Abstract

Nets are a simple fishing tool which principally confines fish so they cannot escape. The mesh sizes that are often used by the people of Kerinci Lake are the mesh sizes of 2.5 inches and 4.5 inches. The research objective was to compare the catch of jala lempar with mesh sizes of 2.5 inches and 4.5 inches in Kerinci Lake. The method used is the experimental fishing method by catching 16 trips. The results showed that the catch of jala lempar with a mesh size of 2.5 inches got a catch with a weight of 53.930 kg and a total of 266 fish, while a 4.5 inch mesh size obtained a catch with a weight of 33.844 kg and a total of 51 fish. the type of fish that you get is tilapia and barau. The use of different mesh sizes on the Net fishing gear shows a significant difference (P <0.05) to the weight of the catch, at mesh size 2.5 inch, with an average catch weight of 3.371 kg while the mesh size is 4.5 inches. obtained an average catch weight of 2.111 kg. Based on this research, it can be concluded that using a 2.5 inch mesh size results in more catch than 4.5 inches in size.

Abstract

Sunu grouper fish belongs to the Seranidae family whose pattern of reproduction is anti hermaphrodite protogyny, which is the gonad as an organ that changes the transition from the female to male phase. The aims of this research is to study the growth pattern of Sunu grouper fish and find out the total of female Sunu grouper or male Sunu grouper that caught a lot. This research was conducted at the Port of Kurau Coastal Fisheries, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province from February to March 2020 using a survey method. The results showed that the catch of tiger grouper fish reached 399,94 kg, consist of 283,44 kg or 581 female fish species and 116,50 kg or 69 fish according to male sex. The total number of fish caught during the study was 650 fish with the growth pattern is allometric positif. The results also showed a coefficient of determination (R2) of female groupers 0.938 and a value of determination (R2) of 0.701 in male groupers. Based on the results of research that has been done can conclude the growth pattern of female Sunu grouper is allometric positif with value 3,09 and the growth pattern of male Sunu grouper is allometric positif with value 3,87. The total of Sunu grouper fish catch along research is about 650 fish consist of 581 female grouper fish and 69 male grouper fish.

Abstract

Fishermen in the waters of Sadai Village mostly use the Bagan tancap by catching using different colors of lights. The study aimed to determine the effect of light colors (white, red, yellow, green, and blue) on the Bagan tancap fishing gear on catches in the waters of Sadai Village, South Bangka Regency. This research was conducted on April 28 - May 28 2022 in the waters of Sadai Village, South Bangka Regency. The method used is an experimental method using a randomized block design (RBD) and Duncan's further test. The data collected includes the type of catch, the total weight of the catch, the number of catches, and environmental parameters. The results showed that the treatment of different light colors affected the number (fish) and weight (kg) of the catches on the Bagan tancap. The composition of the catch on the Bagan tancap for the species caught is squid (Loligo sp) and Curvespine cuttlefish (Sepia recurvirostra) which are the main catch (HTU) while Starry triggerfish (Abalistes stellaris), mackerel (Rastrelliger brachysoma), Yellowtail scad (Atule mate), and Doublewhip threadfin bream (Nemipterus nematophorus) are by-catch. Based on the results, it can be concluded that blue light is a good color for catches in the form of number (fish) and weight (kg) on the Bagan tancap fishing gear.

Abstract

Sadu District is located in East Tanjung Jabung Regency and consists of 9 villages, one of which is Sungai Jambat Village which is characterized by turbid, wavy, muddy, and sandy waters. The majority of fishermen in Sungai Jambat Village use bottom gillnet fishing gear with a mesh size of 3.5 inches and 4 inches. The purpose of this study was to compare the catches of bottom gillnet with mesh sizes of 3.5 inches and 4 inches in the waters of Sungai Jambat Village. The method used in this research is the experimental fishing method. The data collected includes environmental parameters, catch per species (head), and number of catches (head), weight per species (kg), and the total weight of catch (kg). The data analysis used is the descriptive analysis of an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the 3.5-inch mesh treatment was significantly higher than the 4-inch mesh treatment (p<0.05) in terms of the number and weight of bottom gillnet catches. In the 3.5-inch mesh size, the catch was 3,067 individuals with a weight of 248.40 kg, and the number of catches in the 4-inch mesh size was 2,820 individuals with a weight of 234.60 kg. The highest number of catches was leaftail croaker found in a 3.5-inch mesh size of 1,393 individuals, and mantis shrimp was the heaviest catch in a 3.5-inch mesh size weighing 69 kg. Pomfret is the lowest catch in terms of quantity and weight. The conclusion of this study in terms of the number and weight of catches with a 3.5-inch mesh size is higher than the 4-inch mesh size.

Abstract

Using small mesh sizes on sein net in Lake Maninjau may lead to overexploitation. Research assessing selectivity of this fishing gear in this area is not conducted yet. Thus, this research aims to determine selectivity of seine net fishing gear operated in Lake Maninjau, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. There were seven units of seine net with 5 mesh sizes connected mesh sizes measuring 1.5 inches, 2 inches, 2.5 inches, 3 inches, to 3.5 inches that were assessed in this study. The results revealed that more than five species of fish were caught with various sizes, namely Tilapia (Orheochromis niloticus), Betutu (Oxyeleotris marmorata), Louhan (Amphilophus trimaculatus), Patin (Pangasius sp), and Sapu-sapu (Hypostomus plecostomus). Considering minimum landing size, 1,021 (82%) catch of Tilapia are suitable for catching meanwhile 231 (18%) are under minimum size for catch.
