Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the social emotional learning model compared to conventional methods and its interaction with learning motivation on social empathy and learning outcomes of elementary school students in Social Studies (IPS). This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a 2x2 factorial model. The population in this study were all fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Kelurahan Menanggal Surabaya, totaling 250 students, with a sample size of 120 students spread across four classes (ABCD) and selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included a questionnaire to measure learning motivation and social empathy and a learning achievement test to measure mastery of the IPS material. Data collection techniques were carried out through distributing questionnaires and conducting written tests. Data were analyzed using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) technique with the help of SPSS software version 27.00. The results showed that there was a significant influence of the learning model on social empathy and students' IPS learning outcomes. Social emotional learning was more effective than conventional methods in improving both. Learning motivation also had a significant effect on social empathy and learning outcomes. Furthermore, there was a significant interaction between the learning model and learning motivation on both dependent variables. This interaction indicates that social-emotional learning has a greater impact, especially on students with low motivation. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of social-emotional learning in social studies is highly effective in building social empathy and improving students' academic achievement, especially when combined with efforts to increase learning motivation.

Abstract

The quality of elementary science learning remains a concern due to low student engagement and the limited alignment between instructional strategies and students’ learning characteristics, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the effect of multiple application-based learning and students’ learning styles on science learning outcomes, as well as their interaction. A quantitative quasi-experimental design was employed involving 60 students divided into experimental and control groups selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using observation, questionnaires, and tests, and analyzed using multiple linear regression with prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity. The results show that multiple application-based learning significantly improves science learning outcomes compared to conventional methods (p < 0.05), while differences in learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) are not statistically significant. In addition, no significant interaction effect is found between instructional method and learning styles, indicating that the multiple application approach has a stronger direct influence on learning outcomes. These findings suggest that integrating multiple platforms such as LMS, WhatsApp Group, and Telegram can enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in elementary science learning, and future research is recommended to explore broader assessment approaches and additional moderating variables.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of digital library use on improving student learning performance at the UNIPA Surabaya Graduate School. The use of digital libraries is increasingly important in supporting the teaching and learning process, particularly in providing easy and fast access to various academic resources. The method used in this study is regression analysis, which measures the effect of digital library use on student learning performance. The results of the analysis indicate that digital library use has a positive and significant effect on improving student learning performance. The regression coefficient indicates that each one-unit increase in digital library use increases student learning performance by 0.575. Furthermore, the results of the significance test indicate that the effect of digital library use is highly significant with a Sig. value of 0.000. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that digital library use plays a significant role in supporting the improvement of student academic performance.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and globalization has driven the transformation of learning towards a more interactive, collaborative, and student-centered process. However, social studies learning in schools is still often considered boring, abstract, and less able to improve students' social skills. Low student learning motivation and the dominance of conventional media such as Microsoft PowerPoint are challenges in creating effective learning. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Team Game Tournament (TGT) Cooperative Model assisted by Quizizz media on students' social skills, the effect of learning motivation on students' social skills, and the interaction between learning models and learning motivation in social studies learning at SMPN 2 Ketapang. The study used an experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design and a 2x2 factorial design. The research sample consisted of 121 ninth-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year who were divided into experimental and control groups using saturated sampling techniques . Data collection was carried out through social skills tests, learning motivation questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used normality tests, homogeneity tests, and two-way ANOVA assisted by SPSS 27.0. The results of the study indicate that the TGT learning model assisted by Quizizz has a significant effect on students' social skills compared to the use of Microsoft PowerPoint with an F value of 139.709 and a significance of 0.000. Learning motivation also has a significant effect on students' social skills with an F value of 10.512 and a significance of 0.002. In addition, there is a significant interaction between the learning model and learning motivation on students' social skills with an F value of 11.250 and a significance of 0.001. The findings of the study indicate that cooperative learning assisted by interactive technology is able to create a more active, competitive, and collaborative learning atmosphere so that it effectively improves students' social skills. