Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential of Euphorbia hirta as a biological learning resource that can be utilized in educational settings. Euphorbia hirta is a plant commonly found in our surroundings. This plant offers various information that can be used to study plant organ anatomy, morphology, as well as its functions and benefits. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis through a literature review. Data sources were obtained from various scientific articles and books that deeply discuss Euphorbia hirta. The data collection process was carried out in three main stages: first, gathering journal articles and books relevant to the topic of Euphorbia hirta; second, organizing the data according to the designed research framework; and third, analyzing the organized data using applicable scientific principles and theories to achieve the research objectives. The analysis results show that Euphorbia hirta has great potential to be used as a biological learning resource, particularly in basic biology courses, plant anatomy, plant morphology, and higher plant botany courses. Utilizing Euphorbia hirta as a learning resource not only enriches the teaching material but also connects students more closely with their surrounding environment

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan Kelompok Tani Sarroanging di Desa Bontomanai, Kabupaten Gowa, melalui teknologi pengolahan limbah pertanian menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi. Limbah pertanian, yang sebelumnya hanya dibuang atau dibakar, diolah menjadi pupuk kompos yang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi. Program ini melibatkan serangkaian kegiatan pelatihan yang mencakup sosialisasi tentang dampak buruk limbah pertanian yang tidak dikelola dengan baik, pengolahan limbah menjadi kompos, hingga pelatihan manajemen pemasaran. Teknologi yang diperkenalkan, termasuk mesin pemotong dan pengaduk, membantu meningkatkan efisiensi proses produksi kompos. Hasil program menunjukkan bahwa petani tidak hanya memperoleh keterampilan teknis dalam pembuatan kompos, tetapi juga dalam pemasaran produknya, yang secara signifikan meningkatkan pendapatan mereka. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi pada peningkatan kesejahteraan ekonomi dan kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini merupakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan skema pemberdayaan berbasis masyarakat, yakni pemberdayaan Karang Taruna dalam membangkitkan perekonomian di Kawasan Wisata Leang-Leang, Maros yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli hingga September tahun 2024. Kegiatan ini berfokus pada pemanfaatan kawasan wisata Leang-Leang yang kaya akan nilai sejarah dan budaya, tetapi belum sepenuhnya dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pendapatan bagi masyarakat setempat. Beberapa kegiatan yang telah dilakukan pada kegiatan PKM ini adalah sosialisasi mengenai potensi wisata di Leang-Leang pada berbagai peluang ekonomi yang dapat dikembangkan melalui sektor pariwisata, pelatihan pembuatann souvenir dan kaos khas leang-leang, serta manjemen pemasarannya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yakni mitra karang Taruna memiliki pengetahuan dan skill dalam memproduksi souvenir khas Leang-Leang serta memahami cara pemasarannya, sehingga menjadi sumber ekonomi tambahan bagi masyarakat.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the innovations in biology learning media that have been discovered and developed in the last 10 years. The research method used is a literature review method, utilizing secondary data from articles in national and international journals published between 2014 and 2024. Based on the research results, information was obtained regarding the biology learning media that have been used and developed over the past decade. These innovations in biology learning media include 32 types of innovations, consisting of 30 technology-based learning media and 2 non-technology learning media. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for educators in using and developing biology learning media that align with the biology material or sub-topics.

Abstract

Abstract. The study aims to determine the effect of the active strategy type Questions Student Have on critical thinking skills. The type of research consists of a quasi-experiment. The research design consists of a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of all students in grade X of SMA Negeri 22 Makassar consists of 5 classes with a total of 180 students. The sample selection was carried out randomly so that class X.2 (experimental) and class X.5 (control) were selected. Data analysis techniques consist of descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis of the critical thinking test score of 49.61 are in the less category while the learning outcomes score of 79.31 are in the very high category. The results of the normality test of the sig. data value> 0.05, so that the data on students' critical thinking skills are normally distributed. The results of the homogeneity test of the sig value Based On Mean> 0.05 so that it is declared homogeneous. The results of the hypothesis test of the Sig value 0.001 <0.05, then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted so that there is an effect of the Questions Student Have type strategy on critical thinking skills. The conclusion is that the active strategy type Questions Student Have can encourage students to be more active in participating in the learning process.Key words: Type of Questions Students have, critical thinking, quantitative research, descriptive analysis, inferential analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of Pteridophyta (ferns) found in the Leang-Leang area, Maros, and to examine the potential of these identified species as biological learning resources. The Leang-Leang area is one of the karst regions in South Sulawesi known for its high biodiversity, including naturally growing ferns in humid and rocky environments. The research employed an exploratory method. Data were collected through direct field observation, documentation, and identification. The results showed that there are six species of Pteridophyta in this area, namely Adiantum philippense L., Lygodium venustum Sw., Phymatosorus scolopendria, Drynaria laurentii, Pteris biaurita L., and Hypodematium crenatum, all of which belong to the class Filicinae. These ferns hold great potential to be used as contextual learning resources in biology education, particularly in topics related to biodiversity and the classification of living organisms.

