Abstract

Background: Enhanced Recovery After Caesarean Surgery (ERACS) has evolved as a comprehensive perioperative care protocol to optimise patient recovery and reduce length of hospitalisation. Although individual studies show promising results, there has been no comprehensive meta-analysis of the effectiveness of ERACS on length of stay with a homogeneous methodology. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the ERACS protocol compared to conventional treatment on the length of hospitalisation through a systematic review and meta-analysis Method: A Systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines for studies that compared ERACS with conventional treatment in the section caesarea. Meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model with the Jamovi software ESCI package. Heterogeneity was assessed using I² statistics, and sensitivity analysis was performed to test the robustness of the results. Results: Meta-analysis of 6 studies with a total of 820 subjects showed that the ERACS protocol significantly reduced the length of hospitalisation with a weighted mean difference of -21.6 hours (95% CI: -28.3 to -14.9, p = 0.001). Despite the high heterogeneity (I² = 99.5%), all studies showed consistent directional effects in favour of ERACS with a p-value of < 0.05 in all individual studies. Conclusion: Implementing the ERACS protocol provides significant clinical benefits in reducing the length of hospitalisation by almost 1 day compared to conventional treatment, with important implications for healthcare efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Abstract

Estimating normal distribution parameters is one of the fundamental problems in statistics that has attracted the attention of researchers for more than two centuries. This study aims to analyse and compare the performance of six normal distribution parameter estimation methods, which include Method of Moments (MoM), Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Least Squares Estimation (LSE), Bayesian Estimation, Percentile Matching, and Generalised Method of Moments (GMM), through a systematic and comprehensive approach. The methodology of this study combines rigorous theoretical mathematical derivation for each estimation method with empirical evaluation through extensive Monte Carlo simulations. Each method was derived mathematically from the basic principle to the final estimator formula, then implemented in a simulation with 500 replications on various sample sizes, i.e. n = 30, 50, 100, and 200, of the normal distribution of N (5, 4). In small samples with n = 30, Percentile Matching showed the highest MSE for   parameter estimation with a value of 0.162, while MoM, MLE, and LSE showed the best performance with MSE for μ parameter of 0.127 and MSE for parameter 0.067. The main conclusions of this study show that MLE provides an optimal balance between statistical accuracy and computational efficiency for most practical applications. Bayesian Estimation shows good stability at all sample sizes and is superior when informative prior information is available.

Abstract

Economic inequality remains one of the most persistent challenges faced by Indonesia as a developing country. Previous studies have predominantly employed conventional models such as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) or Panel Least Squares. However, these models are often inappropriate, as they fail to account for the bounded nature of inequality indices such as the Gini ratio, which ranges between 0 and 1. Beta regression offers a more appropriate alternative. In the context of panel data, Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) and Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE) are commonly used to handle correlated data; however, their integration with nonlinear models for longitudinal Beta-distributed responses remains limited. This study proposes a novel GLMM-GEE-Tree modeling approach for Beta-distributed response data. The proposed model combines GLMM (to capture individual random effects), GEE (to handle temporal correlation and provide robust marginal estimates), and Regression Trees (to address nonlinear relationships and complex interactions). The aim is to simultaneously tackle the challenges of proportional responses, panel structure, random effects, correlation, and nonlinearity. Empirical validation uses Gini ratio data from 34 Indonesian provinces spanning 2018 to 2024. The findings reveal that in this empirical data, the GLMM-GEE-Tree model outperforms alternative models, achieving an R² of 0.472 and a QIC of 13.435 and yielding the lowest AIC and BIC values.

Abstract

The transition to sustainable development is a crucial agenda for Indonesia in achieving its 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision. The government has developed a series of composite indices to measure progress and identify challenges. This paper presents a systematic literature review of four major sustainability indices in Indonesia: the Green Economy Index (GEI), the Indonesian Blue Economy Index (IBEI), the Environmental Quality Index (EQI), and the Regional Competitiveness Index (RCI). Using a literature review method that synthesizes government reports, official publications, and academic journals, this study analyzes each index's conceptual framework, methodology, and key findings. The results of the analysis reveal a complex and sometimes contradictory narrative. On the one hand, the GEI shows a trend of progress driven by improvements in the socio-economic pillar. On the other hand, the environmental pillar is consistently the weakest, and the EQI shows volatility in marine water quality (MWQ), indicating a gap between blue economy ambitions and the reality of ecosystem health. Furthermore, the IBEI has a relatively low initial national score (43.98). Meanwhile, the RCI highlights sharp regional competitiveness gaps, which have the potential to become structural barriers to the implementation of inclusive sustainable development at the national level.

