Abstract

The occurrence of maternal deaths is related to direct causal factors and indirect causes. The direct causes of maternal death in Indonesia are still dominated by factors. by bleeding, eclampsia, and infection, while the indirect factors causing maternal death are because there are still many cases, 3 too late and 4 too late, which are related to access, socio-cultural, educational and economic factors. This research uses a combination method with a sequential explanatory design. The first uses quantitative methods, and the second uses qualitative methods. A quantitative approach is used to identify and explain variables that influence behavior such as knowledge, attitudes, facilities and encouragement of officers. A qualitative approach is used to support and complement quantitative research results. The chi-square test shows that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, facilities and encouragement of health workers on the behavior of pregnant women in pregnancy checks. P value = 0.001. If the significance value is <0.05, it is recognized that there is a statistically significant correlation. Meanwhile, attitudes show no statistical correlation. The logistic regression test shows that there is an influence between knowledge and facilities on the behavior of pregnant women. There are two substantial findings, namely regarding knowledge about antenatal care and the availability of facilities which influence the behavior of pregnant women in antenatal care.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease that is closely related to diet therapy. Diet Therapy is a description of the types, amount and composition of food a person eats every day. An urban lifestyle with a diet pattern that is excessively high in fat, salt and sugar results in various diseases including diabetes mellitus. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of diet therapy and physical activity on blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. This research is a quantitative research using an observational approach with a cross sectional design, namely research by studying the correlation between risk factors and the effects they cause by approaching, observing or collecting data at one time. The results of the statistical analysis test show the chi-square test X2 = 4.022 or at a confidence level (α = 0.05) P-value 0.045. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between physical activity variables and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. The Odd Ratio (OR) value = 3.3 (95% CI 0.090 – 1.002) meaning that less physical activity has a risk of developing Type II DM that is 3.3 times greater than those with less diet therapy.

Abstract

Drug abuse among adolescents is a growing public health problem, particularly in Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency. The family, as the closest environment for adolescents, plays a crucial role in preventing risky behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between family roles and drug abuse behavior among adolescents in Sidrap Regency. The research design used a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 120 adolescents aged 15–24 years, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire regarding family roles (communication, supervision, emotional support, and religious values) and drug abuse behavior. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between family roles and drug abuse behavior (p < 0.05). Adolescents from families with poor communication, low supervision, and minimal emotional support are at higher risk of drug abuse. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening the family's role in preventing drug abuse among adolescents.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a serious problem that threatens the health, safety, and future of young people in Indonesia. Sidenreng Rappang Regency is an area vulnerable to drug distribution and abuse, particularly among adolescents and the productive population. This study aims to identify strategies for preventing and addressing drug abuse through a community approach. The research method used a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of government officials, community leaders, health workers, law enforcement officers, and community groups. The results indicate that community-based strategies include: drug education and counseling, strengthening the role of families, cross-sector collaboration (government, the National Narcotics Agency, police, schools, and community organizations), and the formation of drug-aware communities. In conclusion, drug prevention efforts through a community approach are effective in raising awareness, strengthening family resilience, and creating a conducive, drug-free environment. The research recommendations include expanding the scope of educational programs, optimizing the role of local communities, and integrating drug prevention policies with regional development programs.

This research is a qualitative research that aims to find out the network pattern that allows for an increase in network cases which are the center of network operations and the mode of network operation in capturing drug abuse. The snowball sampling technique is a sampling method in which samples are obtained through a rolling and multilevel process, from one individual to another. The research location is focused on Baranti sub-district, Sidenreng Rappang district with the consideration that this area is a red zone. The results showed that there was an increase in the number of drug cases and the mode of operation of the network was highly structured and there was a positive response from the government from all components in Sidenreng Rappang.

Abstract

According to WHO, the primary causes of stunting in children under five years old include infections, insufficient infant and child feeding practises, and poor maternal health and nutrition. This study aimed to investigate the use of Technology as a health promotion strategy for stunting knowledge in nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used an analytic study using a quasi-experimental study. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The sample in this study was 22 respondents in health university students, with a total population of 45 respondents. The findings revealed that the use of animation-based technology in health promotion can help nursing science students at the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of Megarezky University learn more about stunting, including how to provide children with enough nutrition and how to parent stunted children. Animation-based Technology makes information easier to understand and allows for repetition; it has an impact on nursing students' understanding of stunting and how to promote health effectively.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension remains one of the most prevalent public health issues globally, demanding not only curative but also preventive and promotive strategies. Community-based health promotion programs have emerged as a vital approach to increasing awareness, literacy, and behavioral change to prevent hypertension. Methods: This study employed a qualitative method through a systematic literature review of national and international publications from 2020 to 2025. The selected sources were analyzed thematically to identify social dynamics, intervention models, and determinants of program success. Data analysis involved reduction, display, and interpretation to construct a conceptual model explaining how community-based promotion enhances prevention literacy. Results: The findings indicate that the effectiveness of community-based programs depends on active participation, leadership, resource availability, and integration with primary health services. Empowerment-based education improved knowledge, modified risky behavior, and strengthened cooperation between communities and health workers. The use of digital technologies, such as mobile health applications and social media, expands educational outreach and engagement. Conclusion: Community-based health promotion is a transformative strategy for building awareness, empowerment, and self-reliance in hypertension prevention. Cross-sector collaboration and technology-driven innovation are essential to achieving sustainable outcomes. It is recommended that policymakers and health practitioners strengthen digital literacy, allocate continuous funding, and institutionalize participatory community programs to ensure long-term impact.

Abstract

Pain during the first stage of labor frequently heightens maternal stress and may interfere with the physiological progress of childbirth. This study examined the effectiveness of endorphine massage as a non-pharmacological technique for reducing pain experienced by women in the active phase of first-stage labor. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with sixteen consecutively recruited participants from a community health center. The intervention consisted of a structured endorphine-massage protocol delivered by trained midwives, involving gentle rhythmic strokes and light pressure applied for approximately 15 minutes to the lower back, shoulders, and pelvic area. Pain intensity was measured before and after the intervention using the validated Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Normality was confirmed with the Shapiro–Wilk test, permitting the use of a paired t-test. The mean pain score decreased from 7.40 before the intervention to 6.13 afterward, indicating a statistically significant reduction (p = 0.001) with a moderate effect size. These findings suggest that endorphine massage may serve as a supportive option for managing pain during the active phase of labor. However, the small sample size and single-site setting limit generalizability, and larger multi-center studies are recommended to strengthen the evidence base for clinical application
