Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implications of positivism on the scientific method through a literature review. Positivism, a philosophical school developed in the 19th century by Auguste Comte, emphasizes the importance of empirical observation, verification, and objectivity in acquiring scientific knowledge. This study is important because it provides a better understanding of how positivism influenced the scientific method and how this method developed and is used in the contemporary academic world. Through this literature review, the research explores the history of positivism, its core principles, and its contributions to the scientific method in both natural and social sciences. Additionally, critiques of positivism by philosophers such as Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn are analyzed, particularly in relation to its limitations in addressing complex and subjective phenomena. The findings indicate that while positivism has played a significant role in the development of science, the more flexible post-positivist approach is increasingly relevant in addressing contemporary scientific research challenges.

Abstract

Several campuses in Indonesia, even Jambi University, show that the level of student participation in student organizations is experiencing instability. Some students appear enthusiastic and active in carrying out organizational activities, but others show a low level of motivation or even withdraw from membership. Not a few student organizations experience stagnation due to the lack of member involvement, both in terms of implementing work programs and making strategic decisions. The aim of this research is to measure the influence of self-efficacy on student organizational motivation in the PTQ Student Organization (OK) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University with a total of 41 respondents. The research method used is quantitative, expost-facto approach, sampling using purposive sampling via questionnaires or questionnaires as a data collection tool. The research results show that there is a high influence of self-efficacy (X) on organizational motivation (Y), with a determination value of 0.630 or 63.0% in the High or Strong category.

This study aims to identify aspects of self-awareness of students at SMKN 9 Muaro Jambi. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample of 204 students selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire whose validity and reliability have been tested using SPSS 26. The results show that self-awareness of SMKN 9 Muaro Jambi students is in the good category (67%), with details that self- assessment is (70%), recognizing emotions (69%), and self-confidence (62%). This illustrates that most students have quite good abilities in understanding themselves and their emotions, but still need to strengthen their self-confidence. This study is expected to provide more in-depth insights for guidance and counseling teachers who need to design and implement programs that focus on developing student self-awareness, namely recognizing emotions, self-assessment, and self-confidence, as well as providing a basis for schools and parents in decision-making and student resilience against negative influences from the surrounding environment. Abstract

The integration of Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) has become a fundamental prerequisite for 21st-century education. However, existing literature remains predominantly focused on resource-rich urban environments, leaving a significant gap in understanding how TPACK is constructed within infrastructure-scarce rural contexts. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of teachers in Muaro Jambi Regency in negotiating technological constraints and to propose a contextualized adaptation model. Utilizing a qualitative Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, data were collected over a three-month period through semi-structured in-depth interviews with nine teachers from SMPN 1, SMPN 7, and SMPN 30 Muaro Jambi. Data collection continued until thematic saturation was achieved. The analysis focused on interpreting emergent themes related to teachers’ socio-adaptive TPACK practices within limited technological environments. The findings reveal that infrastructural limitations, rather than functioning solely as barriers, act as catalysts for the emergence of “Socio-Adaptive TPACK.” This model consists of three interconnected dimensions: (1) Technical Adaptation through low-tech optimization and teacher agency, (2) Pedagogical Adaptation through collaborative interaction with students, and (3) Collaborative Adaptation through intergenerational knowledge sharing and social cohesion among teachers. The study concludes that, in developing regions, TPACK should not be understood merely as an individual cognitive competence, but as a communal asset shaped through resilience, collaboration, and social capital. These findings imply that professional development programs should move beyond top-down technical training and instead foster sustainable communities of practice within rural schools.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the influence of learning and innovation skills on students’ attitudes toward the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing and its effect on their writing proficiency. A sequential explanatory mixed-method design was employed to provide both statistical and in-depth insights. The quantitative data were gathered by means of questionnaire and writing assessment from 34 second semester English Department students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Jambi through stratified random sampling from the population of 120 students. The questionnaire measured students’ attitudes towards AI in writing through communicative, behavioural, and cognitive indicators and the IELTS writing rubric was used to assess writing proficiency. To understand the experiences and perceptions of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly, qualitative data was collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations of seven purposively selected participants. The results showed that students’ attitude towards AI significantly affected their writing skills (Sig. = 0.006 < 0.05). Students who had positive and critical attitudes towards AI produced more coherent, original and well-organized writing, whereas students who were overly dependent on AI performed worse and showed lower creativity. The study finds standard artificial intelligence can be an effective assistive device in developing writing ability when it is paired with sufficient cognitive and ethical consciousness. These findings underline the significance of advocating digital literacy as a norm, critical thinking, and responsible utilization of AI in English language education.
