Abstract

The increasing frequency and intensity of flooding in Kesambi District, Cirebon City, has caused significant economic losses and disrupted people's lives. This study attempts to manage flood disaster risks through careful planning. By combining spatial data analysis and an associative descriptive approach, this study produces a map of evacuation places and routes that can be relied on to deal with future floods. The results of the study indicate that the potential for flooding in Kesambi District causes extensive damage and has a significant impact on people's lives, especially in Drajat, Kesambi, and Pekiringan Sub-districts. Thousands of residents of Kesambi District are exposed to disaster risks and damage to buildings and infrastructure that hinder mobility and economic activity. Based on the analysis of capacity, travel time, and distance, this study has determined 6 evacuation places that can accommodate the estimated number of evacuees and 40 existing evacuation routes can be safely passed. These six evacuation places are considered strategic because they are close and can be reached in a short time, making it easier for people to immediately carry out independent evacuation when a disaster occurs.

Abstract

In response to global challenges outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this study addresses the urgent need for clean water in Klong Liud Village, Bogor Regency. The village struggles with inadequate water sources due to shallow wells contaminated by sedimentary rocks, forcing reliance on the Cikaniki River, which fails to meet Indonesian water quality standards. This research implements a Simple Water Filtration System to improve local water quality, employing a multi-stage filtration process that includes activated carbon, aquarium filters, and ijuk (palm fiber). The filtration unit was designed with three sequential stages and constructed together with local residents to ensure community participation and practical skill transfer. Post-implementation observations showed clear improvements in water appearance, odor, and acceptability for domestic use, indicating that the system effectively enhanced physical water quality. Methodologically, the project involved a field survey to assess water quality issues, community engagement to ensure local participation, and the construction of a filtration system capable of providing clean water. The evaluation post-implementation confirmed significant improvements, transforming initially polluted water into clean, odorless water suitable for daily use. This study highlights the effectiveness of simple filtration technologies in addressing water quality issues in rural settings and underscores the importance of sustainable solutions in achieving global water accessibility targets.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia's eastern maritime region, despite its immense geostrategic importance, faces persistent defense infrastructure gaps, limited naval presence, and fragmented policy implementation. This study aims to address these challenges by proposing the Hexa-Helix collaboration model as a strategic policy framework for maritime defense reinforcement. Methods: Employing qualitative strategic analysis and literature review, the research elaborates the evolution of innovation collaboration theory from the Triple Helix to a novel Hexa-Helix model tailored to the archipelagic defense context. Findings: Findings indicate that existing maritime defense efforts in Eastern Indonesia are hindered by underdeveloped naval infrastructure, limited local shipbuilding industries, and weak stakeholder integration. The Hexa-Helix model incorporates six key actors: government, navy, academia, industry, society, and media to establish a more inclusive and adaptive defense ecosystem, particularly in high-risk zones such as the Sulu Sea. Conclusion: This study concludes that the Hexa-Helix collaboration model provides an effective governance framework for addressing hybrid maritime threats by integrating defense, innovation, and public engagement across key stakeholders. The model strengthens maritime security and institutional resilience in archipelagic regions facing complex transboundary challenges. Novelty/Originality of this article: The novelty of this study lies in institutionalizing the Navy and media as independent helices, expanding conventional innovation frameworks to address hybrid threats in maritime border areas. The model offers strategic pathways for enhancing Indonesia's maritime sovereignty and fostering sustainable local defense industry growth.

Abstract

The integration of STEM education and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has been widely acknowledged as a practical approach to developing students' scientific competencies. However, empirical findings remain fragmented, particularly regarding the impact of flipbook media on science process skills and learning outcomes. This study aims to systematically review current research on the integration of STEM-based PjBL in science education. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA protocol. Articles were retrieved from Scopus, Google Scholar, and SINTA databases, yielding 45 studies published between 2020 and 2024. Based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria related to relevance, accessibility, and methodological rigor, 15 studies were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings indicate that STEM-integrated PjBL contributes significantly to the development of science process skills, particularly in observation, experimentation, data interpretation, and problem-solving. Several studies also report improvements in students' conceptual understanding and learning outcomes, particularly when flipbook media are used to enhance engagement and structured learning support. Nonetheless, challenges were identified, including students' readiness for project-based tasks and the need for sustained teacher scaffolding. In conclusion, STEM-integrated PjBL supported by flipbook media is a pedagogically robust approach to strengthening science learning. Future studies are recommended to employ more rigorous designs to improve generalizability.

