This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the digital campaign strategy carried out by Ganjar Pranowo and Ridwan Kamil via the Twitter platform. The method used is qualitative research with a Qualitative Data Analysis Software (QDAS) approach via Nvivo 12 Plus. Data was collected using the N-Capture tool via the official Twitter accounts @ganjarpranowo and @ridwankamil during the period July 2022 to June 2023. The accounts @ganjarpranowo and @ridwankamil were chosen as research objects because they are both public figures who have great influence on social media. The analysis is carried out based on five main indicators: popularity, activity, responsiveness, visibility and interaction. The research results show that Ridwan Kamil is more effective in using Twitter as a digital campaign medium. The @ridwankamil account has more than 5.5 million followers, much more than the @ganjarpranowo account which has 3.3 million followers. Ridwan Kamil was also more active in using hashtags, such as #jabarjuara which was used 768 times, while Ganjar Pranowo only used the hashtag #lapakganjar 19 times. However, Ganjar Pranowo shows a higher level of activity with a higher number of tweets and a higher proportion of retweets. Both accounts show almost the same number of mentions on the @jokowi account, reflecting equal involvement in national issues. In conclusion, the @ridwankamil account is more effective than @ganjarpranowo in conducting digital campaigns via Twitter.

Abstract

This article explains the results of community service in disaster-prone areas, namely the Merapi Volcano Tour in Umbulharjo Village, Cangkringan, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, which is based on social and cultural sustainability. The results of the discussion show that the natural potential of Mount Merapi, including forests, rivers affected by the eruption, agriculture, livestock, the house of the caretaker of the late Mbah Maridjan, the Kaliadem bunker, and the culture of the local community, have been successfully capitalized into leading tourist attractions. Tourism development is carried out by integrating traditions and cultures and involving the community in its management. This strategy based on social and cultural sustainability has proven effective, with the number of tourists in 2022 reaching 415,951 people, which contributes significantly to improving the economy of local residents. One of the results of this community service activity is the implementation of a workshop involving 25 residents, which aims to increase the capacity for participatory tourism management. This workshop provides training on social and cultural-based tourism management, while strengthening collaboration with the government and the private sector. However, several challenges still need to be addressed, such as improving road infrastructure and ensuring tourist safety given the difficult terrain, as well as the need for better collaborative strategies to preserve local culture and improve the quality of tourism services without damaging local cultural heritage.

Muhammadiyah and NU play key roles in supporting residents' efforts to protect the environment and social justice. This study examines their involvement in maintaining environmental sustainability and social justice in Wadas Village, focusing on their contributions to organizing the community. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used in this research. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with residents, Muhammadiyah and NU members, and observations of advocacy activities and actions carried out by both organizations. The data were analyzed thematically. The findings show that Muhammadiyah and NU are actively involved in legal advocacy, scientific research, and religious activities, such as mujahaddah at local mosques, to build social awareness and strengthen the residents' resistance to harmful policies. The struggle of Wadas residents is closely linked to the active roles of Muhammadiyah and NU in fostering social solidarity, collective awareness, and environmental sustainability advocacy. This study highlights the significant contribution of religious organizations in social and environmental movements and their influence on public policies favoring the community.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the phenomenon of political marketing, especially how the online mass media builds Anies Baswedan’s branding as a presidential candidate. The branding of presidential candidate serves as a phenomenon of Indonesian national politics particularly when NasDem Party declared Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate on October 3, 2022. The methodology of this study uses qualifiers, and the technique of analysis and data analysis uses Nvivo12 plus mainly in online media reporting in Indonesia (CNN, Kompas, Media Indonesia, and Detik.com).  The results of this study showed that the four media outlets were actively reporting on the nomination of Anies as a presidential candidate. The massive reporting put Anies' personal electability ahead of other political opponents. The identification is based on the analysis of content about Anies in the four online media outlets. In terms of quantity, Media Indonesia more actively reported on Anes’ candidacy than the other three media outlets. This is because of power polarization relationship in terms of ownership relationship between NasDem Party and Media Indonesia. Thus, the news frame leans towards Anies and indirectly it can be used for marketing and branding politics.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explain Muhammadiyah's personal branding strategy for the Special Region of Yogyakarta in winning its cadre, Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno, to become a member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia in the 2024 election. Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno won 398,903 votes or 17.32% of the total percentage through this strategy. This political, institutional support is interesting to explain because it shows the practice of low politics, even though Muhammadiyah's political doctrine has been to play a role in high politics or national politics and not low politics, which is power-oriented. This article is the result of qualitative research, which uses interview techniques, observation, documentation, Focus Group Discussion, and Nvivo 12 Plus and Geographic Information System in its analysis. The discussion results show that the personal branding carried out by the Yogyakarta Special Region Muhammadiyah towards Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno can be understood as an effort to combine high politics and low politics in seizing power and policy space. The separation of high and low politics is not rigid in its implementation at the local level. This political flexibility does not mean opportunism because it remains within the framework of preaching reform or tajdid in the political field. To realize the interests of political da'wah, the electoral behavior of Muhammadiyah citizens is more effectively controlled institutionally so that the potential of the Muhammadiyah network can be optimized rather than given the freedom to choose.

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of social media on public opinion in Indonesia, with a focus on the 2024 general election. As of January 2023, Indonesia has 167 million active social media users or 60.4% of the total population. This study highlights how platforms such as Twitter can spread hate speech, causing social tension, psychological distress, and even physical violence, especially against minority groups. This rapid spread of misinformation and hate speech threatens the democratic process, impacting voter behaviour and trust in institutions. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research explores user experiences, identifying forms of hate speech such as defamation and incitement. The findings emphasise the need for stricter law enforcement, public education on tolerance, and ethical political campaigns. While social media enhances political engagement, it requires robust measures to prevent abuse and ensure election integrity and social cohesion.
