Abstract

The issues of global warming and rising environmental temperatures require a building design approach that can optimize thermal comfort without relying on active cooling systems. Vernacular architecture offers passive design principles based on local wisdom that are adaptive to the climate. This study aims to analyze the application of passive design strategies in the Memarong Nok and Memarong Mak Traditional Buildings in the Gebong Memarong Traditional Village, Mapur Village, Bangka Regency, as a basis for the development of sustainable vernacular architecture. This study employs a mixed-method approach integrating qualitative and quantitative strategies. Qualitative data were obtained through field observations to understand the spatial characteristics and passive design strategies of the building, while quantitative data were collected through on-site measurements of air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation during peak daytime heat conditions. Thermal comfort analysis was conducted using the adaptive thermal comfort model based on ASHRAE Standard 55 and supported by Thermal Humidity Index (THI) calculations to quantitatively assess the building’s environmental performance. The results of the study show that both buildings are able to achieve thermal comfort conditions at outside temperatures of up to 32°C, with Memarong Nok in the comfortable category (THI 24.0°C) and Memarong Mak in the moderately comfortable category (THI 24.8°C). However, at more extreme outside temperatures, the thermal performance of the buildings declines. These findings confirm that passive design elements such as natural ventilation, the use of lightweight natural materials, building orientation, roof shape, and overhangs play a significant role in controlling heat and humidity. This study concludes that passive design principles based on local wisdom are still relevant and have the potential to be adapted as a sustainable building design strategy that is responsive to today's tropical climate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Islamic business ethics principles in the MSME Sirup Markisaku, a Sharia-based small business located in Lubuklinggau. Islamic business ethics, encompassing principles of honesty, fairness, transparency, and care, are considered essential in MSME operations to ensure business sustainability and foster trust with consumers and partners. This research utilizes a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with the MSME owner, employees, business partners, and consumers. The findings reveal that Sirup Markisaku has implemented the principle of honesty in product information disclosure, maintaining the quality of raw materials, and ensuring fair pricing for consumers. Additionally, transparency in operations and profit-sharing is practiced to maintain equitable relationships with business partners and employees. However, certain areas still need improvement, such as enhancing transparency in financial reporting and providing further training for employees on Sharia business ethics. This study contributes to the development of Sharia-based MSMEs by offering recommendations on how Islamic business ethics principles can be strengthened and applied more effectively to support business growth and sustainability.

Abstract

This research conducted to study and determine the bending moment plate by using the DirectDesign Method and Finite Element Method. In the procedure of calculation of concrete structuresfor buildings, namely SNI 2847 2013 has been set up several plates planning methods one ofwhich is a method of using the Direct Design Method analysis. Finite element method (FEM) isdividing a complex problem into small elements where a simpler solution can be easily obtained. The theory used in plate analysis with the FEM is Kirchhoff-Love theory in which the limits areused specifically for the analysis of thin plates with small deflections by ignoring the transverseshear forces. The program is used by applying the Finite Element Method in this study is aMicrosoft Excel as a tool for calculations and modeling program SAP 2000 as a plate structure. From the calculations that the value of deflection and the bending moment on the plate twodirections with varying results. From the results obtained show that the static moments of totalfactored Direct Planning Method and the Finite Element Method showed results equal to eachother . Distribution moments on the foundation and interior plate field differently due to directPlanning Method using a great moment coefficients in pedestal while the Finite Element Methodusing transition stiffness matrixKeywords:Direct Design Method, Finite Element Method, Two way slab, SAP 2000
