Abstract

Abstract

The increasing intensity of digital technology use has raised concerns about its impact on the social development of the younger generation. This study focused on analyzing the causal relationship between the frequency of social media use and social interaction skills among Vocational High School (SMK) students in urban areas. An observational analytical study with a prospective cohort study design was conducted at SMK Teknologi Abadi, Central Jakarta, from January to May 2025. A total of 105 eleventh-grade students were involved in this study, selected using a stratified random sampling method based on major. Data were collected through social media usage time logs (obtained through a third-party application) and the standard Social Skills Rating System (SSRS) questionnaire. Data were processed using IBM SPSS software version 26.0, including binary logistic regression analysis and odds ratio tests with a significance level of $p < 0.05$. The study findings showed that the majority of students (72.4%) recorded social media use above the normal limit (more than 3 hours per day), and 65.7% of them were categorized as having low social interaction skills. Statistical analysis proved a significant and strong association between excessive social media use and low social interaction skills ($OR = 2.85; p = 0.003$), meaning students who spend more time on social media are 2.85 times more likely to experience a decline in their ability to interact face-to-face. In conclusion, excessive social media use has a clear negative impact on the quality of adolescents' social interactions, underscoring the urgency of digital literacy education and strengthening offline social activities in schools.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls and may negatively affect physical health, concentration, and future reproductive health. Aim: This study aimed to analyze the effect of pharmacist intervention on hemoglobin levels, knowledge, and attitudes of adolescent girls in preventing anemia in Ujung Batu District, North Padang Lawas Regency. Methods:  A comparative experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted from October to November 2024. A total of 80 adolescent girls with anemia were selected using purposive sampling from junior high schools and Islamic boarding schools in Ujung Batu District. The intervention consisted of pharmacist-led education, counseling, and administration of iron supplementation tablets. Hemoglobin levels were measured using HemoCue Hb 301, while knowledge and attitudes were assessed using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Result: The results showed significant improvements after the intervention. Mean hemoglobin levels increased from 10.82 ± 0.49 g/dL to 13.35 ± 0.63 g/dL, knowledge scores increased from 44.75 ± 7.95 to 79.25 ± 7.50, and attitude scores increased from 67.23 ± 6.56 to 83.01 ± 5.12, with all variables showing statistical significance (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Pharmacist intervention was effective in improving hemoglobin levels, knowledge, and attitudes of adolescent girls regarding anemia prevention.

Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis through droplets from patients diagnosed with TB. Based on the Global TB Report 2024, WHO reported that Indonesia ranks second in the world, where 81% of cases were confirmed and 90% of them had received treatment, where there was an increase in the number of cases compared to 2023 with 77% of confirmed cases and 88% of them received treatment. The increase in the number of pulmonary TB cases is inseparable from factors that determine the transmission of M. tb such as the concentration of organisms in the air related to ventilation and the length of time a person inhales contaminated air. To determine the relationship between ventilation conditions and home lighting to the incidence of pulmonary TB in the working area of the Glugur Darat Health Center in 2025 This study is an analytical study with a cross-sectional study design. Sample selection used the consecutive sampling method with 56 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Of the 56 people who met the criteria, 30 people (53.6%) were pulmonary TB sufferers and 26 people (46.4%) were not pulmonary TB sufferers. The majority of respondents were male (38 people) and the highest number was found in the 18-59 age range (48 people) (85.7%). Regarding ventilation conditions, 34 people (60.7%) did not meet adequate ventilation requirements, and 29 homes (51.8%) did not meet adequate lighting requirements. There was a relationship between ventilation conditions and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the Glugur Darat Community Health Center work area, but there was no relationship between home lighting and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the Glugur Darat Community Health Center work area.