Abstract

This study examines the reciprocal relationships between the Knowledge Index (KI), the Community Literacy Development Index (CLDI), and the Level of Reading Interest (LRI) across 27 districts/cities in West Java (2024). Using a quantitative design with Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling and a conditional process perspective, we test direct and feedback effects among the three constructs. Descriptive statistics indicate substantial variation in literacy development and reading interest across regions. Model fit indices exceed conventional thresholds, supporting the adequacy of the specified structure. The results show that KI has a significant positive effect on both CLDI and LRI, indicating that accumulated schooling and knowledge capital translate into stronger literacy ecosystems and more active reading behaviors. Conversely, both CLDI and LRI exert significant positive effects on KI, evidencing a reinforcing cycle in which richer literacy environments and higher reading engagement further elevate knowledge attainment. These findings highlight a virtuous, bidirectional dynamic: knowledge deepens literacy and reading, while literacy investment and reading practice amplify knowledge. Policy implications include prioritizing integrated literacy programs across the life course, leveraging digital access, and coordinating libraries, schools, and local governments to simultaneously lift ecosystem quality and individual reading practices. The study provides actionable evidence for place-based literacy policy and human capital formation in emerging regions.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever has a staggering 390 million cases to date and was the predominant virus in 128 countries in 2022. This study aims to determine vaccination safety and response with respect to negative endpoints over time in the cohort. A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed according to the 2020 PRISMA statement. Comprehensive searches were performed for primary open-access articles in the PubMed and Scopus databases from years 2013-2023. Statistical analysis used random effect modelling a pooled relative risk would be calculated for the efficacy of the vaccine using proportional difference methodology, with 960 articles retrieved (10 articles meeting inclusion criteria incorporated 157,345 study participants) data was arrived in a 2023 publication whereby. The findings were as follows: the tetravalent dengue vaccine had an overall pooled efficacy of 64.6% (95% CI 47.4%-76.2%) and I² 94.7%, with TAK-003 being more efficacious (76.8%, 95% CI 60.8%-86.2%) than CYD-TDV (53.6%, 95% CI 28.9%-69.7%) in symptomatic dengue. The dengue vaccine showed promising efficacy and satisfactory immune response, with TAK-003 showing more consistent performance than CYD-TDV, especially in the absence of heterogeneity between studies. Implications: These findings support the implementation of dengue vaccination with preference for the TAK-003 platform, demonstrating better efficacy consistency to maximize benefits and minimize risk..

Abstract

Research on competence and its effect on performance and job satisfaction is relatively rare. Included that is still rarely done is research on the effect of competence according to PerMenPANRB Number 38 of 2017 on performance and job satisfaction. This study also analyzes the effect of competence on ASN job satisfaction and places job satisfaction as a mediating variable of competence on ASN performance. Respondents in this study were PPSDM employees of the Ministry of Finance. The results showed that managerial competence had a direct and significant effect on work goals and performance of PPSDM employees. Work objectives have no direct and not significant positive effect on employee performance. In addition, activities do not mediate the effect on employee performance.

Abstract

Law enforcement of corruption crimes in Indonesia faces a fundamental paradox between the demands of integrity and the need for public officials' discretionary flexibility. The phenomenon of "policy criminalization" has created profound legal ambiguity, blurring the boundaries between business risk, maladministration, and malicious intent (mens rea). This study aims to deconstruct the application of the doctrine of Business Judgment Rule (BJR) and analyze the psychological mechanisms of moral disengagement that underlie the behavior of public officials and the cognitive biases of Law enforcement officials. Using qualitative methods, this study examines four landmark cases: Karen Agustiawan (Pertamina), Dahlan Iskan (PT PWU), Tom Lembong (Sugar Import), and Ira Puspadewi (ASDP). The study's findings reveal extreme judicial inconsistencies. Although the Supreme Court once recognized the BJR (Karen 2020 & Dahlan 2019 cases), the recent trend of 2025 in the cases of Tom Lembong and Ira Puspadewi shows a return to the rigid positivistic approach that criminalizes policies without evidence of personal gain (kickback), which then triggers executive intervention through the granting of Abolition and Rehabilitation by the President. Compared with the standards of proof in Indonesia, the doctrine of Misconduct in Public Office in the United Kingdom or the Official Act in the United States is much stricter. This study recommends explicit codification of BJR and reform of mens rea proof that requires real psychological indicators of malicious intent.

Abstract

Introduction: This study presents a Systematic Literature Review to evaluate the medical validity of pre-conception interventions and environmental factors claimed to influence the secondary sex ratio (SSR). Amidst the persistence of popular but controversial sex selection methods, alongside strong cultural preferences for certain genders in various Indonesian ethnic groups, there is a clinical urgency to separate myth from valid biological mechanisms. Methods: Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a comprehensive search of the PubMed and Scopus databases filtered 1,495 articles into 25 high-quality primary studies. The analysis focused on the validity of methods involving timing of sexual intercourse, physical position, dietary manipulation, vaginal pH environment, and the impact of parental stress. Results: The synthesis of evidence shows no empirical support for the effectiveness of timing coitus or sleeping on one's side in influencing sex. Conversely, the data support a variant of the Trivers-Willard Hypothesis, in which high maternal energy status correlates with male births, while chronic maternal stress and paternal toxic exposure suppress the ratio. Paradoxical findings emerge regarding paternal stress, where paternal anxiety correlates with increased male births. Conclusion: This report provides an evidence base for practitioners to deliver ethical, science-based pre-conception education.

Abstract

Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) is a fundamental statistical method in experimental research, but it often faces violations of parametric assumptions that can compromise the validity of statistical inferences. This study aims to evaluate the relative performance of various alternative nonparametric ANCOVA methods through simulation. The simulation study generated a dataset of 75 observations (25 per group) using normal, gamma, and lognormal distributions to simulate violations of normality and homoskedasticity assumptions. Seven alternative methods were evaluated: Quade ANCOVA, ANCOVA Rank Transformation, Aligned Rank Transform, van Elteren Test, NANCOVA Resampling, ANCOVA Permutation, and ANCOVA Bootstrap. Assumption testing revealed significant violations of residual normality and homoskedasticity, while homogeneity of slopes was met. ANCOVA's Rank Transformation yields an F-statistic of 54.54 (p