Abstract

This study aims to identify plant species found in the Leang-Leang Archaeological Tourism Area, Maros, as a learning resource for botanical biology. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data were collected using observation, exploration, and documentation methods. The research data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the plants found in the Leang-Leang Archaeological Area can be used as learning resources for botanical biology. The botanical biology subjects identified in this study include 29 plant families from the class Magnoliopsida and 12 plant families from the class Liliopsida. The Angiosperms found in the Leang-Leang area have the potential to serve as contextual biology learning resources.

Abstract

Plant morphology learning is an essential aspect of biology education that enables students to recognize various plant forms and structures. However, many students find it challenging to grasp this concept due to teaching methods that are less contextual and engaging. Nicotiana tabacum L., or tobacco plant, offers potential as a learning resource for plant morphology to facilitate students’ understanding. This study aims to explore the use of Nicotiana tabacum L. as a learning resource in plant morphology education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing the morphological characteristics of Nicotiana tabacum L. and their elaboration. The findings indicate that this plant possesses various easily identifiable morphological features, such as large lance-shaped leaves, an upright stem, and a taproot system. The study concludes that Nicotiana tabacum L. serves as a contextual learning resource to deepen students' understanding of plant morphology. The use of this plant in teaching is expected to enhance students’ interest and engagement in studying biology, particularly in understanding plant structures. ABSTRAKPembelajaran morfologi tumbuhan merupakan aspek penting dalam pendidikan biologi yang memungkinkan peserta didik untuk mengenal berbagai bentuk dan struktur tumbuhan. Namun, banyak peserta didik yang merasa kesulitan memahami konsep ini karena metode pengajaran yang kurang kontekstual dan menarik. Nicotiana tabacum L., atau tanaman tembakau, menawarkan potensi sebagai sumber belajar morfologi tumbuhan yang dapat memfasilitasi pemahaman peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penggunaan Nicotiana tabacum L. sebagai sumber belajar dalam pembelajaran morfologi tumbuhan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis terhadap karakter morfologi tanaman Nicotiana tabacum L. dan penjabarannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman ini memiliki berbagai ciri morfologi yang mudah diidentifikasi, seperti daun besar berbentuk lanset, batang yang tegak, dan sistem akar tunggang. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Nicotiana tabacum L. merupakan sumber belajar yang kontekstual untuk membantu peserta didik memahami morfologi tumbuhan dengan lebih mendalam. Penggunaan tanaman ini dalam pembelajaran diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat dan keterlibatan peserta didik dalam mempelajari biologi, khususnya dalam mengenal struktur tumbuhan.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to empower the Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Sejahtera in Kabba Village, Minasate’ne Sub-district, Pangkep Regency, in utilizing herbal plants grown in their home yards as a means to strengthen family immunity. The implementation method consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved observation and interviews to identify suitable herbal plant potentials. The implementation stage included outreach, training, and demonstrations on cultivating and processing herbal plants into immunity-boosting remedies. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-training questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and awareness of the benefits of herbal plants, with 75% of KWT members starting to plant and use herbal plants independently. This activity successfully promoted a healthy lifestyle based on local resources and supported efforts to enhance family resilience in a sustainable manner. The program is expected to serve as an environmentally friendly community empowerment model that contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of health and well-being.

Abstract

This study focuses on the importance of teaching materials in the lecture process, particularly in the contextual teaching course at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation and questionnaires. The subjects of this study were students enrolled in the contextual teaching course, consisting of 69 students. The results of the study indicate that the majority of students do not have textbooks as learning resources for the contextual teaching course; the learning resources they commonly use are sourced from the internet. The findings also reveal that the application of biological concepts in contextual teaching is still limited, with few examples of its implementation available. Based on the results, information was obtained regarding subtopics that are difficult to understand in the contextual teaching course, particularly in the subtopic of assessment in contextual learning within the psychomotor domain. On the other hand, material that students find easy to understand is the application of contextual teaching in direct instruction. The results also show that 98.6% of students agree on the need to develop a teaching module. The preferred form of the teaching module among students is both print and electronic versions. Therefore, the development of a comprehensive teaching module is considered necessary to support the learning process. This study is expected to serve as a basis for the development of more effective teaching materials to support contextual teaching lectures.
