 21st-century competencies (5C), and cultural identity among younger generations. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of multisector collaboration and community-based sustainability models to overcome challenges such as limited digital infrastructure, lack of linguistic documentation, and human resource constraints. Digitalization thus emerges not merely as a technological adaptation, but as a transformative movement for cultural resilience, innovation, and global relevance. The findings offer a framework for integrating local heritage into the future digital ecosystem.

Abstract

Literacy is not only about reading and writing skills, but also includes the ability to understand and use information critically, so that a culture of reading literacy is critical in developing children's knowledge and insight. However, literacy conditions in Indonesia are still low. Therefore, the family environment plays a vital role as the primary foundation in fostering a culture of reading literacy in elementary school children through role models, support, and provision of facilities that support reading activities at home. The study aimed to identify the most influential family factors in building a literacy culture and formulate practical strategies that parents can apply to create a home environment conducive to developing elementary school children's literacy. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through documentation studies of relevant literature to build a conceptual framework and an in-depth understanding of the topic. Data analysis was carried out through three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The study results showed that the family environment plays a vital role in fostering a culture of reading literacy in elementary school children through role models, emotional support, and adequate reading facilities. The active involvement of parents in children's literacy activities has been shown to increase interest in and improve reading habits from an early age.

Abstract

Sundanese idioms represent a vital component of local cultural wisdom that must be preserved and understood by younger generations. Nowadays, the effectiveness of teaching these idioms has declined due to limited student engagement and comprehension. This study investigates the effectiveness of using Wordwall media in enhancing students' understanding of Sundanese idioms. Employing a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design, data were collected from 34 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 29 Bandung. Students were assessed through tests administered before and after the implementation of Wordwall-based instruction. Data analysis, conducted using SPSS version 27 and Google Spreadsheet, revealed a notable improvement in student performance—from an average pretest score of 55 to a posttest score of 80. A Wilcoxon test indicated a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000 < 0.05) between pretest and posttest results. These findings confirm that Wordwall media effectively supports the learning of Sundanese idioms and contributes to the development of innovative and engaging language learning tools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the function and outlook of the Sundanese people as reflected in the Sundanese babasan and paribasa containing hydrological aspects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis to identify and interpret the meanings contained in the babasan and paribasa expressions. The results show that Sundanese babasan and paribasa related to water (hydrology) not only function as a means of communication, but also as a guide to morals, ethics, and a philosophy of life. Various proverbs such as "cikaracak ninggang batu laun-laun jadi legok" which means water dripping continuously on a stone eventually becomes a hollow, reflect the Sundanese people's understanding of perseverance, patience, adaptation, and sustainability. These expressions also describe the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, especially water, which is considered a source of life and a symbol of purity. Thus, Sundanese babasan and paribasa with hydrological elements function as heirs of local wisdom that shape the character and perspective of the Sundanese people towards life, nature, and social values. Understanding these aspects is important for preserving cultural heritage and understanding the roots of Sundanese thought.