Abstract

The Kemang Batik Association in Bogor Regency is a community-based creative industry with significant cultural and economic potential, however, its sustainability is constrained by untreated batik wastewater, weak financial management, and limited marketing capacity. Batik production activities generate colored liquid waste that is often discharged directly into the environment, posing pollution risks. In addition, the absence of formal cooperative institutions and reliance on conventional marketing methods hinder business growth and income stability among artisans. This community service program aimed to empower the Kemang Batik Association through an integrated approach encompassing environmentally friendly technology, institutional strengthening, and digital marketing. A portable electrocoagulation-based wastewater treatment installation (IPAL) namely Hydrobex, with a capacity of 100 liters per day was implemented to reduce pollutant loads in batik effluent. Furthermore, a Batik Cooperative was established to improve financial governance, collective management, and access to capital. Digital marketing platforms utilizing social media, online marketplaces and batik game based marketing (GARLaTik) were developed to expand market reach and enhance product visibility. The program was conducted through participatory training, technology transfer, mentoring, and continuous evaluation involving academics, students, and community members. The results indicate improved environmental awareness, strengthened organizational capacity, and increased adoption of digital marketing practices. This integrated empowerment model supports sustainable community development, promotes a green economy, and contributes to the achievement of relevant Sustainable Development Goals.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of mental and psychosocial readiness as an integral component of military human resource management within conflict environments, with a particular focus on its legal and policy implications for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 30 peer-reviewed and institutional sources published between 2019 and 2025, this study synthesizes empirical evidence and normative frameworks across five core domains: mental readiness, psychosocial support systems, deployment stress in conflict zones, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) risk, and military mental health governance. The findings demonstrate that soldiers with higher levels of mental preparedness and structured psychosocial support exhibit superior operational performance, ethical decision-making, adaptability, and emotional stability under prolonged stress exposure. Conversely, inadequate mental and psychosocial readiness significantly increases vulnerability to psychological distress, PTSD, operational errors, and long-term institutional burden. From a policy perspective, the study identifies a critical gap between scientific evidence and the existing regulatory framework governing military human resource management in Indonesia, where mental readiness has not yet been explicitly institutionalized as a formal indicator of operational readiness. This article argues that mental and psychosocial readiness must be repositioned from an individual health concern to a legally component of defense governance. Abstract

Background: Retirement represents a critical transitional phase for members of the Indonesian military and civil servants, often accompanied by post-power syndrome and retirement depression, which adversely affect psychological stability, musculoskeletal function, and social participation. This study aimed to empirically analyze the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions based on physical activity combined with psychosocial support in mitigating post power syndrome and retirement depression, while also assessing their alignment with the job demands-resources model and the successful aging theory. Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytical survey involving 200 retired Indonesian military personnel and civil servants (≥1 year post-retirement) selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using structured Likert-scale questionnaires covering physiotherapy interventions, post-power syndrome symptoms, and mental health indicators. Validity and reliability were confirmed through pilot testing. Data were analyzed using structural equation modelling with partial least squares (SEM-PLS 4) to assess relationships and model fit through outer and inner model evaluations. Results: The results indicate that all constructs met the criteria for validity and reliability (outer loading > 0.70; AVE > 0.50; CR > 0.80; HTMT < 0.85). Physiotherapy interventions demonstrated a significant effect in reducing PPS (β = -0.62; t = 8.522; p < 0.001) and retirement depression (β = -0.67; t = 7.274; p < 0.001), with musculoskeletal function and physical activity engagement acting as significant partial mediators (t = 5.275; p < 0.001). These findings affirmed that integrated physiotherapy interventions enhance retirees’ physical resilience and psychosocial well-being, while also holding strategic relevance for national health policies and strengthening the role of retirees as supportive components within the national defense and security system. Conclusion: This research contributes to advancing physical and mental well-being among the elderly through integrated physiotherapy interventions; however, its cross-sectional design presents a limitation, suggesting future studies adopt longitudinal approaches with broader contextual variables.
