Abstract

Primary education is the foundation for the intellectual development of students, one of which can be measured through literacy and numeracy skills. However, in some areas, particularly in regions with specific environmental characteristics such as wetlands, there are numerous challenges that hinder the achievement of these basic competencies. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the low literacy and numeracy skills of elementary school students in schools located in the wetland areas of Banjarmasin City. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and school principals, direct field observations, and literacy and numeracy tests to measure students' abilities. The findings show that the literacy and numeracy skills of students in the five schools are at a low level, caused by several factors, including limited educational facilities, low parental education levels, and the geographical and socio-economic challenges present in the wetland environment. Some recommendations for improvement include enhancing educational facilities, teacher training, and increasing parental involvement in supporting learning at home. This study provides insight into how environmental factors play a critical role in determining the quality of education in the area and offers solutions that can be implemented to address these issues

Abstract

Play-based learning is a highly relevant approach in early childhood education because it creates a fun and meaningful learning environment. This method not only focuses on cognitive aspects but also promotes holistic development in social, emotional, motor, creativity, and language skills. Play serves as the primary means for children to explore their environment, build social interactions, and foster self-confidence and independence. However, the implementation of play-based learning still faces challenges, such as limited resources and a lack of understanding among educators in designing effective activities. This study aims to examine various play-based learning designs that have been implemented in early childhood education and their impact on children's development. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature review approach, through an analysis of journals and related scientific sources. The findings indicate that play-based learning designs that are appropriately designed can provide optimal stimulation for all aspects of children's development. Therefore, this approach is recommended for broader implementation to create innovative, enjoyable, and child-centered learning experiences. ABSTRAK Pembelajaran berbasis bermain merupakan pendekatan yang sangat relevan dalam pendidikan anak usia dini karena mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan dan bermakna. Metode ini tidak hanya fokus pada aspek kognitif, tetapi juga mendorong perkembangan sosial, emosional, motorik, kreativitas, dan kemampuan berbahasa anak secara holistik. Bermain menjadi sarana utama anak untuk mengeksplorasi lingkungan, membangun interaksi sosial, serta menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri dan kemandirian. Namun, penerapan pembelajaran berbasis bermain masih menghadapi kendala, seperti keterbatasan sarana dan kurangnya pemahaman pendidik dalam merancang kegiatan yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji berbagai desain pembelajaran berbasis bermain yang telah diterapkan di pendidikan anak usia dini serta dampaknya terhadap perkembangan anak. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka, melalui analisis literatur dari jurnal dan sumber ilmiah terkait. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa desain pembelajaran berbasis bermain yang dirancang secara tepat dapat memberikan stimulasi yang optimal terhadap seluruh aspek perkembangan anak. Dengan demikian, pendekatan ini direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan secara lebih luas guna menciptakan pembelajaran yang inovatif, menyenangkan, dan berpusat pada kebutuhan anak.

Abstract

Penilaian terhadap perkembangan anak usia dini dalam pendidikan Islam tidak hanya bertumpu pada aspek kognitif semata, melainkan juga mencakup dimensi adab dan akhlak sebagai fondasi karakter Islami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pendekatan asesmen holistik yang mencerminkan integrasi antara nilai-nilai spiritual, moral, dan perkembangan intelektual anak usia dini. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus di beberapa lembaga Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) berbasis Islam terpadu Banjarmasin utara. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam dengan guru dan kepala sekolah, serta dokumentasi asesmen pembelajaran anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asesmen holistik di PAUD Islam umumnya berorientasi pada tiga ranah utama: (1) Adab, yang dinilai melalui sikap sopan santun, kedisiplinan, dan tata krama anak terhadap guru dan teman; (2) Akhlak, yang terlihat dari perilaku jujur, empati, tanggung jawab, serta penerapan nilai-nilai keislaman sehari-hari; dan (3) Kognitif, yang mencakup kemampuan berpikir, memahami konsep dasar agama, bahasa, dan logika dasar. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa asesmen yang baik dalam konteks Islam adalah asesmen yang menyentuh aspek ruhani dan akal secara seimbang. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pengembangan instrumen asesmen yang terintegrasi dan kontekstual, agar nilai-nilai Islam tidak hanya menjadi materi ajar, tetapi menjadi indikator perkembangan anak. Implikasi dari studi ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat praktik asesmen berbasis karakter dan spiritualitas dalam sistem pendidikan Islam untuk anak usia dini.

