Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve teachers’ capacity in designing local language learning models, particularly Sundanese and Javanese, based on local wisdom. The method employed was participatory training with a collaborative Focus Group Discussion (FGD) approach involving lecturers and teachers. The training participants consisted of local language teachers from various junior high schools (SMP) and Islamic junior high schools (MTs) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The results of the activity indicated that teachers showed high enthusiasm for developing more innovative and contextual learning models. The characteristics of the designed model emphasized the integration of local cultural values, the use of creative methods, and strategies for strengthening students’ character. Further analysis revealed that the model’s strengths lie in its relevance to the Kurikulum Merdeka and its appeal to students, but it also faces challenges such as limited implementation and varying levels of teacher readiness. The recommendations include school-based trials of the model, follow-up training, and the development of supporting modules with cross-institutional collaboration support.

Abstract

The existence of local languages continues to decrease the number of speakers, so it is necessary to carry out preventive efforts. The method can be in the form of transformation into digital form. This effort is a step to change the form or transfer print, audio, and video media into digital form. This paper aims to explain certain media that can be used as innovations in digital-based learning of the Sundanese language. The media are in the form of websites (sundanesepedia.com and sundaculture.com) and digital learning applications (MABS: Bahan Ajar Basa Sunda).

Abstract

Education is more than just teaching—it involves helping students understand and develop character, honing their innate potential in the learning process. This paper aims to provide teachers with insights on how to understand child development through developmental psychology and child psycholinguistics approaches. Teachers can create a more effective and supportive learning environment by understanding cognitive, emotional, and language development stages. The developmental psychology approach helps teachers recognize the emotional and social needs of children, allowing them to offer appropriate support at each stage of development. Meanwhile, child psycholinguistics enables teachers to understand how children acquire and develop language abilities, thus helping them create more appropriate and effective teaching methods. By integrating these two approaches, teachers can better design curricula and teaching strategies that suit the developmental needs of each child. This not only enhances teaching effectiveness but also helps children fully develop their potential holistically, covering cognitive, emotional, social, and linguistic aspects. A deep understanding of developmental psychology and child psycholinguistics equips teachers with the necessary tools to support each student's educational journey, making education a more meaningful experience and building the character and skills needed for their future.

Abstract

Indonesia’s linguistic and cultural diversity is seriously threatened due to globalization, technological acceleration, and the declining intergenerational transmission of local languages. This study explores the strategic role of digital transformation in preserving local language, literature, and culture within the framework of Society 5.0. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the paper analyzes various digital initiatives—such as educational websites, mobile applications, and multimedia content—as tools for revitalization and dissemination. Results show that digital platforms support documentation and access and strengthen literacy, 21st-century competencies (5C), and cultural identity among younger generations. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of multisector collaboration and community-based sustainability models to overcome challenges such as limited digital infrastructure, lack of linguistic documentation, and human resource constraints. Digitalization thus emerges not merely as a technological adaptation, but as a transformative movement for cultural resilience, innovation, and global relevance. The findings offer a framework for integrating local heritage into the future digital ecosystem.

Abstract

Literacy is not only about reading and writing skills, but also includes the ability to understand and use information critically, so that a culture of reading literacy is critical in developing children's knowledge and insight. However, literacy conditions in Indonesia are still low. Therefore, the family environment plays a vital role as the primary foundation in fostering a culture of reading literacy in elementary school children through role models, support, and provision of facilities that support reading activities at home. The study aimed to identify the most influential family factors in building a literacy culture and formulate practical strategies that parents can apply to create a home environment conducive to developing elementary school children's literacy. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through documentation studies of relevant literature to build a conceptual framework and an in-depth understanding of the topic. Data analysis was carried out through three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The study results showed that the family environment plays a vital role in fostering a culture of reading literacy in elementary school children through role models, emotional support, and adequate reading facilities. The active involvement of parents in children's literacy activities has been shown to increase interest in and improve reading habits from an early age.

Abstract

Religious prejudice among students poses a serious challenge to Islamic education in pluralistic societies. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Qur’an-based Religious Diversity (QbRD) method in reducing religious prejudice among Muslim university students. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research combined the qualitative development of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) materials with a quasi-experimental quantitative approach. The QbRD learning model was implemented in four stages: (1) student-led discussions on the concepts of faith and disbelief; (2) lecturer-led reflection on the Islamic mission of moral excellence; (3) student analysis of Qur’anic verses concerning Muslims and non-Muslims; and (4) student synthesis of theological perspectives based on the Qur’an. The study involved 12 IRE classes, with 200 students in the intervention group and 200 in the non-intervention group. Statistical analysis showed a significant improvement in the intervention group’s positive religious attitudes (t = 16.925, p < 0.01), while the control group showed minimal change. These findings indicate that QbRD fosters inclusive theological understanding and interfaith tolerance among students. The study suggests that Qur’an-based and dialogical pedagogies can play a transformative role in Islamic education, particularly in universities and pesantren, to promote peace and religious moderation.

Abstract

The dynamics of language use in multilingual Indonesian society give rise to language interference and integration. This study aims to identify the forms of language interference and integration in the television show 'Enah Bikin Enak' aired on Trans 7. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through literature study and documentation of several show episodes. The data were analyzed to find forms of interference and language integration between Sundanese and Indonesian. The results showed several forms of interference in phonology, morphology, and syntax. In addition, regional vocabulary and expressions are integrated into the Indonesian language used in the show. These findings reflect the dynamics of language use in mass media, which cannot be separated from the influence of social and cultural developments.
