Abstract

As the development of villages becomes more complex, community participation is considered an important factor for the success of rural development programs. However, the lack of community participation is an obstacle in village development. A strategy from the village government is needed to increase community participation in development. This study aims to determine the Tepisari Village government's strategy in increasing community participation in development programs. The research method used in this research uses a qualitative approach with a case study in Tepisari Village. The data analysis technique in this research uses three stages data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research was analyzed using Geoff Mulgan's theory of government strategy. The results obtained from this study indicate that the Tepisari Village government's strategy in increasing community participation in village development programs has been running as planned. Some of the strategies used include openness, closeness between the village government and the community, improving human resources, and involving community aspirations in planning, implementing, and evaluating the village development process. However, there are several obstacles, namely related to the budget and the limited participation of people who work overseas.

Abstract

Local wisdom is an identity inherent in Indonesian society. This research aims to determine the obstacles and strategies for maintaining the local wisdom of craft arts among shadow puppet craftsmen. The approach in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The research location was carried out in Sonorejo Village, Sukoharjo Regency. The results of the research show that the existence of obstacles encourages craftsmen to strive for strategies to preserve local wisdom in the form of wayang kulit. These obstacles come in the form of economic factors and the declining interest of the younger generation. Then, craftsmen carry out strategies to overcome these obstacles by introducing shadow puppetry as early as possible, joining organizations and communities, establishing puppet studios, and finding out trends in interest. The rational choice theory perspective proposed by James Coleman contains two micro elements, namely actors and resources. Thus, the dynamics of the regeneration decisions of shadow puppet craftsmen in Sonorejo Village are influenced by various factors so that shadow puppet craftsmen strive to maintain regeneration by adjusting the economic situation.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a problem that often occurs within the scope of educational units. Children also often get bullying treatment that can damage their mentality. The government provides a solution to this problem by creating a Child Friendly School policy. This program, which is located in formal, non-formal and informal education units, aims to create conditions that are safe, healthy, clean and can guarantee and fulfill children's rights. There is a guarantee in protecting children from violence, discrimination or treatment that endangers children and participating in providing the best service. Child Friendly Schools are a means for students to learn, develop and increase their learning motivation and self-confidence. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of Student Behavior Study of Child Friendly School Implementation at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The focus of this research is on the objectives of the Child Friendly School program, the policies implemented and the reality of its implementation. Data collection techniques of this research through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Abstract

The public sphere serves as a platform where individuals can openly and fairly share ideas and knowledge without the influence of particular authorities, fostering democratic discussions. Today, social media holds the potential to create a public sphere for its users, functioning not only as a channel for information exchange but also as a platform for social advocacy on global issues. TikTok, a popular social media among Generation Z, provides a space for their engagement in global issues, including the Palestinian solidarity movement. The involvement of Generation Z in TikTok allows them to access and voice their perspectives on global matters, making this platform a public sphere that supports social participation and advocacy on an international level. This study employs qualitative phenomenology with Jürgen Habermas’ public sphere theory to analyze how TikTok forms a public sphere. The study aims to understand why Generation Z uses TikTok as a medium for social advocacy, specifically in supporting Palestinian solidarity. Findings indicate that TikTok functions as a public sphere aligned with Habermas' theory, effectively providing Generation Z with a space for expressing support for Palestine. TikTok's characteristics enable open interaction and participation, meeting Generation Z’s need for engagement in global issues and active social advocacy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine efforts to improve skills and family welfare through training in Gentungan Village, Mojogedang District, Karanganyar Regency. Kokedama skill is a technique for planting ornamental plants using coconut fiber originating from Japan. This kokedama technique can be done by many people because of the use of materials that are easily available. Gentungan Village has its own charm with abundant natural resources. This kokedama skills training aims as one of the community empowerment efforts in utilizing local potential. This program is held using the community empowerment method, starting from field surveys, program preparation, coordination with stakeholders, program implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of kokedama training held at the Farmhouse with resource persons was enthusiastically received by local residents. The results showed that increased creativity and skills have opened up new business opportunities for the people of Gentungan Village. In addition, this kokedama training can be one of the efforts in developing and empowering local tourism potential as well as preserving the environment.

Abstract

This article aims to examine acts of indiscipline among students at SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo by exploring their causes and effects, and identifying effective control strategies based on social control theory. Utilizing a qualitative methodology within a case study approach, the data for this article were obtained through observation and structured interviews with sociology teachers, the principal, and other supporting informants. The findings indicate that student indiscipline is influenced by a variety of factors, including self-awareness, the family and school environments, and social interactions. The acts of indiscipline encompass a range of behaviors, from truancy to non-compliance with school rules. Moreover, the implemented control strategies, which emphasize the development of strong social bonds between students and their environment, have proven effective in reducing incidents of indiscipline. The study concludes that strengthening social bonds through attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief is essential in preventing and controlling indiscipline among students. It highlights the significance of active roles for teachers and school authorities in the processes of character building and discipline. Abstrak Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tindakan indisipliner di kalangan siswa SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo, menyelidiki penyebab dan dampaknya, serta mengidentifikasi strategi pengendalian yang efektif berdasarkan teori kontrol sosial. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, data dalam artikel ini diperoleh melalu observasi dan wawancara terstruktur dengan guru sosiologi, kepala sekolah, dan narasumber pendukung lainnya. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa perilaku indisipliner siswa dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk kesadaran diri, lingkungan keluarga dan sekolah, serta pergaulan. Tindakan indisipliner siswa mencakup berbagai perilaku, dari membolos hingga tidak mengikuti aturan sekolah. Lebih lanjut, strategi pengendalian yang diterapkan, yang menekankan pada pembangunan ikatan sosial yang kuat antara siswa dengan lingkungannya, terbukti efektif dalam mengurangi insiden perilaku indisipliner. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan ikatan sosial, melalui kelekatan, komitmen, keterlibatan, dan kepercayaan, merupakan kunci utama dalam mencegah dan mengendalikan tindakan indisipliner di kalangan siswa, serta pentingnya peran aktif guru dan pihak sekolah dalam proses pembinaan karakter dan disiplin siswa.

