Abstract

Kata kunci: Kappaphycus alvarezii, habitat, talus, karang, domestikasi  Abstract: The objective of this study was to obtain Eucheuma cottonii seeds from their natural habitat in Ekas Bay and breed these seeds. This research was conducted in Ekas Bay, Lombok Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat. The method used in this study is the exploration method and description method. Eucheuma cottonii which has been found, has more morphological characteristics that have a talus so that it appears as thorns in the thalus. Talus is hard and stiff and has a greenish brown color. Eucheuma cottonii was found attached to rocks and corals which were in the range of 1 meter to 1.5 meters. Eucheuma cottonii sticks firmly to the substrate so that it is difficult to take by hand, must use a knife or other cutting tool. Eucheuma cottonii can be bred and grow well in Ekas Bay. Keywords : Kappaphycus alvarezii, habitat, talus, coral, domestication

Abstract

Raja Ampat Islands have been designated as a Marine Nature Reserve (SAP) since 2014, and community activity in these waters remains high for tourism, fishing and sea transportation activities. All of these activities have the potential to suppress the condition of the coral reefs there. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of zoning in terms of social and ecological indicators. This research was conducted using the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method for coral reef fish and the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method for coral cover at a depth of 5-7 m. The set critical threshold value is used to evaluate the success of the zoning taken by interviewing fishermen. The results of the study found that the core zone had unfavorable conditions compared to the other zones. Based on an analysis of ecological indicators, the percentage of coral cover was only 20.9% and an abundance of reef fish of 28 ind/m2. The results of the social analysis of the community, Waisilip Village has the lowest level of compliance with a value of 56%. Meanwhile, 77% of respondents agree with zoning, and only 19% understand the zoning management system. The management of SAP Raja Ampat can be said to be effective by taking into the ecological and social indicators of the community. Increase in the percentage of coral cover in the core zone (0.2%), utilization zone (3.9%), sustainable fisheries zone (0.8%) and cultivation zone (5.7%). Most fishermen have good insight and concern for coral reefs and other aquatic resources.

Abstract

Smart Patrol application-based surveillance and monitoring activities are a form of patrol to communities that utilize conservation areas. This activity aims to determine the pattern of utilization and the level of community compliance with zoning in the Marine Conservation area of Lipan Island and Rakit Island. This research was carried out in January-December 2021 with a total patrol of 25 times / year, involving 3 Supervisory community groups (POKMASWAS): Kuda Laut, Karya Abadi and Lestari Bahari. The results of this study showed that there were 50 utilization points by 121 people from various villages: Labuhan Sangoro, Teluk Santong, Labuhan Aji, Labuhan Jambu, and Labuhan Kuris. In general, the fishing gear used is dominated by Gill Nets (28%) and Arrows (20%) with the composition of the catch being Reef fish (57%) and Small Pelagic fish (31%). Meanwhile, based on the level of fishermen's compliance in each zoning in the core zone, including the good category (76%), the utilization zone (97%) and the rehabilitation zone (98%) are in the excellent category

Abstract

Several activities affect the distribution of gastropods and bivalves, one of which is the activity of the community around the coast which is thought to affect water quality. The entry of organic and inorganic contaminants into coastal waters is thought to cause a decrease in water quality followed by changes in physics, chemistry and biology. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of gastropods and bivalves in the waters of Jukung Bay, Ujung Betok Hamlet, Pemongkong Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency. This research was conducted in Ujung Betok Hamlet (Tukung Bay Waters), Pemongkong Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency. the study was conducted from October 2022 to July 2023. The results showed that the highest species abundance was found in the Gastropoda class Nassarius sp with an abundance of 31 individuals/m2. The highest gastropod and bivalves diversity index value was obtained at point 3, namely 0.42 individuals/m2. The highest gastropod and bivalves uniformity index value was obtained at point 2 with a uniformity index value of 0.28. The dominance index value obtained was 0.1-0.56 individuals/m2 included in the moderate dominance category. Based on the results and discussion it is known that the abundance of gastropods and bivalves in the coastal waters of Jukung Bay which were analyzed totaled 108 individuals. The diversity index (H') obtained in this study ranged from 0.41-1.39 individuals/m2. The uniformity found ranged from 0.14 to 0.28 individuals/m2. The dominance index obtained ranged from 0.1 to 0.56 individuals/m2.
