Abstract

Biomass such as rice husks and coconut shells can be used as a source of raw material for briquettes, which is an alternative energy source from waste. This study aims to determine the combustion rate between briquettes made from coconut shells and rice husks. The method used in this study is a little observation and literature study from several existing journals. The results of this research prove that the combustion rate of coconut shell briquettes is greater than the combustion rate of rice husk briquettes. The results of the briquette burning rate test prove that briquettes made from coconut shells have a greater burning rate than briquettes made from rice husks

Abstract

Acid rain is a global environmental problem that is always a hot topic. Acid rain occurs when gases produced from burning motor vehicle fuel and natural activities such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) react with water vapor (H2O) which has been mixed with other compounds from the evaporation process. This reaction produces carbonic acid (H2CO3), which is a type of weak acid. In addition, gases produced from burning or heating sulfur, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur oxide (SO2), will react with water vapor (H2O) to form sulfuric acid (H2SO4), which is a type of strong acid. The problems that arise due to acid rain make researchers flock to find solutions to this acid rain. In this article the author will discuss various solutions that can be applied to overcome the impacts caused by acid rain. By studying appropriate and reliable literature, the author has prepared an article that will contain the impacts and solutions that must be applied to solve the problems caused by acid rain.

Abstract

Interaksi antara medan magnet Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) dengan sel telah menjadi topik penelitian yang signifikan dalam konteks dampaknya terhadap hewan, tumbuhan, dan manusia. Dalam rangka mengevaluasi dampak potensial dari medan magnet ELF terhadap organisme hidup, kami melakukan tinjauan terhadap 20 jurnal yang relevan. Tinjauan kami menyelidiki mekanisme interaksi medan magnet ELF dengan sel pada berbagai tingkat biologis, mulai dari tingkat molekuler hingga organisme secara keseluruhan. Kami menemukan bahwa interaksi medan magnet ELF dengan sel dapat mempengaruhi berbagai proses biologis, termasuk aktivitas enzim, sintesis protein, dan ekspresi gen. Selain itu, dampak medan magnet ELF terhadap organisme hidup juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti intensitas medan, durasi paparan, dan spesies organisme yang terlibat. Meskipun beberapa studi menunjukkan efek negatif dari medan magnet ELF, temuan kami juga mencatat adanya hasil yang kontradiktif dan perlu penelitian lebih lanjut untuk memahami secara komprehensif mekanisme interaksi ini serta implikasinya terhadap kesehatan dan ekologi. Penelitian lanjutan dalam bidang ini akan memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang dampak medan magnet ELF pada organisme hidup dan membantu merumuskan pedoman regulasi yang tepat untuk melindungi kesejahteraan lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia

Abstract

Extreme low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields are a type of non-ionizing radiation produced by various electrical devices and infrastructure. Research has shown that exposure to ELF fields can affect the body's physiological functions, including the electrical activity of the heart. Exposure to extreme low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields has long been of concern due to its potential effects on human health. One area of ​​research focus is the effect of ELF exposure on the electrical activity of the heart. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review regarding the impact of exposure to ELF fields on the characteristics of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals as an indicator of heart function. The research method used is a literature review by collecting and analyzing relevant scientific articles from various databases. The search was carried out using keywords related to ELF field, exposure, and cardiac activity. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were then reviewed in depth to identify patterns and trends in research findings. The results of the literature review show that exposure to ELF fields can influence several important parameters in the ECG signal, such as heart rate, QT interval, and heart rate variability.

