Abstract

The agroforestry system  is often  undertaken by famers  in Indonesia specifically for  the development  of multi  purpose  tree species in dry land.   Farmers use the agroforeftry  system  because of ils efficient usage of land and labor and to minimize the risk of crop failure. The agroforestry system  in Southeast  Sulawesi  consists  of planting  cocoa  among multi purpose  tree species  (MPTS), like fruit  trees   (such as langsat or durian) and coconut  trees. The average income earned by  farmers  who apply the combination of langsat, coconut and cocoa was Rp  2.378.825,-/ha/year.  The average income earned by farmers  who apply the combination of  durian, coconut  and  cocoa  was  Rp 2.378.827,-/ha/year.  Financially,  the agroforestry  system  with MPTS  in  Southeast  Sulawesi  is  worth undertaking  because  it  is profitable. From the farmers  point  of view,  the marketing of langsat, durian,  coconut and cocoa is not competitive,  since  farmers  are on the weak side in the price information process.   The results of the analysis of price transmision elasticity,  the index of market integration in the short-run and  in  the  long-run,  show  that  the  market  for  the  above  mentioned   commodities  is  not integrated.   The reason for  this is because of  the inefficiency and deficiency in the availability of market information. The institutional system in the marketing process of the commodities offered by the farmersis  relatively  informal.     In  the  marketing  process   of  langsat,  durian  and  coconut,   the relationship between farmers  and traders can be described as clientelism (patron-client).    On the other hand,  in the marketing of cocoa,  the  farmers  have a fixed  relationship with their market  institutions  like papalele,   whereby  the farmers   receive  working capital from   local traders to harvest and to produce and sale the cocoa to the local market.Key words  :  private  forest,  agroforestry,   MPTS,  income,   marketing,   institution,   Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study isaimed at analyzing the optimization ofrice provision at distributor level in Bau-BauMunicipality using the 2010 data as a basis for planning the provision in the following years. This is an explanatory study in which the data are gathered through a survey method. The population ofthe study is 8 rice distributors. The data are analyzed using a descriptive method to identify some endeavors done by the distributors. The EOQ model is used to determine the number and time of fixed orders to minimize costs. The model ofprovision rolling is usedto analyze the time length for the capital put in stock and the simple nonlinear regression is used to predict the selling based on the data ofmonthly selling in 2010. This study shows the following findings. First, the efforts made by rice distributors are able to optimize the rice provision although some improvement is still needed. These include orders that should be placed before stock off, payment that ismade right after delivery and honesty and trustworthy that is encouraged to build among suppliers and distributors. Second, the total maximum order for each distributor ranges from 153.63 to 532.68, averaging of304.18tons ofrice. This maximum order ismade when stocks reach about 4.45 up to 21.78 tons, averaging of9.34tons. The total minimum costvaries about Rp 4,893,690, up to Rp 17,894,090, averaging ofRp 9,869,222. Third, the rolling ofrice provision is atminimum of6 times per year. Fourth, the distributor estimate is in the average of56.38tons for the monthly selling between January and June 2010. The selling estimate by each distributoris in the average of56.38tons. The total order for each two months ranges from 111.01 up to 114.31 averaging of 112.69 tons,

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the sources and methods of capital for lowland rice farmers in Lasembangi Village, find out how much and efficient working money is used by lowland rice farmers in Lasembangi Village, and find out whether Lowland rice farmers can return the money used during the production of their farm in Lasembangi Village. This research was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022. The population in this study were 42 lowland rice farmers, using a saturated sampling technique. This study took the entire lowland rice farmer population as a sample, namely 42 lowland rice farmers. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula of Total Cost (TC), Net Profit Margin (NPM) and analysis of Return On Investment (ROI). The results showed that the source of capital used for lowland rice farming came from own money, as many as 19 people (45.24%), and additional loan capital from as many as 23 people (54.76%). The working capital used for lowland rice farming for farmers who borrow extra money is IDR5,290,351.03 - per hectare and gets an efficiency value of 4,303. This shows that lowland rice farming for farmers who borrow additional capital is still not efficient because the value of the efficiency is greater than 1. Farmers with their money need working capital of IDR4,778,893,275 - per hectare and get an efficiency value of -1,259. This shows that farmers with their capital farming lowland rice are relatively inefficient because the efficiency value is smaller than 1. Lowland rice farming in Lasembangi Village is declared profitable and feasible to cultivate because lowland rice farmers can return the farming capital used during the production process. The ROI obtained for farmers who use additional loan capital is 154%, which means that the farm gains 154% of the profit from the amount of money issued so that the farming capital can be covered. In comparison, the farmer who owns the capital gets an ROI of 124%, which means the farm gets 124% profit from the amount of money issued so that farming capital can be covered.
