Abstract

The research question in this research is how effective classroom learning is using asynchronous learning with the purpose to determine the effectiveness of learning in class by observing students' ability to accept and understand a material with asynchronous method. The research method in this research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Descriptive qualitative research method is a non-experimental research method that is relatively easy. This research method is used to describe qualitative data obtained related to the state of the subject of a population. The participants in this study are English education students Muhammadiyah University in Makassar. Purposive sampling is use by the researcher at this time. The result of the research reveal that , it can be said that online learning is effective because of the data obtained by many existing courses. using asynchronous learning methods in learning, namely by using Google Classroom as a learning application that is often used because it has many features that greatly support the effectiveness of learning and some student opinions from interviews regarding the effectiveness of online asynchronous learning.

Abstract

This research focused in optimizing the Discord application to enhance students' vocabulary in synchronous learning. The method used in this research was pre-experimental research method with one group pre-test and post-test design, and the data were collected by giving pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research was class VII A of SMP Negeri 5 Mandai. The sample consisted with 27 students. The population of this research was the first-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Mandai which consisted of 297 students in the academic year of 2021/2022. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique to select the sample. The technique used for obtaining data was vocabulary test. The research findings showed that the mean score of the students in vocabulary was proved by post-test 72,77 was higher than the mean score of pre-tests 64,07. Furthermore, by the result of the hypothesis t-test value was 11,126 which mean higher than t-table 2,056. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Based on the findings that there was significance difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. Eventually, optimizing Discord application to the students’ vocabulary enhancement in synchronous learning was excellent to applied to the further research.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of text-to-speech software improves students listening skills.The researcher used Pre-Experimental design in the form of One Group Pre-test - Post-test design. There are two variables in this study. The first variable is a dependent variable and the second variable is an independent variable. Dependent variables are listening, meanwhile, the independent variable is Text-to-speech software. The population in this study is the students of SMPN 21 Makassar and the sample of this study is the 3rd-grade students where the class consists of 18 students. The instruments that the researcher used in this study are tests.The results of the research is The used Text to Speech Software were able to improve the students’ listening skill at the second at the 3rd GRADE SMPN 21 MAKASSAR. Based on the result of the reseaarch. The mean score of Pre-Test is 62,16 and the Post-Test mean score is 69,44. Based on the difference from the mean score students get in lestening skill show the improvement from pre-test to post-test where the increase of students increased by 12%. The improvement of students’ achievement significantly.

Abstract

This research was aimed at revealing students’ perceptions on the use of hot potatoes in English subject at the 5th semester students of English Education department at Makassar Muhammadiyah University. This research applied descriptive method that spending one month period of time for the data collection by using questionnaire as well as focus group discussion consisting 8 statements to be analyzed. The data was taken from 15 students by using purposive sampling technique of the 5th semester students of English Education department in order to find out students’ perception on the use of hot potatoes in English subject. The result of data analysis revealed that all participants had positive perception toward hot potatoes. The first variable revealed students’ perception on the use of hot potatoes where the average participants clarified that the program was suitable for language testing. The second variable revealed students’ perception on the teacher strategy in teaching English by using hot potatoes. With the regard of this program, participants clarified that was an appropriate strategy for English evaluation. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that according to students’ perception, hot potatoes was user friendly program and appropriate strategy for English subject

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary by using Big City Adventure Sydney Australia Software Game as learning method and to know the students’ attitude towards using media game in learning vocabulary at SMAN 13 Luwu. The researcher used Classroom Action Research as the research method. The researcher conducted two cycles; each cycle consisted of three meetings. It was done at class XI IPA2 which consist 36 students. The research findings indicated that Big City Adventure Sydney Australia Software Game improved the students’ English vocabulary that focus on noun. It was proved by the improvement of the students’ achievement. Before treatment, the students’ vocabulary was very poor. Only 3 students (8.33%) got Good score. Most of the students are difficult in memorizing some vocabularies. At the end of the first cycle, any 9 students (25%) got Good score. In the second cycle, any 19 students (52.77%) got Good score. the mistake made by students in stressing syllables decreased, and the words that they memorize had increased. Finally, the students’ result of the cumulative vocabulary test there are 2 students (5.55%) got excellent score and 25 students (69.44%) got Good score. It could be concluded that use of Big City Adventure Sydney Australia Software Game was improve significantly of the students’ achievement. The students’ attitude in memorizing English words, It was proves that the presence of Game as a method and media improved the students’ enthusiasm in learning and also enhanced the students’ participant during learning process

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the improvement of the students’ listening ability in listening skill by using SPOTIFY Application as a tool that focused on Listening English song to identify what words the singer said and the meaning of the song. The researcher applied pre-experimental method with one group pre-test - post-test design, and collected the data based on the test. The sample of the research was the first semester students, which consisted of 25 students. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The research findings showed that the first semester students of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar had fairly score in pre-test. After treatment, their listening ability in identify phoneme words increase significantly. The result of the research were the mean score obtained by the students through pre-test was 57.2 and posttest was 74.4 with the t-test value orientation is greater than t-table (10.8>2.06). Listening through English Song in term of identify the phoneme words improved 17.2%. The result of calculating t-test of the indicators in the students’ t–test listening ability in listening through English Song was greater than t-table 25.1>2.06. Eventually, based on findings and discussion above, the researcher concluded that the improvement of the students listening ability through English song using SPOTIFY Application was significant improved

Abstract

This research aimed to find out is the implementation of Baby Bus You Tube to enhance the students’ vocabulary in seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Tinggi Moncong or not. It was emphasized on the improvement of the students’ vocabulary in English by using Baby Bus YouTube video. The research applied a Pre-experimental Method, with one group Pre-test and Post-test design, which consisted of six meeting, includes the treatments. The sample was taking by purposive sampling technique and the total of number of sample was 26 students in class 7.3. The data was obtained by using translate words and matching words. The findings of research were the mean score of the students development to their vocabulary was 5.85 in Pre-test and become 6.73 in Post-test. The students development their vocabulary is 15.23% It is supported by the value of t-test that is bigger than the value of t-table (2.226>2.059). Therefore, the Alternative was accepted and Null Hypothesis was rejected. Based on the result analysis, the researcher concludes that Using Baby Bus YouTube is Enhance students’ vocabulary to the seventh grade of SMPN 1Timggimoncong, Gowa. It implies that the Baby Bus YouTube videos are affective to improve the students’ vocabulary
