Abstract

Arabic grammar (nahwu) in higher education is often taught through memorization and static texts, which hinders systematic understanding and independent practice. This study developed and evaluated Jurumiyah.ID, a web-based learning platform that organizes the Matn al-Ājurrūmiyyah and selected syarah, adds cross-referenced rules, and embeds interactive quizzes to support self-directed learning. The development followed a Research & Development approach using the ADDIE Model, and Waterfall SDLC adaptation. Core features include searchable matn and rule summaries, cross-references among interdependent rules, and short formative tests designed for rapid feedback and review. Methodologically, the study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design to estimate learning gains attributable to structured practice on Jurumiyah.ID. The objective test bank was constructed from 30 items and reduced to 10 valid items through corrected item total correlations; internal consistency was acceptable (Cronbach’s α = 0.794). Participants (n = 40) were students from Qur’anic Studies and Islamic Education programs at Universitas Islam Darussalam Ciamis. Post-test performance exceeded pre-test performance, indicating measurable improvement in students’ understanding of key Ajurrūmiyyah rules after using web. Psychometric screening supports the adequacy of the instrument for detecting change (10 valid items; α = 0.794), and the design isolates short-term learning gains under guided self-study conditions. The platform’s modular design and searchable knowledge base enable scalable integration into course syllabi and independent study. Future work should extend to controlled comparisons and broader content coverage to strengthen causal inference and generalizability.

Abstract

This study purposed to analyze the effectiveness of the Arabic language learning model based on Edgar Dale's cone of experience theory. The method used library research by taking books, journals, and documents. The result of this research is that Arabic language learning with an experiential learning model, according to Edgar Dale's cone of experience, is effective learning and can help to develop Arabic language learning that is focused and empowers students to master it. Learning Arabic through this model is also very effective for teaching Arabic as a means of communication. Experiential learning and Edgar Dale's cone of experience theory have a strong fit in the context of Arabic language learning. Dale's cone of experience theory illustrates different levels of student participation and involvement in learning, ranging from concrete experience to abstract conceptualization. According to Dale, direct and interactive experiences promote more effective learning, which is consistent with the experiential learning approach. In experiential Arabic learning, students engage in direct experience by speaking, listening, reading and writing in Arabic, which is the first step in the cone of experience.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of bi'ah lughawiyyah in Arabic language learning at the Sudan Asia Afrika School in Jakarta and to examine the influence of the language environment on students’ Arabic language skills. The research addresses the following question: how does the implementation of bi'ah lughawiyyah contribute to students’ Arabic language acquisition in a multicultural school environment? This study was motivated by the importance of the language environment in supporting the success of Arabic language learning, especially in schools with diverse cultural backgrounds. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving madrasah leaders, teachers, and students as research informants (n=1 school leaders, 4 teachers, and 10 students). The results showed that the school actively implements the use of Arabic in both learning activities and daily communication. Fusha Arabic is used in classroom instruction according to the Sudanese curriculum, while amiyah is used in informal interactions between students and teachers. The presence of native-speaker teachers from various Arab countries further supports the creation of a natural and communicative language environment. In addition, the school culture that habituates students to continuous Arabic use helps students understand and apply Arabic in daily life. This study concludes that bi'ah lughawiyyah significantly influences the success of students’ Arabic language acquisition and offers a unique contribution by highlighting the integration of fusha and amiyah within a multicultural Arabic learning environment in Indonesia.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is essential in language learning, particularly in Arabic, which features complex morphological and syntactic structures. However, vocabulary instruction ofte relies on memorization, limiting meaningful and sustained acquisition. This study examines the effectiveness of fill-in-the-blank sentence puzzles as a contextual instructional strategy to enhance vocabulary learning, retention, and learner engagement. A quasi-experimental design with a non equivalent control group was employed, involving 50 junior secondary students (25 experimental, 25 control). Data were collected through pretest, posttest, delayed posttest, an a motivation questionnaire. Quantitative data were analyzed using t-test and effect size calculations. The results show that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in both immediate learning (t(48) = 7.85, p < 0.001) and retention (t(48) = 6,92, p < 0.001). The experimental group also achieved higher retention (93.44% vs. 90.63%) and engagement (M = 88 vs. 72). These findings indicate that contextual puzzle-based tasks promote deeper cognitive processing and more durable vocabulary acquisition. This study provides emperical support for contextua; and task-based vocabulary learning and offers a practical, low-resource strategy for enhancing Arabic vocabulary instruction.

Abstract

Mastering Arabic vocabulary is crucial for supporting students' language proficiency, especially in Islamic boarding schools where Arabic serves both religious and daily communication purposes. However, vocabulary acquisition remains challenging due to conventional methods that rely on rote memorization and lack engaging media. While previous studies have explored audiovisual-based PBL separately, few have integrated both specifically for Arabic vocabulary in pesantren contexts. This study aims to develop an effective audiovisual-based PBL to enhance vocabulary mastery. Employing Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), this research included needs analysis, media design, expert validation, and effectiveness testing through pre-test and post-test. Data analysis involved normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests to measure effectiveness. Results show that the developed media is valid and feasible according to experts and significantly improves students’ vocabulary mastery, with a mean difference = -28.729, t = -17.170, and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. This research demonstrates that the application of audiovisual media in conjunction with PBL can produce more meaningful learning, improve retention, and enhance students' critical thinking skills. These findings provide practical contributions in the form of new strategic options for Arabic language teachers and reinforce the urgency of implementing audiovisual-based PBL in modern education.
