Abstract

Background: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a global health problem and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The incidence of hypertension is greatly influenced by lifestyle factors, including diet, physical activity, smoking, and stress. Optimal management requires a thorough understanding of these risk factors. Objective: Analyzing the relationship between lifestyle and hypertension in the working area of the Werdhi Agung Community Health Center in Bolaang Mongondow Regency. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with the population and sample consisting of patients treated at the Werdhi Agung Community Health Center. The sample size was planned to be 70 respondents, selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire on lifestyle and medical records for hypertension status. Statistical analysis will use the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 95% (α=0.05). Results: The univariate analysis results show that the majority of respondents have a Healthy Lifestyle (80.0%) and the majority experience Hypertension (68.6%). The bivariate statistical test yielded a P value of 0.000 or P < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between lifestyle and hypertension. However, in terms of frequency, hypertension was more prevalent in the “Good” lifestyle group (48 respondents; 68.6%), while there were no cases of hypertension in the “Poor” lifestyle group. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between lifestyle and the incidence of hypertension. The counterintuitive findings indicate that non-modifiable risk factors such as advanced age (> 65 years) or a history of long-term exposure to risk play a strong role, or that there is a need to re-examine the lifestyle measurement instruments used

Abstract

Background: Pain is a common complaint experienced by pregnant women as a result of physiological and biomechanical changes in the body approaching childbirth. Pain that is not properly managed can affect comfort, sleep quality, and the psychological condition of pregnant women. One non-pharmacological method that is simple, safe, and effective is the application of warm compresses. This study aims to determine the effect of warm compresses on reducing pain intensity in pregnant women. Objective: This study aims to examine whether warm compresses have an effect on pain intensity in pregnant women and can be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of third-trimester pregnant women experiencing pain who met the inclusion criteria. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the application of warm compresses. Results: The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate pain before the application of warm compresses. Following the intervention, the majority of respondents reported a decrease in pain intensity, categorized as mild. Statistically, there was a significant difference between pain intensity before and after the application of warm compresses, indicating that warm compresses reduced pain intensity in pregnant women. Conclusion: Based on the study results, it can be concluded that the application of warm compresses reduces pain intensity in pregnant women. Warm compresses are an effective, safe, and easy-to-apply non-pharmacological method to improve the comfort of pregnant women.

Abstract

Burnout syndrome is often found in human service professions such as medical and non-medical health workers. In work environments with high levels of complexity such as intensive care units, workload and job stress are triggering factors that greatly influence the occurrence of burnout syndrome. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' work stress and burnout syndrome in nurses in the intensive care unit of Ulin Banjarmasin Regional Hospital. The research design used in this study is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The study used the Spearman's rank correlation test. The research instruments used were the ENSS (Expanded Nursing Stress Scale) questionnaire to measure work stress and the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) questionnaire to assess the level of nurses' burnout syndrome. The study was conducted in the intensive care unit (ICU/ICCU/PICU) of Ulin Banjarmasin Regional Hospital for one month. Total sampling was used, involving 85 nurses. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between work stress and burnout syndrome in nurses in the intensive care unit of Ulin Regional Hospital, Banjarmasin, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This finding demonstrates the importance of work stress management and psychological support for nurses to maintain mental health and the quality of nursing services. Nursing professionals, especially those in critical care settings, are expected to better understand the importance of stress management. This will minimize the risk of burnout syndrome and minimize the impact on the quality of care provided to patients.

Abstract

Variabel burnout diukur menggunakan Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), sedangkan job performance diukur menggunakan Indonesian version of Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ).