Abstract

This research is motivated by children's low cognitive abilities in the concept of numbers. The purpose of this study is to describe teacher activities, analyze children's activities, and assess the results of children's cognitive development in recognizing numbers. This research method used a qualitative approach with Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over four meetings. The research setting was 13 children in Group B1 of Al-Zahrah Martapura Islamic Kindergarten. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive techniques, described through tabulation and graphs. The results showed that teacher activities in the first meeting achieved a score of 23 (fairly good), in the second meeting achieved a score of 29 (good), in the third meeting achieved a score of 30 (good), and in the fourth meeting achieved a score of 35 (very good). Children's activity in the first meeting achieved 38%, in the second meeting achieved 46%, in the third meeting achieved 69%, and in the fourth meeting achieved 84%. Children's cognitive development in the first meeting achieved 38%, in the second meeting achieved 46%, in the third meeting achieved 77%, and in the fourth meeting achieved 85%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the combination of Project Based Learning, Direct Instruction, and Make a Match models in recognizing numbers can increase children's activity and development outcomes. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan anak dalam aspek kognitif pada konsep bilangan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan aktivitas guru, menganalisis aktivitas anak dan hasil perkembangan anak aspek kognitif dalam mengenal bilangan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas(PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam empat kali pertemuan, setting penelitian pada anak kelompok B1 TK Islam Al-Zahrah Martapura yang berjumlah 13 anak. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif yang dijabarkan dengan tabulasi dan grafik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas guru pertemuan I memperoleh skor 23 kriteria “cukup baik” pertemuan II memperoleh skor 29 mencapai kriteria “baik”, pertemuan III memperoleh skor 30 “baik”, pertemuan IV mencapai skor 35 kriteria “sangat baik”. Aktivitas Anak pada pertemuan I dengan 38%, pertemuan II dengan 46%, pertemuan III dengan 69%, pertemuan IV dengan nilai skor 84%. Hasil perkembangan kognitif anak pada pertemuan I 38%, pertemuan II mencapai 46%, pertemuan III 77%, pertemuan IV 85%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi model Project Based Learning, Direct Instruction, Make a Match dalam mengenal bilangan dapat meningkatkan aktivitas, dan hasil perkembangan anak.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the strength of the relationship between dyscalculia and other learning disabilities in elementary school students and identify emerging research trends and themes in the literature on this topic. Dyscalculia is a specific learning disorder that affects arithmetic and numerical processing and is associated with other rare disorders such as dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). These problems exacerbate the learning challenges and necessitate an integrated approach to teaching and learning.Methodology – This study employed a systematic review, incorporating meta-analysis and a literature review. Meta-analysis: Data were obtained from six studies that met specific inclusion criteria and focused on students aged 6 to 12 years diagnosed with dyslexia and at least one other learning disorder. A literature search was conducted for 191 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 in major academic databases (Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and PubMed).Findings – The results of this study showed a high correlation between dyslexia and other learning disabilities, ranging from 0.34 to 0.67. The literature review focused on the following key topics: (1) dyslexia and dyslexia comorbidity, (2) studies identifying learning disabilities, and (3) psychological approaches and treatments. This should be considered a positive value.Contribution – This study offers a comprehensive review of research on the etiology of dyslexia and other learning disabilities, highlighting recent advances in the field. The author presents a multimodal model that draws on existing neuroscience and educational principles.

