Abstract

Porang plants (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) are herbaceous plants that are commonly found growing wild in forested areas, under bamboo clumps, along riverbanks, on mountain slopes, amidst dense and humid vegetation. Porang propagation from corms and cormels requires a considerable amount of time, around 7-9 months. Therefore, there is a need for the development of porang seedlings through easy vegetative propagation methods that can be implemented at the farmer level. This research utilized Entisol soil originating from Andalan Village, Bayan Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency. The research was conducted using an experimental method. The treatments were arranged using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) involving 4 seed sources (porang cormels/bulbils, split corms, porang leaves, and porang stems) with 3 treatments, namely no treatment, biochar, liquid organic fertilizer, PGPR, and Trubus plant growth regulator. The analysis of variance results showed that the application of various growing media (biochar, liquid organic fertilizer, and PGPR) influenced changes in soil properties and the growth of porang seedlings. The growth of porang seedlings was influenced in the split corm and cormel techniques. Further tests indicated that the cormel technique, specifically in terms of plant height and stem diameter, was affected by the addition of organic materials compared to the absence of organic material application

Abstract

Problems with Entisol soil fertility in the Dry Land of North Lombok Regency, which is dominated by sandy soil. This is a major factor in carrying out agricultural production activities on dry land in the North Lombok region. One of the efforts that must be made to increase soil fertility is by modifying the root area through the addition of soil amendments such as manure and cocopeat. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth response of sorghum plants to the application of cocopeat combined with cow manure in dry land. The method used in this research is an experimental method with field experiments. The experimental design in this study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments, P0 (soil/control), P1 (100 kg/ha silicate fertilizer), P2 (10 tonnes/ha manure + 100 kg/ha silicate fertilizer), P3 (10 tons/ha cocopeat + 100 kg/ha silicate fertilizer), P4 (10 tons/ha manure + 10 tons/ha cocopeat + 200 kg/ha silicate fertilizer). Each treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 20 experimental units. The effect of giving a combination of manure and cocopeat on sorghum plants showed significant results on plant height and plant stem diameter at each observation, namely at plant ages 25, 32, 39 and 46 HST.

Abstract

During the 28 years of implementing agroforestry in Rarung Forest, Lombok Tengah, a research study was conducted to examine the soil characterization in the agroforestry plots of Rajumas (Duabanga moluccana), Klokos (Eugenia sp), and Jukut (Eugenia polyantha). The research method used was a descriptive method with survey techniques. Three agroforestry systems were studied: Rajumas agroforestry, Klokos agroforestry, and Jukut agroforestry. Soil samples were taken from each soil profile layer beneath the respective land uses.The research was conducted in July-August 2022, at the Rarung Forest area in Central Lombok, and the soil analysis was performed at the Soil Physics and Conservation Laboratory and the Soil Chemistry and Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Mataram University. Three parameters were tested: soil physical properties (soil bulk density, soil particle density, porosity, and soil texture), soil chemical properties (soil pH, organic carbon, total nitrogen, and cation exchange capacity), and soil biological properties (CO2 evolution).The results of the study showed that the soil properties varied among all land use systems. Over the 28-year period, the Rajumas agroforestry system had the best soil quality in terms of physical and chemical properties, while the Klokos agroforestry system exhibited rapid soil CO2 evolution in terms of biological properties

Abstract

Gili Air is part of a group of small islands without waste problems. Efforts to reduce and manage waste in Gili Air, Gili Indah Village, still need to be improved, considering that the potential for waste generation is still significant, especially organic waste, which is 55% of the total potential for waste generation. The potential for recycling waste on Gili Air shows a waste-carrying capacity index value of 0.20, which means it is lower than the generation potential. It impacts Gili Air's relatively low level of waste support. As a tourist destination, Gili Air produces solid waste from local communities and tourism activities. This community service activity aims to increase awareness of the community and business owners in the tourism sector in Gili Air to reduce the rate of daily waste generation by reducing and utilizing organic waste to be processed into solid or liquid compost. The method applied for community service on Gili Air is in the form of outreach and training, demonstrating the stages of composting using a simple process that is easy for local communities to implement. Based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of community service activities, there was an increase in understanding of community service participants. It is indicated by a decrease in the percentage of wrong answers from the questionnaire announced after the service activity (post-test). In the pre-test before receiving community service, it was discovered that 59% of people still answered the statement on the questionnaire wrong. However, wrong answers decreased to only 12% after socialization and training. Increasing understanding of the pre-and post-test statements shows that socialization and training can positively impact community empowerment in managing household waste into solid and liquid fertilizer.

Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri) is a tuber plant that contains the compound of glucomannan which has high economic value with a number of benefits, including as an industrial raw material. The glucomannan content of porang tubers has received special attention in research, including field research to determine soil properties that influence growth and content of gucomannan in porang tubers. A field survey has been carried out to determine the physical properties of soils that influence the glucomannan content of porang tubers grown in four clusters of agroforestry in the dry land of North Lombok, Eastern Indonesia. The results of the research showed that the physical properties of the soil that had a significant effect on the glucomannan content of porang tubers were soil bulk density (BD) with an R2 value of 53.15%, soil porosity with an R2 value of 60.23%, and silt particle fraction with an R2 value of 23. 47%. Thus, managing soil physical properties to facilitate the better quality of porang tubers is necessary.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of soil amendments in the form of cow, form goat manures and PGPR biofertilizer on cotton plants intercropped with corn in the dry lands of North Lombok Regency. The research aims is to determine the growth and yield response of cotton plants due to the application of soil amendments and PGPR in an intercropped system with corn in dryland areas. The research was conducted from December 2023 to June 2024 in Andalan Village, Bayan District, North Lombok Regency. The method used is an experimental method with field trials. The design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD), incorporating two factors: soil amendment treatment (P) as the main plot and PGPR (K) concentration treatments as the subplot. Soil amendments consisted of three levels: P0 (no cow manure and no goat manure), P1 (20 tons/ha cow manure), P2 (20 tons/ha goat manure). PGPR concentration consisted of four levels: K0 (without PGPR), K1 (20 ml/liter PGPR application), K2 (30 ml/liter PGPR application), and K3 (40 ml/liter PGPR application). The research results indicated that the application of 20 tons/ha of goat manure (P2) produced the highest average across all observed parameters (plant height, number of leaves, branch number, stem diameter, and plant yield). Similarly, the application of 40 ml/liter PGPR produced the highest average for these observed parameters. Based on the results of the land equivalent ratio (LER) analysis, this integration system shows highly suitable and relevant to be applied in the dry lands of North Lombok.

Abstract

Desa Gumantar merupakan wilayah lahan kering yang potensinya cukup luas, dimana di daerah ini banyak dibangunkan sumur pompa air tanah dalam oleh pertintah untuk penyediaan air irigasi daerah dari masyarakat. Pemberian air pompa dilakukan secara bergiliran antara petani satu dengan yang lainnya kemudian dilakukan pengaturan oleh kelompok tani dan Juru Pengairan dimasing-masing sumur pompa yang disesuaikan dengan kemampuan pompa tersebut. Dalam rangka untuk mendorong agar mahasiswa bisa mengenal sistem irigasi lahan kering yang ada dilapangan dan juga untuk bisa mengenal lebih dekat sistem irigasi hemat air yang perlu disebar luaskan kemasyarakat, perlu diberikan pelatihan irigasi hemat air seperti sistem tetes agar efisiensi air penggunaan air tanah dapat dilakukan secara bersama-sama oleh masyarakat lahan kering dimasa mendatang. Pelatihan ini dilakukan pada lahan kering Desa Gumantar pada lokasi JIAT yang sudah ada, pada luas lahan 3 are – 5 are yang menggunakan air tangki. Jaringan irigasi menggunakan pipa pvc diameter ½” dan ¾” sedangkan untuk pipa lateral di atas bedengan digunaka pipa plastik hitam yang bisa kembang dan kempes dan pipa tetes menggunakan selang piping. Pelatihan terdiri dari kegiatan penyiapan lahan lahan oleh petani setempat, penyiapan bahan irigasi oleh tim Unram, Pelatihan pembuatan jaringan irigasi, pelatihan pemasangan pipa lateral tetes, pelatihan pemasangan selang piping dan pengujian irigasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa telah berhasil melakukan pelatihan pada 5 orang mahasiswa teknik Sipil dan 4 orang mahasiswa Fakultas Pertanian dalam pembuatan jaringan irigasi tetes di lahan kering Desa Gumantar. Mahasiswa telah memperoleh pengetahuan irigasi di lahan kering dan keterampilan dalam membuat irigasi tetes dengan selang piping di sekitar JIAT yang ada. Diharapkan nantinya mahasiswa dapat mengembangkan dan memanfaatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman yang diperoleh persiapan menggapai dunia kerja jika menemui potensi penerapan yang terkait.

Abstract

Epistemologi, yang mempelajari sumber, sifat, dan batasan pengetahuan, memberikan kerangka untuk mengevaluasi pengembangan dan penerapan teknologi biochar dalam remediasi lahan bekas tambang di Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB). Selain itu merupakan tantangan lingkungan yang signifikan, menghadirkan masalah seperti degradasi tanah dan pencemaran lingkungan. Dalam konteks ini, biochar telah muncul sebagai solusi potensial dalam remediasi lahan yang terdegradasi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi pemanfaatan biochar dalam remediasi lahan bekas tambang di NTB, dengan fokus pada tinjauan epistemologi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis literatur dan sintesis konsep epistemologi yang terkait dengan aplikasi biochar dalam konteks remediasi lahan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan epistemologi memainkan peran krusial dalam memahami efektivitas dan efisiensi pemanfaatan biochar dalam konteks remediasi lahan bekas tambang. Implikasi epistemologis dari pemanfaatan biochar juga dibahas dalam kerangka konsep yang mengintegrasikan perspektif ilmiah, sosial, dan budaya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan biochar dalam remediasi lahan bekas tambang di NTB tidak hanya bergantung pada aspek teknis, tetapi juga memerlukan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang kerangka epistemologis yang mengarah pada pengembangan solusi yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis pengetahuan

