Abstract

Introduction: An understanding of supportive care needs is essential to achieve good quality care for women with breast cancer. This concept defines the needs of cancer patients in relation to the physical, emotional, psychological, social, informational and spiritual domains since the start of their journey through diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, palliative care and the grief process. Methods: This study was conducted to explore the unmet supportive care needs of women with breast cancer. Databases were searched in the journals using pre-determined keywords such as ‘supportive care needs’, ‘breast cancer’ and ‘woman’. The databases used were Scopus, Pro Quest, Science Direct and EBSCO. The search was limited to journals published in the period 2014-2020. Out of the 189 nursing journals initially found, 16 journals were selected that met all of the eligibility criteria. Eight studies used a cross-sectional design. Results: Most of the breast cancer patients were in the post-diagnosis phase and had survived. More than 50% of the journals reported that the needs of breast cancer women were going unmet. The predictors of a higher level of need among the breast cancer patients are age, social support and information. The most prevalent unmet needs among the women with breast cancer were found to be in the health system and related to information. Conclusion: Future research should focus on improving the education and psychological support programs available to provide for the unmet supportive care needs of patients newly-diagnosed with breast cancer. This can provide high quality care for them.

Abstract

Cesarean section is a surgical intervention that most significantly affects the central nervous system and slows down bowel movements post section Caesarea. Intestinal function in women undergoing section caesarian surgery is essential, starting early. The study aimed at examining the effect of chewing gum on increasing the intestinal peristalsis in post-cesarean section. This study used a quasi-experimental, pre, and post with a control group was applied in this study. Seventy-two samples were recruited using a non-probability sampling such as consecutive sampling. CG was given to the intervention group 3 times, per 3 hours for 5 minutes with a frequency of chewing 30 times. Data analysis was performed and presented in descriptive statistics, and significant findings were computed using the paired t-test. The results showed that the mean Intestine Peristaltic intervention group increases from 11,47+1,647 to 16,61+2,487 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the mean Intestine Peristaltic level slightly increases from 11,31+1,470 to 14,22+1,290. The t-test obtained a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there were significant differences in the increase Intestine Peristaltic between the intervention and the control group. Chewing gum can increase intestinal peristalsis in cesarean section patients. Based on the findings, The nurse profession can use chewing gum to become one of the nursing independent interventions because easy. Keywords: cesarean section, peristaltic, chewing gum.

Abstract

Physical changes, such as changes in body habitus, and hormonal changes, including dramatic increases in estrogen and progesterone, are recognized contributors to sleep disturbance in pregnancy. The study aimed to examine the effect of combined Autogenic and Benson relaxation on sleep quality in pregnant women with hypertension. A quasi-experimental, pre-test, and post-test with a control group was applied in this study. Forty-six samples were recruited using a non-probability sampling such as consecutive sampling and assigned to the intervention group (n=23) and the control group (n=23). The intervention group did the relaxation two times per day for two weeks, then no intervention for the control group. Significant findings were analyzed using chi-square. There was a statistically significant difference between groups regarding daily sleep time, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, and sleep quality after the intervention. The results (p<0,05) showed that the mean intervention group PSQI score decreased from indicating significant differences in the decline PSQI score between the intervention and the control group. It was found that combined autogenic, and Benson relaxation as one of the non-pharmacological interventions effectively improved participants' sleep quality. Instruct pregnant women about appropriate non-pharmacological interventions which have no side-effects to enhance the quality of sleep Results: there was a statistically significant difference between groups regarding daily sleep time, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score and sleep quality after intervention. The dependent variable in this study was the implementation of infant massage. The samples in this study were 15 mothers giving birth in the postpartum ward of Kupang Police Hospitals and entered in the category inclusion. Retrieval of data through questionnaires administered to the mother postpartum researchers at day 2 and day 3 postpartum.Result: Based on the results of statistical tests Spearman Rho p<0.05 then H1 was accepted in the study of maternal knowledge relations p=0.015 (r= 0.612 ), maternal confidence p =0.000 (r=0.866), health resource p=0.018(r =0.600), support health workers p=0.000 (r =0.873), and family support p=0.810 ( r = -0.068 ).Discussion: It can be concluded that there was a strong relationship between maternal knowledge and health resources to the implementation of infant massage and also there was a very strong relationship between maternal confidence and support of health workers with the implementation of infant massage. While for other independent factors are level of education (p=0.74), socioeconomic status (p=0.07), perceived benefits to action (p=0.35) and perceived barrier to action (p=0.31) have no relationship with stunting prevention. The result of analysis on the prior related behavior had 2.81 times better in stunting prevention with a significance level is 0.03.Conclusion: The behavior of stunting prevention is influenced by prior related behavior that is supplementary feeding for pregnant women, overcoming iron and folic acid deficiency, providing worm medicine, providing complete immunization and preventing and treating diarrhea.
