Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills on emperature and heat material. This research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects were eleventh-grade students. The instrument used was an essay test based on Ennis’ critical thinking indicators, including elementary clarification, basic support, inference, advanced clarification, and strategy and tactics. Supporting data were obtained through observation and interviews. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were still in the low category with an average score of 31.06. The highest achievement was found in elementary clarification, while the lowest was in inference and strategy and tactics. Therefore, students' critical thinking skills on temperature and heat material still need to be improved through learning that encourages higher-order thinking activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ problem-solving abilities in physics regarding the topic of fluid dynamics through a preliminary study at Mekar Arum High School. The main question is how well students perform in solving physics problems. This study serves as an initial investigation to identify students’ difficulties. A descriptive method was applied involving 36 students, with data collected through observation, interviews, and diagnostic tests. The results indicate that students’ problem-solving skills remain low, particularly in the planning and evaluation stages of solution development. These findings underscore the need for a more student-centered learning approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi Hukum Hooke. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik dalam memahami konsep fisika secara mendalam, yang ditunjukkan melalui kecenderungan menghafal rumus tanpa mampu menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan menarik kesimpulan dari suatu permasalahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik kelas XI SMA. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis yang disusun berdasarkan indikator yang dikemukakan oleh Robert H. Ennis, yaitu elementary clarification, basic support, inferring, advanced clarification, serta strategies and tactics. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes tertulis, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa persentase, rata-rata, dan standar deviasi untuk menentukan kategori kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik berada pada kategori yang bervariasi, dengan capaian relatif lebih tinggi pada indikator pemahaman dasar dan penggunaan informasi, serta lebih rendah pada indikator penarikan kesimpulan, penjelasan mendalam, dan strategi pemecahan masalah. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa peserta didik masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep Hukum Hooke secara konseptual dan aplikatif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan inovasi dalam pembelajaran fisika yang dapat mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik secara lebih optimal.This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills in the material of Hooke's Law. The background of this study is based on the low ability of students to understand physics concepts in depth, which is shown through the tendency to memorize formulas without being able to analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions from a problem. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with the research subjects of grade XI high school students. The instrument used is a critical thinking ability test compiled based on indicators proposed by Robert H. Ennis, namely elementary clarification, basic support, inferring, advanced clarification, and strategies and tactics. The data collection technique is carried out through a written test, then analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages, averages, and standard deviations to determine the category of students' critical thinking abilities. The results of the study show that students' critical thinking abilities are in various categories, with relatively higher achievements in the indicators of basic understanding and use of information, and lower in the indicators of drawing conclusions, in-depth explanations, and problem-solving strategies. These findings indicate that students still experience difficulties in understanding the concept of Hooke's Law conceptually and applicatively. Therefore, innovations are needed in physics learning that can develop students' critical thinking skills more optimally.

Abstract

This study stems from the problem of students' low critical thinking skills in physics learning, particularly in static fluid material. This study aims to analyze the level of students' critical thinking skills based on critical thinking indicators. The researcher positioned himself as an observer who examined students' critical thinking skills through a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was carried out using an essay test compiled based on critical thinking skill indicators, namely elementary clarification, basic support, inferring, advanced clarification, and strategy and tactics. Supporting data were obtained through observation and interviews to strengthen the analysis results. Data were analyzed by calculating the average value for each indicator and categorizing them into critical thinking skill levels. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were in the very low category with an average score of 15.93. The indicator with the highest achievement was advanced clarification, while the lowest indicator was strategy and tactics. These findings indicate that students still experience difficulties in conducting analysis, drawing conclusions, and determining problem-solving strategies

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan serta perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik setelah diterapkannya model Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) berbantuan media Amrita dan model Inquiry Learning berbantuan media Amrita pada materi suhu dan kalor. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen melalui non-equivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas 207 peserta didik kelas XI di SMAN 14 Garut, dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Sampel penelitian yaitu kelas XI-5 sebagai kelas eksperimen pertama (31 peserta didik) dan kelas XI-6 sebagai kelas eksperimen kedua (30 peserta didik). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata keterlaksanaan pembelajaran pada kelas eksperimen pertama mencapai 90% untuk aktivitas guru dan 84% untuk aktivitas peserta didik, sedangkan pada kelas eksperimen kedua mencapai 89% untuk aktivitas guru dan 82% untuk aktivitas peserta didik. Keduanya termasuk kategori sangat baik. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis ditunjukkan oleh nilai N-Gain, yaitu 0,75 (kategori tinggi) untuk kelas eksperimen pertama dan 0,59 (kategori sedang) untuk kelas eksperimen kedua. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan independent t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, sehingga H₀ ditolak. Dengan demikian, terdapat perbedaan signifikan dalam peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis antara peserta didik yang belajar menggunakan model GDL berbantuan Amrita dan model Inquiry Learning berbantuan Amrita pada materi suhu dan kalor.
