Abstract

Abstract

Economic stability and banking efficiency, responding to the strategic discourse of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance as outlined in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 70 of 2025. The main objective of this study is to analyse the determinants of redenomination success through a synthesis of the economic theories of Signalling, Menu Costs, and Money Illusion, as well as to fill the research gap related to the integration of this policy with Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Using a systematic Narrative Review methodology, this study synthesises data from eight countries with extreme results: Turkey, Brazil, and Poland (successful); Ghana and Sierra Leone (mixed/risk); and Zimbabwe, Venezuela, and North Korea (total failure). The analysis shows that redenomination only succeeds in improving banking technical efficiency and lowering inflation expectations when implemented after macroeconomic stabilisation, not as a crisis solution. The main finding of this study is the empirical validation that "virtual" transition mechanisms, such as the Unit of Real Value (URV) in Brazil, can be adopted through the concept of "Digitalise Redenomination" using the Digital Rupiah in Indonesia to mitigate money illusion and menu costs.

Abstract

Education and age are two demographic factors that are believed to have an influence on individuals' economic conditions, including their purchasing power. Understanding the relationship between these variables is important in designing effective economic policies. The purpose of this study is to see how age and education level impact people's purchasing power in Indonesia. Purchasing power, which can be affected by demographic factors such as age and educational background, is an important indicator of a person's economic well-being. This study employs quantitative techniques using multiple linear regression analysis using cross-sectional data from 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2021. Secondary data sources include the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and other relevant sources. The results showed that, with a coefficient of 0.352, education level has a positive and significant influence on purchasing power. This shows that the higher a person's level of education, the greater their ability to purchase goods and services. On the other hand, the age variable does not have a significant influence on purchasing power, but the productive age group of 25 to 55 years old seems to have better wealth. This result can be used by the government to increase people's purchasing power by making economic policies and programmes to increase access to education.

Abstract

A Foreign exchange reserves are a vital instrument in maintaining Indonesia's macroeconomic stability, particularly in mitigating external turmoil and stabilizing the rupiah exchange rate. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves position for the period from January 2022 to August 2025 using the Error Correction Model (ECM) method. Independent variables used include the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar (IDR/$), and the policy rate (BI Rate). Data was obtained from the publication of Indonesian Economic and Financial Statistics (SEKI) of Bank Indonesia. The results of the Dickey-Fuller Augmented Stationarity test showed that all variables were stationary at the first difference, while the Engle-Granger co-integration test confirmed the existence of a long-term relationship between the variables. The results of the estimation indicate that, in the long term, no variables have a significant impact on foreign exchange reserves. However, in the short term, the exchange rate has a positive and significant influence, while the policy rate has a negative and significant effect on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves. A value speed of adjustment indicates that short-term imbalances are corrected towards long-term equilibrium each month, indicating a swift adjustment mechanism.

Abstract

Background: Using bioethanol as an oxygenate additive in gasoline shows an increasing trend driven by the need for renewable fuels and efforts to mitigate exhaust emissions. Purpose: This study aims to conduct a critical and comprehensive synthesis of the positive and negative impacts of ethanol addition, focusing on engine performance, exhaust emissions, and material compatibility. Design/methodology/approach: The method used was a systematic literature review of primary scientific journals indexed by Scopus and SINTA. Findings: The analysis results show a dualism of impacts: on the one hand, adding ethanol consistently increases engine torque and power and significantly reduces carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions. On the other hand, this is offset by the potential for increased fuel consumption due to the lower energy density of ethanol, ambiguous effects on nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, and the emergence of serious challenges related to corrosion of metal components and degradation of elastomer materials. Implication: These findings imply that adopting ethanol blends requires a holistic approach, including engine design optimization and improved material specifications in fuel systems to ensure long-term durability and safety. Abstract

Background: Indonesia faces a paradoxical development phenomenon: intense and persistent economic growth, high child poverty rates, and stunting prevalence. The government initiated the Free Nutritious Meals Program (FNMP/ MBG) in response. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the projected multisectoral benefits of the MBG program. The method used is a theoretical qualitative literature review, framed by Human Capital Theory and Justice as Fairness Theory. Design/methodology/approach: A comparative analysis was conducted on school feeding programs in Brazil (PNAE), China (NNIP-RCES), and Japan (Kyūshoku). Findings: The results show that international programs have had a significant impact: PNAE in Brazil has empowered the local farming economy, NNIP-RCES in China has measurably improved academic achievement, and Kyūshoku in Japan has integrated nutrition with character education. Implication: These findings imply that MBG has the potential to be a strategic investment that not only improves nutrition but also enhances educational outcomes, stimulates the local economy, and functions as an instrument of fundamental social justice in Indonesia

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of financial fraud in the digital era demands the development of reliable and efficient detection methods. This study aims to conduct a systematic comparative analysis of the effectiveness and consistency of seven anomaly detection methods on simulated transactional financial data. The methods tested cover a broad spectrum, ranging from Benford's Law, robust statistical methods (based on MAD), supervised machine learning (Logistic Regression and Random Forest), to unsupervised machine learning (K-Means Clustering and Isolation Forest). Using a simulation study based on R software, a dataset with 20,000 transactions was generated, 5% of which were manipulated as fraud with clear scenarios. The analysis results show that almost all methods successfully detected anomalies with a high success rate. Supervised models, such as Binary Logistic Regression, showed near-perfect performance, while unsupervised methods such as K-Means and Robust Distance (MAD) also showed recall rates above 95%. Although all methods performed well, there were differences in the trade-off between recall and false positives, underscoring the importance of choosing a method that suits business objectives. This study concludes that a layered approach that combines statistical screening with advanced machine learning models is the most comprehensive approach to fraud mitigation

Abstract

Amidst the global discourse on democratic regression, the state of democracy in Indonesia post-reform continues to show complex dynamics. This study will conduct a longitudinal comparative analysis of the Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) and its three components—Freedom, Equality, and Capacity of Democratic Institutions from 2021 to 2024 in 34 provinces. Given that the data is not normally distributed based on the Shapiro-Wilk test, the methodology used is the Friedman nonparametric test, followed by the Durbin-Conover post-hoc test for paired comparisons. The results show a statistically significant increase in the composite IDI score (χ2=15.8, p=0.001), the Equality aspect (χ2=21.5, p<0.001), and the Capacity of Democratic Institutions aspect (χ2=29.9, p<0.001) during the observation period. However, a crucial finding shows no statistically significant change in the Freedom aspect (χ2=6.53, p=0.089). This study argues that statistical improvements in several aspects likely reflect procedural and administrative progress driven by government policies. However, this progress can potentially obscure the reality of a more complex and sometimes contradictory substantive democracy, particularly in civil liberties and institutional integrity.
