Abstract

This study aims to describe teacher strategies in addressing students’ learning discipline problems in the subject of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) in Grade II at SDK Don Bosco 4 Kupang, as well as to identify the impact of implementing these strategies on students’ learning behavior. Learning discipline is an important factor in supporting the success of the learning process, particularly for lower-grade elementary school students who still require intensive guidance. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations of the learning process, interviews with one Grade II teacher and two students, and documentation in the form of school regulations and learning materials. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that teachers implemented various strategies, including providing role models, establishing and enforcing classroom rules, giving positive reinforcement, and habituating orderly behavior. The implementation of these strategies had a positive impact on improving students’ learning discipline, although some students were still inconsistent in applying them.

Abstract

Teachers’ Strategies in Addressing Bullying among Fifth Grade Students at Catholic Elementary School Don Bosko 4 Kupang. Undergraduate Thesis. Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Citra Bangsa Kupang. This study was motivated by the continued occurrence of bullying behavior among fifth grade students at Catholic Elementary School Don Bosko 4 Kupang, which negatively affects students’ psychological, social, and academic development and disrupts the learning process in the classroom. The study aimed to describe teachers’ strategies in addressing bullying and to explain the efforts made by teachers in creating a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment for students. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving the principal, classroom teachers, and fifth grade students as research subjects. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that forms of bullying included verbal bullying such as mocking, insulting, calling students by harsh nicknames, and making unfounded accusations, as well as nonverbal bullying in the form of physical actions such as pushing, hitting, pulling clothes, and taking classmates’ belongings. Teachers’ strategies were implemented through direct intervention, educational approaches based on moral values and empathy, the establishment of positive classroom rules, role modeling, and collaboration with parents and the school. The study concludes that teachers’ strategies play an important role in reducing bullying and supporting students’ socio-emotional development in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Bani, Mersi. 2025. The Effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Learning Model Assisted by Sort Card Media on Students' Learning Interest in Civics Education Subject in Grade II SDI Sikumana 3 Kupang. Thesis, Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Citra Bangsa University Kupang. Supervisor : 1. Kristina E. Noya Nahak, S.Pd., M.Pd : Supervisor 2. Heryon B. Mbuik, S.PAK., M.Pd. This research aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model assisted by Sort Card media on students' learning interest in Civics Education subject in grade II at SDI Sikumana 3 Kupang. The background of this research is the low learning interest of students in Civics Education learning caused by the use of conventional teaching methods that are less attractive and the lack of variety in interactive learning media. This research employs a quantitative method with a Quasi Experimental Design using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population consisted of all second-grade students at SDI Sikumana 3 Kupang, totaling 50 students, with a research sample of 50 students consisting of class II C as the experimental class (25 students) and class II D as the control class (25 students). The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The data collection instrument used a learning interest questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques included normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using Independent Sample t-test. The research results show that: there is a significant difference between the learning interest of students who use the CTL learning model assisted by Sort Card media and students who use conventional learning, the average learning interest score of experimental class students is higher than the control class, and based on the Independent Sample t-test, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, which means there is a significant effect of the CTL learning model assisted by Sort Card media on students' learning interest in Civics Education subject in grade II at SDI Sikumana 3 Kupang. Therefore, the CTL learning model assisted by Sort Card media is effective in increasing students' learning interest because it is able to create contextual, interesting, interactive, and enjoyable learning.
