Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of citric acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction (MAE) method on total polyphenols content from (Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth) herbs. Dried samples were extracted using green solvent glucose citric acid with a ratio of 1: 1 g/g, 3: 1 g/g, and 5: 1 g/g, respectively, 30% microwave power for 5 minutes, and 1:5 g /mL solid-liquid ratio. Then the obtained extract solution was performed determination total polyphenols content using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, and the absorbance was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 791 nm. Based on the results, obtained total polyphenols content according to the extraction condition namely 214.405 mg GAE/g sample (3: 1 g /g solvent), 84.833 mg GAE /g sample (1: 1 g /g solvent) and 53,9451 mg GAE/g sample (5: 1 g /g solvent), respectively. Abstract

Dayak Onion (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.) It is a plant that grows in Indonesia precisely in the Kalimantan area and has traditionally efficacious in curing various diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, breast cancer, cholesterol-lowering, and stroke. This study aims to determine the effect of using the lactic acid-sucrose based microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) method to extract total polyphenols from Dayak onion tubers (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.). Dry samples were extracted using a lactic-sucrose acid (green solvent) solvent in the ratio of 1: 1, 2: 1, and 3: 1 g/g with 50% microwave strength for 10 minutes with a ratio of samples and solvents of 1:10 g /mL. Extracts that have been obtained then determined the total polyphenol levels using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained the levels of polyphenols from each condition of the solvent used in the sample that is 28.73 mg GAE/g sample ( 1: 1 g/g solvent); 20.2 mg GAE/g sample ( 2:1 g/g solvent); 36.35 mg GAE/g sample ( 3:1 g/g solvent). From this study, it can be concluded that the MAE method can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Dayak bulbs.

Abstract

The use of environmentally friendly solvent-based expulsion methods today began to be widely used, one of which is a microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) using a citric acid-glucose acid solvent. The study aims to determine the influence of the use of citric acid-glucose based microwave-assisted extraction against the total extraction of polyphenols from Dayak onion bulbs (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.).The dried samples were extracted using a solvent (green solvent) citric acid – glucose with a ratio of 4:1, 5:1 and 6:1 g/g with the extraction conditions in the form of microwave strength of 50% for 10 minutes with a sample and solvent ratio of 1:10 g/mL, then Extract solution obtained further determination of the total levels of polyphenols using Folin ciocalteu reagents, and its absorption was measured using a UV-vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the results of the study, the total amount of polyphenols obtained from each of the solvent conditions used against the samples was 21.92 mgGAE/g samples, 13.86 mgGAE/g samples, and 14.38 mgGAE/g samples. From this study, it can be concluded that the concentration of citric acid in the microwave-based citric acid-glucose method is assisted by extraction according to the ability of the solvent in the competency of polyphenols from Dayak onion bulbs.

Abstract

Abstract

Anemia is a condition when the blood hemoglobin level is less than normal because to iron deficiency. Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) and guava (Psidium guajava) are sources of iron which can increase blood hemoglobin levels. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of dragon fruit juice and guava juice on increasing blood hemoglobin levels for menstruating women. The design of this research was Quasy Experimental Pre-Post Design which was conducted in two test groups. The first grup was given dragon fruit juice and the second group was given guava juice. Sampling was determined by purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The hemoglobine level was using the Easy Touch GCHB tool and analyzed by the Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed that the effect of dragon fruit and guava juice on the hemoglobin level of menstruating women before the intervention in first group test was 11.5 g / dl, second group test was 10.5 g / dl and after the intervention the average was 13.6 g / dl and 13.5 g / dl. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-Test statistical analysis which has a p value

Abstract

Traditionally, kadamba leaves have benefits for treating diarrhea, diabetes, pain, rheumatism, gout and have been scientifically proven to be antinociceptive and inhibit T47D breast cancer cells. This study aims to determine the toxicity of NADES-based extract from kadamba leaves by looking at the LD50 value and its effect on body weight and behavior of mice. The 15 mice used were divided into 5 groups with 3 mice in each group. The NADES-based extract from kadamba leaves was given orally with various doses of 4000 mg/KgBB, 8000 mg/KgBB, 16000 mg/KgBB, and 32000 mg/KgBB and one group was given a solvent. Each group was observed for 30, 60, 120, 180, and 240 minutes after administration of the extract and the observations were continued for 14 days to observe toxic symptoms, changes in body weight and death. Based on the results of the study, no deaths were found in the solvent group, 4000 mg/KgBB, and 8000 mg/KgBB. For the group with a dose of 16000 mg/KgBW, 2 mice died and the group with a dose of 32000 mg/KgBW found the death of 3 mice, so the LD50 value obtained was 14.256 g/KgBW which was included in the practically non-toxic category.