Abstract

This study investigates the management of Islamic-integrated curricula within Indonesian early childhood education, focusing on two institutions in Banjarmasin: PAUD IT Ukhuwah and PAUD Tahfidz Ummul Qura. It addresses a limited understanding of how religious values are operationalized through curriculum management. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered from 11 in-depth interviews with teachers, principals, and parents, supplemented by classroom observations and document analysis. The results demonstrate two distinct pedagogical models. PAUD IT Ukhuwah implements a thematic-integrative model, connecting Quranic verses to weekly themes for holistic learning. PAUD Tahfidz Ummul Qura focuses on a memorization-based approach, incorporating daily tahfidz sessions supported by individualized student coaching. Both institutions facilitate teacher empowerment through structured training and religious mentoring. Furthermore, each employs systematic monitoring and evaluation frameworks that comply with national early childhood education standards. The study highlights the significance of comprehensive curriculum management for nurturing spiritual and moral development in young children. By detailing these context-specific practices, this research contributes to international discussions on faith-based education. It provides practical insights for policymakers and educators, including recommendations to scale effective teacher training models for religious pedagogy, adapt integrative thematic frameworks for value-based education, and develop national guidelines for monitoring and evaluating religious-based ECE programs.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a science learning model that can improve the creativity of early childhood (Early Childhood). The study was conducted in two Early Childhood Education institutions, namely TK Negeri Pembina Pahandut and TK Rajawali Sakti in Palangka Raya City. A qualitative approach with a multi-case study design was used to explore the implementation process, assessment models, and supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of creativity through science. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of project-based learning, exploration, experiments, and games has a positive impact on children's cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The implications of this study encourage the need to strengthen teacher training and provide creative science learning facilities in Early Childhood Education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze activities, creative thinking skills, and student learning outcomes in carrying out mathematics learning in broad flat material using Project Based Learning, Group Investigation, and Course Review Horay. This research was carried out using a qualitative and quantitative approach with 4 meetings in class V of SDN Berangas 2 for the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 32 students. The research instruments used teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, student creative thinking skills observation sheets, and student learning outcomes. The results of the research showed that the increase in teacher activity at meeting I was 75% (good), meeting II was 78.5% (good), meeting III was 83.5% (very good), and meeting IV was 90% (very good), the increase in student activity at meeting I was 56.25% (quite active), meeting II 71.88% (active), meeting III 87.5% (very active), and meeting IV 90.63% (very active), increasing students' creative thinking skills at meeting I by 37.5% (less creative), meeting II 62.5% (creative), meeting III 78.13% (creative), and meeting IV 87.5% (very creative), and student learning outcomes at meeting I achieved KKTP at 50%, meeting II 68.75%, meeting III 84.37%, and at the IV meeting it increased to 90.63% who achieved KKTP. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the Project Based Learning model combined with Group Investigation and Course Review Horay can significantly increase activity, creative thinking skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study identified that some third-grade students at SDN Teluk Tiram 2 had difficulty grasping math concepts and that the instructional methods were not sufficiently diverse. To address these issues, a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was integrated with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) and Team Games Tournament (TGT). The study aimed to describe both teacher and student activities and evaluate critical thinking skills and learning outcomes related to units of length and weight. Conducted as a Classroom Action Research (PTK) over three sessions with 25 students, the results revealed that by the final session, teacher activity was rated as “Very Good,” student activity was “Very Active,” students' critical thinking skills were categorized as “Skilled” and “Very Skilled,” and student learning outcomes met the criteria for classical completeness. The researcher recommended this combined model as an effective approach to enhance future learning processes.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang mendasari penelitian ini ialah kemampuan dalam berpikir kritis aktivitas siswa serta hasil belajar khususnya mata pelajaran matematika materi satuan panjang. Sebab itu, itu perlunya ada model pembelajaran untuk bisa meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, aktivitas belajar serta hasil belajar. Model pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah model pembelajaran problem based learning yang dikombinasikan dengan example non example dan snowball throwing. Metode yang dipakai pada penelitian ini ialah kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang menggunakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas II SDN Telaga Biru 8, dengan total siswa 26 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas pendidik pada siklus I mencapai skor 40 pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 42, kemudian pada aktivitas peserta didik mengalami peningkatan, yang mana pada siklus I hanya mencapai 69% pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 100%, kemampuan berpikir kritis pada pertemuan hanya mencapai 42% pada pertemuan 3 meningkat menjadi 88%. Ketuntasan klasikal hasil belajar pada siklus 1 hanya mencapai 42% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 81%.
