Abstract

Interest in student learning is a willingness or desire in students to learn something. In this study, the researchers discussed the interest in learning mathematics in students based on gender in class 8 D of SMPN 1 Bukittinggi in the 2022 academic year. This research has the objective of describing the interest in learning mathematics in male and female students in class 8 D SMPN 1 Bukittinggi . The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. Where the subjects in this study were 8 D grade students, totaling 25 people and the homeroom teacher for class 8 D SMPN 1 Bukittinggi. In collecting data, researchers used a questionnaire. The results of this study are: student questionnaire data as a whole average percentage of 59%. So the conclusion is that most of the 8th grade students have an interest in learning mathematics. Meanwhile, based on gender, the results showed that the interest in learning mathematics for male students was higher than that for female students (60% > 59%). Abstract

This study discusses problems related to overcoming students' difficulties incarrying out learning activities. The purpose of this study is to explain and provide resultsof appropriate learning action solutions for students who experience difficulties in learningmathematics. The implementation of this research utilizes a literature review. The object of the research was carried out in class IX at SMPN 3 Tualang on the grounds that thereare still many students at that school who have learning difficulties. Data collection techniques with observation, tests, and documentation. The results stated that after implementing the discovery learning model of action, students' learning difficulties could be overcome properly. For this reason, the actions taken have an influence on the problem of student learning difficulties. Keywords: Learning Difficulty, Discovery Learning, Quadratic Equation

Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of students who have low self-concept and study habits. The aims of this study are: 1) To find out self-concept in students in class VII MTsN 3 Agam. 2) To find out the study habits of students in class VII MTsN 3 Agam. This research uses quantitative descriptive research. The research population was class VII MTsN 3 Agam in the 2022/2023 academic year, with a total of 160 students and the research sample was taken by simple random sampling consisting of 32 students. The instrument that the researcher used in this study was a questionnaire instrument for self-concept and study habits. The collected data were analyzed and determined from the students' self-concept and study habits by means of a percentage. The results of the study showed that the percentage of self-concept in class VII students of MTsN 3 Agam was 78.125% in the moderate category. And the percentage of study habits in class VII students of MTsN 3 Agam is 68.75% in the moderate category.

Abstract

Masalah yang ditemukan di kelas delapan menjadi pendorong untuk penelitian ini. Metode pembelajaran sebagian besar berpusat pada guru, yang mengakibatkan keterlibatan siswa pasif dan tingkat keterampilan komunikasi matematika yang buruk di antara siswa, menurut pengamatan dan wawancara. Penerapan teknik token waktu, model pembelajaran kooperatif, adalah salah satu cara yang mungkin untuk mengatasi kesulitan ini. Pendekatan Perbandingan Kelompok Statis, desain pra-eksperimental, digunakan dalam penyelidikan ini. Semua siswa kelas delapan di Pondok Pesantren Darul Fiqhi Merangin merupakan populasi untuk penelitian ini, dan pengujian awal dilakukan pada data populasi untuk memastikan kenormalan, homogenitas, dan kesetaraan rata-rata. Teknik pengambilan sampel secara acak merupakan metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII B yang merupakan kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIII C yang merupakan kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, rata-rata hasil belajar kelompok eksperimen adalah 64,69, menengahkan rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 53,19. Nilai t hitung sebesar 2,65 dan nilai t krusial sebesar 1,67 diperoleh dari analisis data menggunakan uji-t. Karena nilai t hitung lebih besar dari nilai t krusial, hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak pada tingkat signifikansi α = 0,05. Dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran tradisional, dapat dikatakan bahwa siswa Pondok Pesantren Darul Fiqhi Merangin yang menggunakan strategi token time untuk pembelajaran kooperatif menunjukkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika yang lebih bagus.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems in class VIII of Al-Irsyad TI Bulaan Kamba Islamic Boarding School that the learning process is still centered on the teacher, lack of student response to mathematics learning, lack of student courage to ask the teacher, students still think mathematics is difficult and scary, lack of interest in learning mathematics, and students are less enthusiastic when participating in mathematics learning. One alternative learning that can be done to overcome these problems is to apply the Problem Based Learning learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the interest in learning mathematics of class VIII students of Al Irsyad TI Bulaan Kamba Islamic Boarding School. The hypothesis in this study is "there is a significant effect of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the interest in learning mathematics of class VIII students of Al Irsyad TI Bulaan Kamba Islamic Boarding School". This type of research is a pre-experiment with a one group pretest-posttest research design, the population in this study were all students of class VIII of Al Irsyad TI Bulaan Kamba Islamic Boarding School, the sampling used was Random Sampling, first a normality test, homogeneity test, and average similarity test were carried out on the population data. The sample in this study was class VIII A as the sample class. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire on students' interest in learning mathematics. The data analysis technique used in this study was the paired sample t test. The results obtained from the paired sample t test were t count = 2.81 and t table = 2.05 and sig = 0.0045 at a real level of α = 0.05. From these results it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the interest in learning mathematics of class VIII students of Al Irsyad TI Bulaan Kamba Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of the Directed Practice learning approach on the motivation and learning outcomes of mathematics students in grade XI Phase F at State High School 1 Candung for the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used is pre-experimental with a Static Group Comparison design. The research sample consists of 54 students selected through random sampling techniques from a population of 79 students. The XI Phase F3 class is designated as the experimental group that receives instruction with the Directed Practice approach, while the XI Phase F2 class serves as the control group that receives conventional instruction. The instruments used in this study include learning outcome tests and motivation questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using the t-test with the help of SPSS software. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group, both in terms of learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. For learning motivation, a calculated t-value of 3.1656 was obtained > table t = 1.63756 with a significance value of 0.003 < 0.05. Meanwhile, for mathematics learning outcomes, a calculated t-value of 2.234 was obtained > table t = 1.63756 with a significance value of 0.03 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the Directed Practice learning approach has a significant effect on improving the motivation and mathematics learning outcomes of the XI Fase F students at SMA Negeri 1 Candung