Abstract

The stunting rate in Magelang district reached 28.20% in 2022, requiring cooperation between stakeholders in handling the case. This research was conducted to examine the role of the Magelang district government s social network in preventing stunting. Qualitative research method with descriptive analytic approach was used by the researcher in studying the topic. The results showed that stunting is a complex problem so the district government formed a social network to prevent this problem from becoming more severe. The social network consists of several elements, namely PLKB Sawangan, Puskesmas, KUA, and GenRe Ambassadors. The social network formed is considered good based on Marx Granovetter s social network theory because it has norms, network density, embeddedness, and network holes so that stunting prevention efforts through this social network are effective. The role of the network is collectively implemented through the gothong sakcething program or the government movement in preventing stunting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of Merdeka Belajar as a national education program for high school teachers nationally. Teachers’ problem in implementing Merdeka Belajar (Freedom of Learning) curriculum lacks understanding of the procedures. This happened because there was no structural explanation regarding the differences between the curriculum they had been running so far and Merdeka Belajar curriculum. Many problems arise when implementing the curriculum that the education they have been running has made students dependent. In this context, this study questions how high school sociology teachers’ opportunities and challenges in facing Merdeka Belajar curriculum in the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0)? This study aims to identify problems and strategies for teachers in facing the new paradigm of Merdeka Belajar. This study’s analysis is based on theories such as those from Neill, Rogers, Freire, Boal, Giroux, and Knowles to critically analyze the pedagogical paradigm of national education that teachers have used. This study uses Knowles’s theory of andragogy to explore the notion of Merdeka Belajar. This study’s qualitative research method includes observation of the teacher-student relationship and interviews with several high school teachers in Karanganyar, Central Java. Besides, document studies related to Merdeka Belajar program are also used to understand the policy context. This study found that teachers did not realize that they had been using a pedagogical paradigm (education for children) for high school-level children who had grown up. When they switched to Merdeka Belajar curriculum, they also did not know that the paradigm they should be using is andragogy (education for adults). In this situation, they improvised as best they could to implement Merdeka Belajar. The teachers only carry out orders from the school. However, the school is still trying to understand how it works based on structural orders without clarity. Students’ dependence on teachers has become the cause of teachers’ difficulty to move out of the pedagogical paradigm into andragogy. In this situation, the teachers tried to do their best to implement Merdeka Belajar program during the Covid-19 pandemic. Teachers and schools must also face all infrastructural barriers and socioeconomic conditions with limited online learning access.

Abstract

Temanggung robusta coffee is a potential plantation commodity in Central Java that has existed since the colonial era. Its development has gone through various policies, both from the top down and bottom up. This research was based on empirical facts and phenomena on the development of Temanggung robusta coffee. The researchers conducted participatory observations, discussions, and in-depth interviews with 15 informants. Data analysis was done through a socio-historical and descriptive approach to accurately understand the evidence, history, and correlations between phenomena. This study’s results prove that the transformation stage of Temanggung robusta coffee began in the era of forced cultivation of “Koffie Stelsel” through patron-client relationships. This development continues to experience socio-cultural shifts with a variety of different policies. Currently, three sectors are the main players in Temanggung robusta coffee (government, large private plantations, and the community). The factors causing the success of Temanggung coffee not to be achieved are 1) the large area of land but low productivity; 2) the process of randomly picking coffee; 3) policies that are not yet optimal; 4) minimal market share; 5) the capacity of extension agents in the coffee commodity is still low; 6) lack of cooperation between stakeholders.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang sering dihadapi dalam dunia kontruksi pada saat ini yaitu pada tahap pelaksanaan sering terjadi perubahan yang mengakibatkan keterlambatan penyelesaian, sehingga waktu penyelesaian proyek tidak sesuai dengan waktu perencanaan awal proyek tersebut. Oleh karena itu percepatan penting untuk dilakukan untuk mengatasi keterlambatan, analisis yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini dengan mempersingkat waktu pelaksanaan proyek dengan alternatif penambahan 2 jam kerja (lembur) dan sistem cras pada kegiatan-kegiatan kritis yang didapat dari analisi jaringan kerja berupa CPM (Critical Path Methode). Hasil analisis pada proyek pembangunan Gedung serba guna Agros terra land, diketahui total anggaran biaya proyek dalam kondisi sesudah crashing dengan alternatif penambahan jam kerja maksimal selama dua jam didapat sebesar Rp. 2,164,578,282.74 dengan durasi pelaksanaan 67 hari sedangkan pada alternatif shift kerja (shift pagi dan shift malam) total anggaran biaya proyek didapat sebesar Rp. 2,119,552,375.12 dengan durasi pelaksanaaan 42 hari. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menerapkan sistem shift kerja (shift pagi dan shift malam) merupakan alternatif program crashing yang lebih efektif dan ekonomis, karena dengan menerapkan sistem shift kerja durasi lebih cepat dan anggaran total biaya proyek lebih murah.