Abstract

AbstrakPorang (Amorphopallus muellery Blume) merupakan tanaman umbi-umbian yang dapat tumbuh baik pada kondisi lahan kering. Kelompok Tani Berkah Bersama Desa Batu Rakit Kabupaten Lombok Utara telah berhasil memanfaatkan potensi lahan kering desa untuk budidaya tanaman porang dengan hasil panen umbi porang mencapai 112,5 kwintal. Keterbatasan pengetahuan anggota kelompok tani terkait pengolahan pascapanen porang mengakibatkan umbi porang hanya dijual dalam kondisi segar, sedangkan umbi porang segar harga jualnya rendah dan tidak dapat disimpan dalam waktu lama. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota Kelompok Tani Berkah Bersama untuk mengolah umbi porang segar menjadi chips porang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan berupa pelatihan dan pendampingan praktek langsung pembuatan chips porang. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 22 September 2024 dengan 15 peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta untuk mengolah umbi porang menjadi chips porang, tercermin dari hasil uji produksi mandiri yang berjalan dengan baik. Diharapkan setelah kegiatan pengabdian ini, Kelompok Tani Berkah Bersama dapat memproduksi chips porang secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan sehingga dapat mengoptimalkan potensi tanaman porang di Desa Batu Rakit Kabupaten Lombok Utara. Kata kunci: chips porang; porang; teknologi pascapanen. AbstractPorang (Amorphopallus muelleri Blume) is a tuberous plant that grows well in arid conditions. Berkah Bersama Farmer Group of Batu Rakit Village, North Lombok Regency, has successfully cultivated porang crops on the village's dry land, yielding a harvest of 112.5 quintals of porang tubers. The limited knowledge of farmer group members regarding porang post-harvest processing has resulted in the tubers only being sold in their fresh state. Fresh porang tubers are unsuitable for long-term storage and have a low selling price. The purpose of this community service activity is to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of Berkah Bersama Farmer Group in processing porang tubers into porang chips. Implementation methods are provided in the form of socialisation and direct practical assistance in the production of porang chips. The activity was conducted on 22 September 2024 with 15 participants. The results demonstrated a notable improvement in the participants' knowledge and abilities pertaining to the processing of porang tubers into chips, reflected in the results of the independent production test which went well. It is aspired that subsequent to this service activity, Berkah Bersama Farmer Group will be capable of producing porang chips independently and sustainably, thereby optimizing the potential of porang crops in Batu Rakit Village, North Lombok Regency. Keywords: porang; porang chips; postharvest technology.

Abstract

AbstrakMerkuri merupakan salah satu senyawa logam berat berbahaya yang biasa digunakan dalam penambangan emas skala kecil. Bahaya yang ditimbulkan dari penggunaan merkuri ini tidak hanya berdampak pada lingkungan, akan tetapi juga pada Kesehatan masyarakat yang ada dilingkungan tersebut. Akan tetapi, sebagian besar masyarakat, terutama di wilayah penambangan emas skala kecil sekotong, belum mengetahui dan menyadarinya. Kegiatan pengabdian Sosialisasi Bahaya Merkuri Terhadap Lingkungan di Penambangan Emas Skala Kecil Sekotong, Lombok Barat dilaksanakan di Desa Pelangan, kecamatan Sekotong dengan kelompok sasaran Penambang emas Kayu Putih Bangkit. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 mei tahun 2024 dengan perwakilan masyarakat sejumlah 15 orang. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap bahaya penggunaan merkuri dalam penambangan emas skala kecil. Pengabdian dimulai dari kegiatan survey dan koordinasi awal dengan kelompok penambang Kayu Putih Bangkit, dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan inti yaitu sosialisasi dan mengukur tingkat pengetahuan dan kesadaran Masyarakat akan bahaya merkuri. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat dapat meningkat 84% menjadi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sebelumnya. Kata kunci: emas; lingkungan; merkuri; PESK AbstractMercury is one of the dangerous heavy metal compounds commonly used in small-scale gold mining. The dangers caused by the use of mercury not only affect the environment, but also the health of the people in the area. However, most people, especially in the Sekotong small-scale gold mining area, do not know and are not aware of it. The community service activity of Socialization of the Dangers of Mercury to the Environment in Small-Scale Gold Mining in Sekotong, West Lombok was carried out in Pelangan Village, Sekotong District with the target group of Kayu Putih Bangkit gold miners. The socialization activity was carried out on May 4, 2024 with 15 partisipans. The aim of this community services are increasing public knowledge and awareness of the dangers of using mercury in small-scale gold mining. The community service began with survey activities and initial coordination with the Kayu Putih Bangkit miner group, and then continued with core activities, namely socialization and measuring the level of public knowledge and awareness of the dangers of mercury. The results of this activity showed that the level of public knowledge and awareness could increase by 84% to be higher than before. Keywords: environment; gold; mercury; SSGM