Abstract

Guru memiliki peran penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Guru memiliki beberapa peranan yang harus dilaksanakannya untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang efektif, namun saat observasi awal ada 2 indikator yaitu peran sebagai fasilitator dan evaluator dari 7 indikator peran guru yang diduga belum terjalankan untuk itu diperlukan kajian mendalam mengenai peran guru. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan peran guru dan faktor yang mempengaruhi peran guru dalam proses pembelajaran matematika era new normal di kelas X IPS SMAN 2 Mandau. Metode penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan subjek 3 guru matematika kelas X IPS dan 6 siswa kelas X IPS dan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu data reduction, data display, dan conclusion drawing/verivication. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan ditemukan bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi guru dalam menjalankan perannya dalam proses pembelajaran matematika adalah masa kerja dalam mengajar yang belum terlalu lama serta kondisi fisik guru. Faktor dari siswa disebabkan rendahnya minat belajar matematika siswa, literasi serta konsep dasar matematika siswa yang kurang, kondisi siswa yang belum siap belajar, serta kondisi fisik siswa. Sedangkan dari faktor sarana dan prasarana dan faktor lingkungan kurang mempengaruhi peran guru karena sistem pembelajaran era new normal yang berubah sehingga tidak terlalu mempengaruhi peran guru hanya saja kerbatasan waktu dalam belajar akibat Covid-19 mempengaruhi guru dalam mengajar. Teachers have an important role in the learning process. Teachers have several roles that must be carried out to create effective learning, however during initial observations there were 2 indicators, namely the role of facilitator and evaluator, of the 7 indicators of the teacher's role which were thought to have not been implemented, so an in-depth study of the teacher's role was needed. The aim of this research is to describe the role of the teacher and the factors that influence the teacher's role in the new normal era mathematics learning process in class X IPS at SMAN 2 Mandau. This quantitative research method used as subjects 3 class X IPS mathematics teachers and 6 class X IPS students and used data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. From the research conducted, it was found that the factors that influence teachers in carrying out their role in the mathematics learning process are the short period of work in teaching and the teacher's physical condition. The student factor is caused by students' low interest in learning mathematics, students' lack of literacy and basic mathematical concepts, the condition of students who are not ready to learn, and the physical condition of students. Meanwhile, facilities and infrastructure and environmental factors do not influence the role of teachers because the learning system in the new normal era has changed so it does not really affect the role of teachers, it's just that time constraints in learning due to Covid-19 affect teachers in teaching.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis matematis adalah keterampilan yang sangat penting untuk dipelajari karena merupakan salah satu aspek berpikir tingkat tinggi yang perlu dikuasai oleh siswa di abad 21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika berdasarkan tipe kepribadian Keirsey. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan Langkah-langkah dalam memberikan angket untuk penggolongan tipe kepribadian Keirsey adalah sebagai berikut: Peneliti memilih empat subjek penelitian, masing-masing mewakili satu dari tipe kepribadian Idealist, Rational, Artisan, dan Guardian. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan pedoman wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kualitatif Miles dan Huberman, yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Untuk menguji keabsahan data, peneliti menggunakan metode triangulasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) subjek dengan tipe kepribadian Guardian hanya mampu memenuhi indikator evaluasi dan inferensi; 2) subjek dengan tipe kepribadian Artisan juga hanya mampu memenuhi indikator evaluasi dan inferensi; 3) subjek dengan tipe kepribadian Rational mampu memenuhi tiga indikator berpikir kritis matematis; dan 4) subjek dengan tipe kepribadian Idealist hanya mampu memenuhi satu indikator berpikir kritis matematis.

Abstract

The study period of study program graduates is one of the accreditation assessments carried out by The Independent Accreditation Agencies for Education or LAMDIK. The graduates have a study period is less than five years getting the highest point in the assessment matrix for criterion 9, namely tri-dharma outputs and achievements. However, most study program graduates from various universities in Indonesia completed their studies more than 4 years. This case also happened to graduates of Mathematics Education at IAIN Bukittinggi. There were 70% of graduates who completed their studies more than 4 years. The aim of this research was to determine factors that influence the graduates’ study period and their characteristics who were able to complete their studies for 4 years. This research was descriptive quantitative with a correlation study of 10 independent variable factors that affect the study period. By using total sampling, there were 340 graduates of Mathematics Education as a sample of this research. Documentation and questionnaires were used to collect the data. Then, the CHAID method was used to analyze the data. The result showed that, first, there were 5 independent variables that affect the graduates’ study period, namely the period of thesis completion, the gender, the major of high school, the mother’s occupation, and the track of university entrance. Second, there were 2 characteristics in which students can complete their studies for 4 years with a confidence level of 74,3%.  Keywords: Study Period, Mathematics Education Students, CHAID Method

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the TPACK competencies of mathematics teachers in Sumatra based on gender differences. Using a sequential explanatory mixed method approach, this study collected data through questionnaires and interviews to test hypotheses using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results indicate that mathematics teachers in Sumatra have a high level of TPACK competencies, with gender influencing the pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge domains. Specifically, male teachers exhibit higher competency in these domains compared to their female counterparts. Additionally, male teachers more frequently utilize technology in teaching and exhibit greater variability in integrating TPACK compared to female teachers. The implication of this research provides valuable insights for the development of teacher training programs that consider gender factors in enhancing TPACK competency, which is crucial for effective technology integration in mathematics education.