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating interactive digital learning media in social studies learning to support the development of students' social skills and learning motivation. Further research is recommended to test the effectiveness of similar models at different educational levels and develop other variables such as communication skills, creativity, and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low problem-solving abilities of Indonesian students as reflected in the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 and the continued dominance of conventional learning that causes students to be passive and dependent on educators. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Flipbook media and learning motivation on students' problem-solving abilities. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design through a Nonequivalent Control Group Design and a 2x2 factorial design. The research sample consisted of 120 students selected using random sampling. Data collection was carried out through problem-solving ability tests, learning motivation questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and Two-Way ANOVA assisted by SPSS 27.0. The results showed that the Discovery Learning model assisted by Flipbook media had a significant effect on students' problem-solving abilities with a value of F = 132.505 and p = 0.000. Learning motivation also had a significant effect with an F value of 9.875 and p = 0.002. There was also a significant interaction between the learning model and learning motivation with an F value of 10.157 and p = 0.002. The experimental group achieved a higher average problem-solving ability than the control group. The R Squared value of 0.596 indicates that the learning model and learning motivation were able to explain 59.6% of the variation in students' problem-solving abilities. This study confirms that the integration of innovative learning models based on digital technology can improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills in 21st-century students. Further research is recommended to develop the use of Flipbook media in different materials and educational levels by involving additional variables such as creativity and digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the storytelling method using cardboard puppets and learning motivation on the speaking ability and self-confidence of kindergarten children. This study used a quantitative design with an experimental approach, where the research subjects were kindergarten children who were divided into two groups: an experimental group using the storytelling method using cardboard puppets and a control group using the lecture method. This research method used measurement instruments in the form of a speaking ability test and a scale for measuring children's self-confidence. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, and questionnaires filled out by parents related to the level of children's learning motivation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques with the help of SPSS 27 software for hypothesis testing. The results showed that the storytelling method using cardboard puppets had a significant effect on the speaking ability and self-confidence of kindergarten children. This method proved to be more effective than the lecture method. In addition, children's learning motivation also played an important role, where children with high learning motivation showed greater improvements in speaking ability and self-confidence. The interaction between the storytelling method using cardboard puppets and learning motivation showed that these two factors were mutually reinforcing, providing a greater impact on the development of both variables. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that teachers select and integrate interactive methods, such as storytelling using cardboard puppets, especially for children with high learning motivation. Further research is also recommended to investigate the influence of children's emotional factors, such as anxiety or fear, which may affect their speaking skills and self-confidence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of Adaptive Learning. This study presents current research issues and future advances in Adaptive Learning from 2020 to 2023 through the Publish or Perish (PoP) database. The analysis consists of citation analysis and co-citation analysis. This bibliometric analysis review provides important insights for researchers to identify the most influential publications and determine their fundamental structure. Furthermore, this review facilitates future studies on influential research trends and emerging topics. The findings present several discussions based on klasters identified from the two analyses. Next, theoretical and methodological implications for the emergence of new subfields and exciting future work related to Adaptive Learning are presented. The results will assist academics and practitioners in advancing technology and helping Adaptive Learning ensure the continuity of student education during emergencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze test items on students' understanding in learning English. Test items used as an assessment must have objective quality that can be accounted for, so the questions are analyzed statistically which includes (1) validity analysis, (2) reliability analysis, (3) difficulty level analysis, and (4) question discrimination analysis. The form of research used in this study is quantitative descriptive research. This research is an evaluation involving 30 students. The instrument used in this study is data collection through documentation techniques. Analysis of the test item data was carried out using the SPSS 25 program. The results of the difficulty index test show that the test items are in the very easy category 20%, the test items are in the medium category 72% and the test items are in the easy category 20%. While the test results of the test show that the test items are at a very good level with a presentation of 4%, the questions are in the good category with a presentation of 64%, and the questions are in the sufficient category with a presentation of 24%. The questions presented can be analyzed with valid and reliable results and can be distributed well. Thus, it can be concluded that the questions are suitable for use in midterm exams. The benefits of this research include the need to always prepare backup questions to replace those deemed unsatisfactory, revisions to questions deemed good enough for reuse, and addition of questions deemed good to the question bank.