Abstract

Efek medan elektromagnetik frekuensi sangat rendah (ELF) pada tingkat kortisol tetap menjadi subjek yang menarik dan diteliti karena potensi dampaknya terhadap kesehatan manusia. Meskipun berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan mengenai efek medan elektromagnetik pada proses fisiologis, hubungan antara paparan ELF dan kortisol masih kompleks dan tidak meyakinkan. Tinjauan ini bertujuan untuk merangkum pengetahuan terkini tentang hubungan antara paparan ELF-EMF dan kadar kortisol dengan meninjau literatur penelitian yang ada. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan kemungkinan adanya hubungan antara paparan ELF dan perubahan kadar kortisol, meskipun hasilnya tidak konsisten. Bukti eksperimental menunjukkan bahwa efek stimulasi dan penekan ELF pada kadar kortisol bergantung pada faktor-faktor seperti frekuensi, intensitas, dan durasi paparan, serta kerentanan individu. Selain itu, ketidakkonsistenan metodologi antar penelitian, seperti perbedaan dalam desain eksperimen, penilaian paparan, dan teknik pengukuran kortisol, berkontribusi terhadap variabilitas hasil. Penelitian lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan metode standar dan desain penelitian yang ketat diperlukan untuk menjelaskan mekanisme biologis yang mendasarinya dan memperjelas hubungan antara paparan medan elektromagnetik dan regulasi kortisol. Memahami interaksi ini penting untuk menilai risiko kesehatan yang terkait dengan paparan medan elektromagnetik (ELF) dan menginformasikan pedoman kesehatan manusia dan keselamatan medan elektromagnetik.

Abstract

Plastic waste is an environmental problem that is very difficult to solve. To decompose it alone takes approximately 80 years for the plastic waste to decompose completely. In 2022, plastic waste will be the second most generated waste after food waste, which is 17.8% of all waste generated in Indonesia. Therefore, this research was made to overcome environmental problems due to plastic waste by utilizing thermal technology in the manufacture of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC). This research uses the literature study method by collecting several reading sources from previous research. In the utilization of thermal technology, several stages are carried out, namely washing, drying, chopping, then given thermal treatment, and the last is printing. the utilization of thermal technology in the processing of plastic waste into Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) is effective in reducing environmental pollution due to plastic waste. Processing plastic waste through thermal technology will increase the durability of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) such as water resistance, color resistance to ultraviolet radiation, and this material is environmentally friendly. The utilization of thermal technology in converting plastic waste into Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) will help reduce the amount of plastic waste and reduce environmental pollution due to plastic waste.

Abstract

Indonesia has a lot of great potential that can help human resources in carrying out daily activities, especially in the maritime sector, which is very broad and large, measuring almost ± 6,000,000 km2. Unfortunately, the utilization of air wave energy has not been fully utilized optimally and several researchers have not carried out much research regarding the electrical energy formed from sea waves. The government has a policy to facilitate researchers' interest in conducting research so that there are many numerical specifications for the energy potential of ocean currents in turbine trials. There has been research into turbine trials at sea since 2006. Current turbines are an alternative energy source from kinetic energy to electrical energy. This research was carried out using a qualitative descriptive method, namely research that can describe the results that have been obtained by several studies that have been carried out previously. So far, the resources used by humans to generate electricity mostly use non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels (petroleum and coal).

Abstract

The collection of knowledge and techniques used to create tools, a system, and a method that helps us solve problems to achieve certain goals is called technology. Technology also covers various fields, such as information technology, biomedical technology, agricultural technology, and many more. Where each field uses its own knowledge and techniques to create solutions to problems in everyday life. Water is the most important component in life on earth, all living creatures need water to survive, including humans. Chemically, water consists of hydrogen atoms (H) bonded to oxygen atoms (O), so it has the chemical formula H20. However, currently the clean water crisis is occurring in almost all big cities in Indonesia. Due to water pollution due to human activities, such as industrial waste disposal, intensive agriculture, and the use of dangerous chemicals, water loses its best quality. Therefore, water treatment technology has a very important role to support people's needs for clean water.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis permasalahan pemerataan akses air bersih di daerah Jember yang berfokus pada peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Melalui metode kajian pustaka, penelitian ini mereview kendala-kendala utama yang mempengaruhi distribusi yang merata dari sumber air bersih di berbagai wilayah Jember. Faktor geografis, infrastruktur, dan kondisi sanitasi menjadi kendala utama dalam pemerataan akses air bersih. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini mencari solusi berkelanjutan melalui beberapa sumber dan kebijakan yang dapat diimplementasikan untuk meningkatkan distribusi yang merata dan kualitas air bersih di seluruh daerah Jember. Analisis ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap upaya pemenuhan akses air bersih dalam mencapai kesejahteraan masyarakat di daerah tersebut.
