Abstract

A volatile and uncertain business environment requires organisations to have employees who are agile in adapting. However, job insecurity can affect employees' psychological conditions and potentially hinder adaptive behaviour. Therefore, resilience is considered important as the ability to survive and thrive amid the pressures of change. This study aims to analyse the influence of organisational culture and job insecurity on employee agility, with employee resilience as a mediating variable. This is a quantitative study using a survey method. The study population consisted of 600 permanent employees in the accessories division of the garment industry in Semarang Regency. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with the following criteria: permanent employees with at least 1 year of service, experiencing changes in the work system/environmental pressure, and willingness to participate, resulting in 220 respondents. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analysed using the Partial Least Squares approach to Structural Equation Modelling (SEM-PLS). The results showed that organisational culture contributed positively to resilience and employee agility. In this study, job insecurity was also associated with increased resilience and employee agility. Resilience was found to act as a mediator bridging the influence of organisational culture and job insecurity on employee agility. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of strengthening adaptive culture, ensuring clear organisational communication, and developing resilience-building programmes to maintain employee agility in the face of change.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the digital startup ecosystem has transformed the labor market, creating a demand for resilient and adaptive human resources. Hybrid work arrangements and digital competencies are crucial in this context, yet their impact on human resource resilience, with work-life balance as a mediator, remains underexplored. This study aims to examine the effects of hybrid work and digital competence on human resource resilience in digital startups while investigating the mediating role of work-life balance. A quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis was employed on a purposive sample of 150 employees from digital startups in Bandung, with data collected through structured questionnaires measuring hybrid work, digital competence, work-life balance, and human resource resilience. Results indicate that hybrid work and digital competence significantly influence human resource resilience, with work-life balance partially mediating these effects. The proposed model explains 83.4% of the variance in human resource resilience and 60.5% of the variance in work-life balance. These findings underscore the necessity of integrated policies that combine hybrid work, digital competency development, and work-life balance enhancement to foster sustainable human resource resilience in digital startups.

Abstract

A Kaizen work culture that emphasizes continuous improvement and performance-oriented leadership is considered capable of creating a productive, collaborative, and highly moral work environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of a Kaizen work culture and performance-maintenance leadership on Horenso performance, with morality and spirituality as mediating variables in the garment manufacturing industry at a specific company. This research approach used a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to 75 employees in the warehousing department. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling with partial least squares to test the direct and indirect relationships between variables. The results indicate that a Kaizen work culture has a positive and significant effect on Horenso performance, both directly and through morality and spirituality as mediating variables. Similarly, performance-maintenance leadership was shown to have a significant influence on improving Horenso performance by strengthening moral and spiritual values within the workplace. The model explained 68.8 percent of variance in morality and spirituality and 84.2 percent in Horenso performance, with partial mediation effects. Findings indicate moral-spiritual values strengthen Kaizen and performance-maintenance leadership effectiveness in enhancing communication, coordination, collaboration in garment manufacturing.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the impact of digital technology on lecturers’ performance in higher education institutions. The analysis focuses on five key indicators: learning enhancement, teaching effectiveness, academic leadership, infrastructure readiness, and the availability of syllabi and lesson plans. Methodology: A mixed-methods approach was adopted, involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection. Questionnaires were distributed to 64 lecturers, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with selected participants. The instruments assessed lecturers’ attitudes, behaviors, and the extent of digital technology adoption across teaching, research, and community service activities. A Likert scale was used to measure the level of digital technology acceptance. Main Findings: The findings show that although many lecturers are still in the process of understanding and adapting to digital transformation, the use of digital technology has significantly improved their effectiveness and efficiency. It has also increased learning flexibility and student engagement through more interactive and accessible educational environments. Key supporting factors identified include institutional infrastructure, academic leadership, and supportive policies. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge by exploring the multifaceted influence of digital technology on lecturers' performance. It highlights the critical role of institutional support in facilitating sustainable digital integration in higher education, particularly in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid advancement of digital technology demands strong digital competence, particularly among civil servants in educational institutions. This study aims to examine the influence of digital competence on civil servants’ performance, investigating both direct effects and indirect pathways through employee engagement and interpersonal communication. Methodology: A quantitative survey method was employed involving 150 civil servants working in public educational institutions in Riau, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Main Findings: The results indicate that digital competence has a significant positive impact on performance, both directly and indirectly. Employee engagement and interpersonal communication serve as effective mediators that enhance the relationship between digital competence and performance. The findings suggest that civil servants who possess strong digital skills, coupled with high engagement and effective interpersonal communication, demonstrate better job performance. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a novel contribution by integrating psychological (employee engagement) and relational (interpersonal communication) dimensions as mediators in the relationship between digital competence and performance. While previous studies have focused mainly on technological aspects, this research highlights the importance of human and social factors in driving performance in digitally transforming institutions. The implication of these findings points to the need for a more holistic approach to digital transformation policies in the public sector, where capacity building should not only address technical skills but also foster engagement and communication abilities among employees.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze teachers’ proficiency in developing microlearning materials based on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPaCK) to enhance students’ access to subject matter and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of learning outcomes. Methodology: This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The study involved 37 teachers selected through purposive sampling, representing various educational levels and subject areas relevant to the integration of technology in teaching. Data were collected using structured interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The questionnaires, distributed via Google Forms, assessed teachers’ TPaCK proficiency across the domains of technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge in the design of microlearning materials. Interview data provided deeper insights into teachers’ practical experiences, while document analysis validated the quality of microlearning materials produced. Quantitative data from the questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS version 25 to obtain descriptive statistics, and qualitative data from interviews and document reviews were analyzed thematically to triangulate findings. Main Findings: The results revealed that most teachers demonstrated adequate proficiency in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPaCK), particularly in integrating technology into instructional design. However, some teachers demonstrated limited mastery in applying pedagogical principles and in effectively using technology-based tools to develop microlearning materials. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides new insights into the relationship between TPaCK proficiency and the development of microlearning materials in blended learning environments. It underscores how teachers’ integrated competence in technology, pedagogy, and content directly influences the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of digital instructional resources.
